Chapter 10||Potential Part 2
Ryyla confused by what she was witnessing.
"This doesn't make any sense."
Tara slightly panicked at ryyla's words.
"What's wrong please tell us."
Ryyla's expression was that of confusion as well as a bit of curiosity
Sen being completely freaked out.Not knowing what was being done to his body expended the rest of his mana an, an attempt to stop this invasion from this unknown mana. In doing so the light from within his body finally settled down, and he broke out into a cold sweat. exhausted he simply laid there and listened to the conversation.Ryyla quickly handed him back to his mom.
tara frightened by this in a terrified tone she said.
"He's sweating all over, what did you do."
Kai started swelling with anger, he quickly stood up and shouted. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!"
Ryyla quickly shouted back
"QUIET!"
And as she did the pressure she emanated around her increased 10 fold, causing kai to crumble back to his knees.
Realizing her pressure is a bit too forceful. She quickly dissipates it. She stares at sen for a moment and then the couple.
*sigh*
"Okay, this is what I know so far. Your son definitely has potential, higher than any I've ever seen in my life. With enough training, he may very well be a 10th rank, but of which class, I haven't the slightest clue."
*shocked* Tara and kai are making faces filled with surprise and worry.Kai quickly ask.
"What do you mean you don't know which class he's suited for."
*sigh*"As you know this test determines your mana potential, for the future as well as what class your soul is suited for. Whether it be a mage or a warrior, but what many commoners, no offense, don't know. Is that within a person is a mana core, and what this is, well basically its the soul itself."
"How do you know that."
"Please do not interrupt me. Anyway, as to how we've come to know this, well its hard to say.But basically in this world mana is in nearly all living things, and with it comes mana essence. Every mana essence is different. For example, in ground essence, we all know for a fact that ground essence is brown because we can see it with our own eyes, and every time someone uses the element of the ground. It always leaves finite traces of brown essence mana. Some can sense this, and if the magic that was used was large enough we can even see the essence form around us as tiny specks.Do you understand."
Not giving the two anytime to even answer she continues on.
"So as for the soul, well we perceive it as the soul simply because it has no physical form inside us. What I mean is that, were you to cut someone's chest open you would only see organs bone flesh blood etc

but if you're strong enough you may be able to perceive their mana essence.Which is located directly between the stomach and slightly below the solar plexus. We call this spot the mana core aka the soul. It is called the mana core for obvious reasons.Because it's located in the middle of your body and all of a person's mana passes through it, and to this day no one's been able to identify its color. They've only been able to determine its shape, by feeling their essence, and because no one can see it and yet it is our source of power we call it the soul. It's what makes us who we are it's what determines our elements as well as what class we are suited for."
Kai in a confused tone asked.
"Mana core's, our souls have shapes. How does that determine whether or not well be warriors or mages?"
"Simple until recently I've only known of two different shapes the mana core can take inside of someone. The first is the shape of a flame, that's for a warrior. The second was a mage, its shape is a nearly perfect sphere, and I didn't say it determines whether you will be a warrior or a mage. It merely represents what your body will be best suited for. For example, if someone is more suited to be a warrior and they use magic then compared to someone that's suited to be a mage. The mage will perform better when it comes to magic it's really as simple as that."
"You said you believed until recently there were 2 different shapes. So what's the third one."
"Ah, so you've asked. That what I'd like to know myself. I've looked into your son, his potential is definitely there, but the shape of his mana core is."
"What?"
"Well I don't know, it's neither a sphere nor a flame. it simply keeps changing, I've never found this in anyone ever. I do believe I've never heard of this, your son is probably the first. Fascinating, simply fascinating."
Kai feeling a bit angry over the none answer.
"This can't be this makes no sense you've never seen this before. Are you not an expert? did we waste our time coming here, were no better off than we were before."
Ryyla taking a bit of offense from kai's rude comments.
"Excuse me sir but I am an expert, and when it comes to matters such as this I am thee expert.Anywhere else you go they probably wouldn't even be able to tell you as much as I did. This is my first time seeing it, and I can already tell I know more about it then you the parents do. Does that not speak volumes itself at what I am capable of. I haven't even told you what his elements are, but if you feel you've wasted your time here then you two are more than welcome to leave ."
*surprised* kai quickly ask another question.
"Wait wait element, our son has an element"
"You two really are some country bumpkins do you know nothing."
Kai getting more and more mad decides to suppress his anger for the sake of his son and in a softer voice.
"Please tell us"
*sigh* "Everyone in the world is born with at least one element.Your son, me, the two of you, but because most people have low mana potential they simply cannot use magic, and if they can then it's just barely. But for people like your son, even though his mana is low now. But since his potential is so high as he grows his capacity to absorb store and use mana will increase exponentially, taking him possibly to the 10th rank.Once again let me reiterate the difference between a warrior and a mage. When it comes to birth, whether you're suited to be one or the other, that's what will determine how many elements you are capable of using.Someone suited to be a warrior only has one element, while someone suited to be a mage is born with 2.Your elements are usually determined by your parents elements. For example, if a man has an element for fire and a woman has an element for water and their child is born suited to be a mage.He or she will have both fire and water, but if the child is suited to be a warrior then the child will have only one of their parents elements. As to which one they would get, well its a coin toss. So at most a person is capable of having only 2.That is why your son has the wind and light elements."

