Chapter 12|| Leaving Freyor The Calm

[The Mages Guild]

"HALT!"

Tara and kai immediately tensed up and kai slowly put his hand on his hilt gripping it tightly. he could immediately tell that there were 3 individuals behind him none of which were at the 1st rank. In his mind, he instantly played out a scenario. (If their hostile turn 180 degrees cross slash the nearest one, evasion step backwards then forward thrust thru the seconds chest close the distance decapitate the third.)

"You two, turn around immediately."

"Hey, why are you bugging my customers."

Kai and tara recognized the voice. They turned to see two guards that looked nearly identical to each other besides a few off features, but both were clad in leather armor with 2 short swords as well as the dwarf Naddel standing on her desk pointing at the two guards accusingly.

"Shut up little girl this is none of your concern."

Angered by the guards rude comment.

"Little girl, I'm an adult you jerk. You think you two can just waltz in here like you own the place this is the mages guild or did you forget."

The two guards looked at each other and then at kai and tara as well. They discussed something briefly with one another in a whisper before the other spoke up.

"Were leaving we just need to see these tw.."

But just as he was about to say something the other guard elbowed him, grabbed him by the arm and headed for the exit. Quickly leaving before anything else was said..

Tara and kai confused at the guards weird behavior.

"Why were they acting so weird."

Tara said.

"Those assholes, there always causing trouble with the mage's guild. If it weren't for mage's this city would have been gone lone long ago, we submit almost 40% of the taxes that this city collects. "

Naddel ranting about the soldiers, kai and tara just shrug and decide to leave. There's already been too much commotion for them they just want to get out of freyor as quickly as possible.

"Tara, I think we should forget about supplies. I can hunt for food in the forest on the way, thats really about all we needed in terms of supplies anyway."

"Yes, and I don't like keeping this blindfold on Sen all the time. It has to be bothering him not being able to see at all. Let's just get to the cart and go."

Just outside the mages guild the two guards were speaking to each other.

"Hey, why the hell did you pull me out of there that was clearly them."

"You idiot, orders, the captain said that as soon as there found to report it to him immediately he did not say to capture them. We don't even know why those region knights want them they could be important and knowing you I bet you'd end up pulling a blade on them if things didn't go the way you wanted. What would happen if you hurt them and they were nobles or something."

"There's no way they were nobles did you see how they were dressed, and their kid had a rag on its face. We should go back in and get em."

"Get em, are you stupid, whether their nobles or not doesn't matter. The point is our orders are to report immediately not capture, and if you keep acting like this Imma tell dad that you weren't listening to me again and that you were trying to disobey orders."

"Big bro come on that's messed up I didn't even do nothing."

The other guard was just giving a sideways glance saying with his eyes. (really)

"Ok ok let's go report it jeez, why you always gotta be pulling the dad card.

"Because you never wanna listen besides I think we might have gotten lucky just then."

"how so?"

"I don't know, it's just that guy he was giving me a really bad feeling like he might attack at any minute."

"Now who's being stupid, your not even at the first rank and you think you can feel blood lust or something hahaha."

"Shut up! I know what I felt you shit. let's just go."

The two guards quickly took off to find their commander while still having a brothers quarrel.

Kai and tara exited the mages guild to find that most of the guards were running around the streets frantically. Worried that something might have happened.

"let's go now."

Tara and kai quickly got their horse drawn cart and quickly headed to the nearest gate.

[Mean while at a nearby restaurant.]

Two people could be seen eating a delicious meal. Seeing the two, people immediately recognized there insignia, but what shocked them the most was not the man eating humbly with his knife and fork, but the girl who already had a stack of empty plates next to her. As she gorged on a hog leg the size of a warrior's arm like a wild beast.She quickly finished it to the bone in a minute licking her fingers and then licking her plate she quickly grabbed a huge mug of adder ale which was a mix of fine fermented berry's, and parts of the adder plant, and chugged it all in seconds. Slamming the mug down, she let out a monstrous burp unbefitting of her stature. Afterwards, she leaned back in her chair and softly rubbed her small stomach, people simply did not know where she put it all and as she looked around at the crowd of people she loudly bellowed.

"WHATCHA LOOKING AT!!"

And like someone had turned on a light the people scattered like roaches.

*tch*

" Why do people always stare when I eat."

"Why isn't it obvious."

With her curiosity peaked she looked at luke and asked.

"hmm no tell me, big bro."

"Well isn't it because there not used to seeing someone so beautiful eating such common food."

"hehe, big bro once again you're right."

Listening in on their misguided conversation was the same gate guard from before. He quickly interrupted them before they continued their weird talk.

"Excuse me region knights luke and Serena was it the people have been found."

Mad at being interupted, Serena was about to punch the guy in the face but hearing his last words she quickly got excited.

"where are they?"

"They were seen just moments ago leaving the mages guild headed for the east exit."

Luke quietly put down his knife and fork patted his mouth with a napkin and in a soft but clear voice.

"Is this true?"

"I wouldn't lie, we were gonna capture them, but you only ordered us to report to you so we did just that. I hope with this you are satisfied."

"Yes you did good, we'll handle the rest Serena lets go."

"Yes yes yes I'm pumped I'm so pumped, I heard the man might be strong, I've been itching for a good fi."

Just as Serena was getting rather excited a small voice chimed in, interrupting her.

"u..um excuse me region..."

Having another person interrupt her she snapped.

"What is it."

once again in a small voice.

"The bill it's just a."

Before the man could finish the guard interrupted him.

"It's nothing this owner just wanted to say the food was free, right."

