《The Compassionate Killer and his travels in a new world》Chapter 8: Taking the first job

I took a seat and then checked the card. The receptionist lady said that the card would show me my stats based on how I can understand it the easiest. Also my stats would not be recorded so I need not worry about my secrets and the sort being seen by anyone else. I was excited to see my stats but when I did see them I was left speechless.
Alastair Freidrich Race: Human Age:20
Health: 10,000
Mana: [imeasurable]
Strenght: 20,000
Agility:[untouchable]
Dexterity:[godlike level]
Skills: [@!%$ System] [Transmutation] [???] [???]
Blessings: [Herculean Strength] [Universal Language Comprehension] [Universal Writing Comprehension] [Near Invincibility]
The health would be overly impossible and the mana is just... wait what?!
Imeasurable would that mean I have something like an infinite pool of mana? Well then the strength is... 20,000 could that still increase? anyway the agility say's untouchable that would mean that I still have my assaination skill from before. But the dexterity... godlike would mean that I could probably do anything right?
But that would in anycase I would not mind that and instead look at my skills the first one would be the oversrive the second would be my invented magic but theres a third and fourth? Also the blessings are... dos this mean that I am currently extremely powerful?
Well I should not be to complacent safety first, am I right.
But these stats are just... should I say cheat or something more of the lines of unbelievable or unfair well putting it into perspective all I've been doing does seem out of common sense then... Well this world will be different than my last and also I will need to fix it so this powerups are not that much... I think.
Speaking of learning I now have two bags of coins.
I opened the bag full of silver and counted them they were 9 left I then opened the bigger one and then inside was a huge amount of copper coins. I counted them and 90 were left so I pretty much get it.
100 copper = 1 silver
100 silver = 1 gold
Although I don't know if the silver to gold was the same but thinking about it logically that would be very much likely. The reason being that there must be consistence in the currency, if there wasn't then that would just be a hard to understand economy. As I understand if there is some form of money more or less there would be the market. As things stand I think this world will go into the same path that my world did but due to the presence of magic and the other races I guess progress is slightly halted.
But it won't take long for someone to start making new weapons. Even if I didn't come to this world the concept of guns would appear sooner or later and with that the shift of power balance owuld occur. Then we would see colonies, slaves and loss of rights. Then again in this world they wouldn't need the thing called coal or oil so that being the case if it went through the same timeline as what happened in my previous world then...
I guess theres no helping it huh..
Though I want to change this world the thing is I still have no concrete plan to make that happen. Things can't be stopped only halted, progress would soon occur and the monarchy would likely change into democracy. So what I need to do now is...
"Guess that I'll need to find the answer first huh..."
I stood up and walked towards the board filled with all sorts of poster.
[Goblin Subjugation]
Kill 10 Goblins
Reward: 50 copper
[Dire wolf Subjugation]
Kill 5
Reward: 10 silver
[Kobold Subjugation]
Kill 50
Reward: 10 silver
[Slime Subjugation]
Kill 10
Reward: 10 copper
Most quest were subjugation and the reward increases based on the difficulty huh. I don't see any quest for subjugating things like skeletons or orcs and other monsters so it seems that there are only specific monster depending on the numbers. If I think about it the adventurers guild would be something like a defense force against monsters, and the adventurers would be the infantry responsible for the subjugation of monsters. With that it would be pretty obvious how powerful the adventurer's guild actually is. If the adventurers guild didn't exist then the kingdoms would need to take the responsibility of handling the monster population.
Although these jobs seem easy I want to do something besides killing so I looked for other jobs.
[Escort(Merchant)]
Escort a merchant caravan to the capital city
Reward: Upon completion 10 silver each adventurer(Food and supplies would be handled by the merchant)
[Cleaning the city](Doesn't need to be an adventurer)
Clean the city
Rewards: 10 copper per hour
The escort mission, done that and the cleaning? I respect the guild and all but then again cleaning? Seriously why would seasoned warriors clean the city! I mean if anything someone else should do that!
But thinking about it seeing the reward it might be for the new adventurers who are like me to get enough money to apply to become an adventurer. It the additional "doesn't need to be an adventurer" confirms that it is something like that. Thinking like that if I didn't have those knives with me or if I didn't make some knives on the way I would most likely be cleaning the streets right now. With those thoughts I took three quest [Kobold subjugation] [Dire wold Subjugation] and [Goblin subjugation].
When I passed the three posters to the receptionist with a smile she told me where to go.
The place I was told to go to is a forest east of the town. The place I gone to before is to the west and opposite of the place where I am heading to. I asked the receptionist about it and it seems that in the direction I came from there is a huge labyrinth, a forest type one at that. The place is covered in a barrier and with that the beast inside won't wonder out but the thing is that besides beast any other species can enter and exit it. With that it was called the dead man's land. As the reason for it being enclosed in a barrier is due to the overly high powered monster that reside there.