Tara and kai were both shocked at all this information. They knew their son had mana potential, but a 10th rank and what surprised them as well is that everyone has an element there born with.
"So since my husband's element is light, does that mean I have an element as well and it's the wind."
"If your husbands element is light, then yes that would mean the other element could only have come from you.Since you've both shown me something interesting as well as something I've never seen before, for free, ill also check your potentials and see your elements if you'd like."
Tara knew her potential is low, but her curiosity wanted to know if she truly had an element.Because even if your mana potential is low there were certain tools you could buy that could amplify your mana capacity as well as your abilities.Stepping forward a bit excitedly she said.
"Please take care of me"
Ryyla nods in agreement and once more she forms a ball of white mana into her palm, and slowly forces it into tara's chest. Quickly a feeling of discomfort appears on tara's face, as it feels like an invasion of ants crawling under your skin.Like something clearly isn't suppose to be there. As the light subsides it finishes in no time causing tara to take a step back and shiver just a little.
"So, your potential is low."
Tara nods in agreement, she already knew that since she was a child, but she's always wondered what it would be like if she could use magic just once.
"But, your mana core is shaped like a sphere, therefore, you are suited to be a mage and not only do you have the element of wind but also the element of lightning. So even though your potential is quite low, your not even a rank 1, with enough training you could at most become a rank 3 mage in your lifetime. But with a magic tool your rank could easily jump up by 2 making you a 5th rank mage if you'd like I could sell you this magic tool. [ryylas pulls from her robe a small black bracelet that shined a faint purple ] only 4,000 gold."
Kai and tara were both stunned, their mouths gaped open as they sucked in a bit of cold air, they were beyond words. To know that his wife had 2 elements and with training she could use magic, but 4,000 gold that was simply way too expensive. 4,000 gold was a small fortune, and neither one has seen that much money their whole lives. They couldn't believe the price, but tara out of curiosity asked.
"What does the bracelet do exactly?"
Kai hearing his wife thought she had gone nuts. There was no way they could afford that. Not even if they both labored for 100 years. A small family makes between 3-5 gold a year 4,000 there was just no way.
"It amplifies your mana capacity, allowing you to absorb mana faster and store more. Making it possible for someone not even at a rank 1 to use their elemental magic."
Tara remembering herself saddened to not be able to fulfill her childhood dream of using magic quickly declined.
"I appreciate the offer to sell me the bracelet, but I have no such fortune, thank you anyway."
Ryyla thinking for a moment, before an idea pops into her head.
"then how about a trade?"
Kai's eyes perked up curiously, what could we possibly have to trade for something so costly he thought. To his surprise his wife asked anyway.
"Trade what?"
Ryyla releasing a small chuckle lightly says.
"Your son, give him to me, that is the trade I offer."
"WHAT" Tara and kai both shouting at the same time.
"You can't be serious, why do you treat us as fools"
"I'm not. I am simply offering a trade. Your boy for this wonderful bracelet. Ah, how about 2 no 3 bracelets for the boy.
Tara now upset.
"No, the answer is no, never ever, ever."
Tara signals to her husband to leave. She grabs him by the hand and quickly walks towards the exit.
"Wait don't you wish to know about your husband's elements."
Kai quickly stopped and turned around.
"Elements, you said elements with an s. Are you saying I'm not a warrior."
"Kukuku indeed you're not a warrior. How you got to be at the 5th rank is beyond me, but with all my experience I can tell you are suited to be a mage. So would you like me to check or no, I did say I would check you 2 for free.
Tara still pulling on kai's arm.
"Wait tara I'm also a bit curious."
"No, she's just trying to trick you, she wants to trade for my son, my son, I don't wish to be in her presence any longer."
Taras thoughts were in a bit of a scramble after ryyla offered to trade for her child.Like he was some type of commodity or product. She simply wanted to leave Freyor and get to her mothers as soon as possible.
"Tara I need to know."
Tara now becoming a bit upset that her husband wanted to stay, soon grew agitated.
"Why, why must you know, what difference does it make if your a mage or a warrior."
"Tara, for the past 10 years I've been stuck a the 5th warrior rank. I'm 31 now, most men my age who train as warriors have already reached the 7th rank. I've been practicing hard every day for these past 10 years with no improvement towards my next breakthrough.I have been stuck at a bottleneck all this time.I've often contemplated whether I should just give up, but every day I've kept at it. If I were to find out now that it's been because my mana core was suited for a mage's prowess, it would take a huge burden off of my shoulders. To know that it's nothing I did and it was just because of how I was born, so much sweat, so many tears and I've gotten nowhere, so I need to know.I must know, or it will haunt me forever."
"I... I didn't know I'm so sorry why didn't you tell me?"
"How could I, to let my wife know I wasn't strong. That I was just another run of the mill warrior, that I was weak.
"Kai I could never think you were weak, never."
Looking into each others eyes, tara gives kai a soft kiss and after a gentle embrace ryyla clears her throat to get rid of the sappy atmosphere.
*Ahem* "So do you wish to know or not?"
"YES PLEASE!"
After a few seconds ryyla repeated the process.
"Hmm not bad, your potential is medium. If you were to drop your training as a warrior and immediately start harsh training with magic, you may make it to the 7th rank as a mage. your mana core is sphere shaped you are suited to be a mage, and your 2 elements are light of course. As well as......hmmm.......dark......I must tell you now, although you have the element of darkness I do not recommend you training with it.
"Why not."
Ryyla looked up and pondered for a minute.
"You know about demons right"
Kai and tara quickly look at each other as well as sen, and they both say
"Not really"

The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./