The guard giving the owner a sharp gaze made the restaurant owner terrified with fear he simply slumped his shoulders backed away, and gave a small bow. Serena seeing this just retorted.

"Of course it's free, come on luke my moods starting to turn I don't want to be in this dump anymore ."

Just as she said that she kicked over her table causing many plates to shatter and break. The owner witnessing this turned to look at the guard and the guard just simply shook his head. The owner could only grin and bear it.

The two rushed out of the restaurant jumping onto a nearby roof, and with their speed they quickly appeared as blurs. As they hoped from one rooftop to the next quickly heading towards the east gate, it was only a few seconds before they found the couple. they easily spotted them as there weren't too many people missing an arm headed to the east gate they both stopped for a second.

"Luke, let me capture them myself. If you go in it would be overkill."

"Hmm, nows not the time to play. Whether it's overkill or not we must quickly capture them and take them to Dreyer."

"Pretty please big bro, you got to get the last two criminals. I will finish up quick I promise."

"Serena we mus.."

just as luke was about to say something Serena looked at him with puppy eyes. As tears started to well up in her eyes seeing this he simply sighed and said.

*sigh*

"Finish it quickly, but remember don't kill them Dreyer needs information."

Quickly wiping the alligator tears away, Serena quickly jumped up and down excitedly on the rooftop.

Meanwhile in the house under Serena and luke an old man was enjoying his soup and some dirt fell from the ceiling. The old man grabbed a broom and banged on the ceiling with it shouting.

"You damn kids and your party's keep it down ya hear me."

Back to the roof seeing Serena wipe away her fake tears luke simply said.

"Go"

Serena nodded and disappeared instantly, reappearing above kai and tara and just as she was about to swipe at them she was quickly pulled by the back of her neck by someone. Kai feeling the sudden blood lust instantly jumped to his feet turned and slashed out with his sword, but there was no one there, tara seeing this.

"What's wrong kai is someone there."

Kai not seeing anyone or sensing them sheathed his sword and sat back down.

"No, I must have imagined it I don't sense anyone."

Tara gave the horse a light whip issuing it to pick up speed, kai looking back one last time confused thought. (did I imagine it?)

Serena looking at who pulled her by the neck was shocked to see that it was luke.

"Luke what are you doing you said I could get them."

"shh look."

Luke turned over his hand and the comm appeared, in it was a faint yellow light blinking.

"It's the comm so what, why did you stop me."

"Look at it, it's a message from the boss."

"What does that have to do with you stopping me."

"Normally I wouldn't have but just as you jumped I received this message. It says not to attack them in the city we could end up harming innocents."

"What, you stopped me over that. Who cares about innocent people were region knights is Dreyer going soft or something. Now let me go so I can attack them ."

Lukes face twisted with anger his eyes peered out at Serena like two devouring snakes and he quickly shouted.

"SERENA!!!! I AM THE BIG BROTHER AND AS LONG AS I LIVE NO ONE WILL INSULT COMMANDER DREYER NOT EVEN YOU, LITTLE SISTER.HIS ORDERS ARE ABSOLUTE DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!"

Serena has gone her whole life never being yelled at, no ones so much as even punished her since she was a child. She was shocked and at the same time frightened, especially since this was coming from her big brother. Her eyes quickly started to tear up and then she crumbled to her knees.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry brother you're right you're always right please don't yell at me, I didnt mean what I said about Dreyer, please forgive me."

As luke looked on at his little sister bawl in front of him when just before she was poised and ready to kill he couldn't help but let out a sigh.

*sigh*

"It's alright"

He slowly rubbed her head gently and after several minutes she finally calmed down.

"I shouldn't have yelled at you, but when you disrespect our commander you disrespect our insignia you're spitting in the face of the region lord and your spitting in my face as well. Remember it was me who got you into be a region knight and it was me who made you strong, never forget that."

*nod*

"Yes, big bro I'm sorry I won't do it again I could never disrespect you. What else does the message say."

"The rest of the message was just to wait until they've gotten a few miles or so away from the city, as we could harm civilians. After they are a bit away we need to either capture them and if not capture destroy."

"What about the kid big bro I don't like kids, but I don't think I could kill one."

"For that it doesn't say, but if things do go south we could just take em to an orphanage afterward's ."

"What those places are torture ."

"Then maybe we should just kill him."

"What"

"I'm kidding sis relax, but we can't keep him. I'm afraid if we don't take him to an orphanage we could just leave him at the church of light they'll take him in and turn him into another crazed missionary."

"Both options are bad."

"It doesn't matter, for now we'll discretely follow them and wait for them to get a bit away from the city. Then you may attack to your hearts content."

"You mean it bro, you'll still let me do this myself."

"You gotta learn sometime, besides its best to start you on an easy mission like this before you get into the real stuff, and although this should be easy remember to keep your guard up especially against that man."

"Why's that, when I went to attack him I could tell he was only on the same Lvl as me 5th rank.

"That's your problem right there when you attacked did you notice anything else."

"no"

"By the time I snatched you back he had already jumped to his feet and drawn his sword. If it weren't for my speed he might not have only seen us he might have even cut you."

"Come on your overestimating him. He maybe at the 5th rank but he's only got one arm, what can he do."

Luke lifted up his hand and opened it up, inside of his palm was a bit of hair it was Serena's. Seeing this she quickly felt her head and indeed a tiny bit was missing.She didn't even notice it but at that instant she went to strike out it was indeed kai who struck first and luke jumped in grabbed Serena back and swiped the hair. Shocked by this she whispered.

"noway."