And thinking to that point I was amazed, those monsters were high powered? Although I think that the bear was decently powerful the reason I had a hard time is actually due to it's hard body. Then again thinking about my stats a while ago I think that those monsters would be really strong or should I say that I'm just that strong.
"So this the begginer level labyrinth"
The place had a fence around it and there was a gate guarded by two heavily armored men. I walked towards the gate and showed the two guards my card. They let me in and I just walked by.
"A new adventurer huh"
"Guess we'll have to move again it seems"
I heard their conversation and it's contents made me want to punch them and send the two people flying. But since I need to avoid getting enemies I will have to tolerate them for now. If I had to say though I have a pretty high tolerance to this after all I was belittled more than this in my previous world after all.
It didn't take long to find a goblin. After a few minutes of walking I found a group of three goblins walking around holding clubs made of tree branches. They are small creatures with a height of 4 feet and they have a build like that of an old malnourished man. Their stomach were bulging but their arms and legs were very skinny and they wore a simple loincloth making them have the image of a typical goblin like those in games and books.
"kukuku"
When the goblins saw me they started laughing and then they suddenly dashed towards me. They raised they clubs and swung down.
I looked at them and analyzed their movements. The goblins have too much wasted movements and their footwork is simply trash. They chrged at me using all their power and technically left themselves too open. If a person without experience would fight with these guys he could more or less defeat them easily but since they were a group the difficulty would be slighty higher but not something that would cause death. Well some would be shocked and feel fear from these monsters so they might be frozen or something but something like that is simply impossible.
First of all as an adventurer you already know the risk and understand that you'll be fighting against monsters. Second you should already have a weapon when challenging these monsters and third and last these goblins are technically stupid monsters that attack based on intinct. Not only that their movements are slow and their not that big. With all these the adventurers should have a pretty easy time earning some cash as long as they don't get too full of themselves.
Back to the fight I waited for the very last second and dodged their clubs. The three clubs landed on the ground and the impact was felt. Although these guys are slow and look weak their attacks are simple they still are monsters that hold tremendous strength. But even with the added strength these guys are still stupid beast .
I unsheathed my sword and swung it sideways decapitating the three goblins.
I thought that their blood would be different but it's red after all. THe heads rolled over and as I was told I took their ears as proff of subjugation. Then I piled up their bodies and waited on one of the branches. The blood of monsters should be darined and properly hidden if you plan to stay at the place of subjugation for rest but I want to wait for the monsters to enter my trap and not hunt.
Though hunting would be fun and all I don't have the drive to do so. Seeing as these weak monsters could survive in this forest then those dire wolves or whatever would not be that much of a threat.
Though I sad that a few hours passed an not a single monster came.
[patapatapata]
Just as I was about to start hunting I heard the sound of footsteps and analyzing it there should be more than ten of those. I waited patiently and from the east a group of ten or more goblins came and jumped on the three carcasses. The goblins were... eating the dead goblins.
Cannibalism...
It surely is a cruel sight to behold but thinking about it they are not sentient beings. Though they may look human they are still beast that follow true to their desires. I didn't want to continue watching so I jumpped down and started beheading them all.
After a few seconds al the goblins were decapitated and I collected the ears and headed out to continue hunting.
I checked the ears and I got 21 confirmed goblin kills all in all so I started looking for kobolds and dire wolves.

Comment by the author: Looking at the chapter list, you might have noticed Volume 1 is not there. The reason is that it’s in the process of being published so I’m somewhat restricted in where and how I can post it. Edit. 18/04/2017 The first volume is now officially on sale. It is no longer possible to get the first volume for free. I am sorry but it was free for a long time and it was time for it. However if you like to support me you can find th first volume here on Amazon (getBook.at/TheEverlasting) Compared to other stories on Royal Road this one is faster paced. No artificial extensions of the story by spending forever in generic constructs, like random ranking tournaments, that don’t really matter for the overall plot. That’s the plan anyway. Volumes consist roughly of 30-35k words. Additionally: I am not a native speaker, nor have I had any formal education in the English language. I am trying very hard to improve myself. If you want to help me by proofreading my story, shoot me a PM and we’ll see if we can arrange something. Other than my thanks and fake internet points I can’t offer anything, though. Yeah, poor student here… Edit 22/06/2017 Hey the story is officially ended if i ever decide to continue it will be on another date. The ending is open for anyone to use their imagination. Thank you all for the support. I hope we could meet later in the Everlasting II. Respectfully Biako

Tales of the Legendary Scholar

Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost. Thus, the Tales of the Legendary Scholar begins. ------ o ------ Old Synopsis: A famous ancient adage stated, behind a successful man is a woman BUT… In these lands, the monarchs are seeking not a woman to stand behind them but the man hailed as the Legendary Scholar.
