《The Compassionate Killer and his travels in a new world》Chapter 7: Adventurers Guild
Advertisement
We finally arrived at the academy town but there are two problems. One is that I was not allowed to get into the academy town because only students or those with business there are allowed to enter and the other is that I didn't have a single scent.
But the first problem was solved immediately as there's another town in front of the academy town. The town is called Galdberg and it's the typical town but the thing is it has an adventurers guild and merchants guild. Well Lily and I separated and went our own ways. Though unlike those normal aquaintances that would bring you along she simply waved my bye without having any second thoughts.
It's not like I feel hurt or anything but this world is actually not like those in light novels huh... or more like I'm not recieving the same luck and going through the same cliche coincidences as those main characters do. It maybe because the person who sent me is god but those were works of fiction after all.
But this world is actually a fantasy so is there anything unrealistic from it besides magic and the powerful monsters?
In any case I need money so I guess the adventurers guild it is then. Well I could sell some of my knives but then again those bone knives only look good but they don't have any redeeming properties huh. And also these swords are absoulutely not for sale no matter how penniless I may be these weapons might be used against me so I won't give it off.
Though I feel that I will somehow end up making weapons like guns so that I could fight but then I won't give of any information about them.
I then head for the adventurers guild with a bit of exciment.
The guild is a large building having the logo of a shield with two crossed swords. It had the same style as a church but it has no bell tower and it's... noisy. Even from outside I could hear the noise from inside the guild. At first I thought something great happened or some promotion but it seems it simply the noise of people rampaging.
I pushed the large wooden doors and enter. When I did no one batted an eye and simply minded their own business. If I were to compare it to anything it would be a lot more similar to a tavern than a guild but then again, this is a fantasy world after all.
I evaded the flying bottles and the bodies as well as the occasional knives, swords and spears. It seems that adventurers are rowdier people than I thought.
I finaly reached the desk with a beautiful lady standing there. It seems since the time I enetered she would be the only person who noticed and was observing me for a while now. I smiled and then started to ask about becoming an adventurer. The receptionist lady caught my attention first as she had long pointed ears and seeing her blonde hair, white skin and her slim figure a thought came to mind and that was, "An Elf".

Well if someone from my world were to see those pointy ears they would immediately say an elf! And then dash to her not minding everything else and begin confirming if the ears were real. I... well I do want to confirm it but then again with the monsters and magic as I said something of this caliber is nothing.
"Well if you want to become an adventurer then you will need to pay a ten copper coins fee"
The lady said as she looked at me. Then I immediately thought with that I brought out five of the knives I made. I didn't think that these knives would fetch a good enough prive but then again copper would sound like the lowest form of money in this world. If they use copper coins then I could easily see that silver coins would be above copper and gold would be above silver. Then if that's it I could easily change these knives into money... I hope.
When the receptionist saw the knives she showed a shocked expression and asked.
"The,these... a,are you.. go,going... to.... sell them?"
Her voice was shaky and she was stuttering. While she looked at me with eyes full of fear. Seeing her behave that way I was taken aback, well I know that it's shoking but what is there to fear? I mean those are simply the teeth of beast right?
"Well I don't have any money on me now so I would be glad if you could accept these knives as a trade. or is the guild not accepting trades?"
Hearing my answer the receptionist lady raised both her arms and waved them saying flusteredly.
"No no no, we gladly accept these but..."
The lady looked at me then she noticed my two swords and as if understanding something she nodded her head and called for someone.
"Devian!"
After her words a young man who looks to be eighteen or so came out of the door behind the desk and then came to the reception lady. He was scratching his head as he made a yawn and with an irritated voice asked.
"What is it big sis"
"Take a look at these"
The receptionist lady gave the young man named Devian the five knives that I placed on the desk. When the young man saw the knives his eyes opened wide in shock and immediately tooke them. He held the five knives like they were treasures and then tested their sharpness. His Finger was easily cut but when I did that my skin was barely scratched. Seeing the blood his eyes lit up and he looked at me.
"Sir are you the one who brought these knives?"
His tone was slightly erratic and he looked like he wouldn't take any lies so I told him the truth. But when I did he suddenly jumped over the desk and put down the knives. He the looked at me earnestly and asked.
"How much will you sell these knives for... no no I want to know what beast were these knives made from?"

He asked me with eyes full of expectation but I don't even know what the beast was called so I simply defined it.
Though when he heard the definition of the beast and it's characteristics his smile curled up higher. He made an unbelievable smile and his mouth seemed to reach his ears as he released a joyful aura.
"huhu"
He then suddenly started laughing in a weird manner as his face went down.
Suddenly he jumped over the desk and ran towards the door at the back. A few moments later he returned with a bag. He dropped the bag on the table and then declared.
"10 Silver Coins for the 5 knives, 2 silver coins each!"
I was left speechless, I mean those knives were made of bones you know? I even told you it's origins and yet.
But suddenly a thought his me. When I did the same thing the young man did my skinf wasn't in any wayd damaged and the bag made out of beastkin was also in perfect condition. Then I thought if his skin was that easily cut then how sharp is this knife actually.
With those thoughts I remembered the bandits I all beheaded when I saved Lily. I faintly remember the sensation when cutting them down it was like cutting tofu. But then I though it was due to my increase in strength but then it was because of the bones sharpness huh. But if I remember correctly I remodeled them...
That's it! Due to my remodeling using my transmutation they blade was extremely sharp but then my skin technically my whole body is unlike in my previous world a lot stronger and tougher. It was not only my strength but also my sturdiness that went up. Putting it into perspective I would be something like a hero of some sort then. But I hate being that kind of person so I will have to put that for later besides I need to fix this world so I think being some hero would happen sooner or later but before that let's start to understand this place first.
"If that's it then you got a deal"
If this was my world I would do my best get the highest possible price but since I didn't know the items worth or the currency rates then I don't want to continue. Also this seems to be a pretty regular guild so I shouldn't try getting to much from them.
"Well then the deal is sealed"
With a face full of smiles the young man took the five knives and went to the back again.
"Well now that that's finished I would like to apply as an adventurer"
I said that and the receprtionist lady with a face full of smiles gave me paper and pen. Then she took out a silver coin from the bag and took out a bag of copper coins and placed them on the table.
I took the paper not minding what the lady was doing and then seeing the letters I was glad. The characters used is the same alphabet in my previous world only the writting is beautiful and neat. I wrote my name in the bottom but the name I used this time is Alastair Freidrich. I signed the paper and gave it to the receptionist lady with a smile.
Then she looked over the paper and placed it inside a box, on top of the box she then placed a silver card and a few moments later the box glowed a blue light and it lasted for a few seconds before disappearing. The receptionist lady took the card and handed it to me.
"Please drop your blood onto the card"
I followed her instructions and bit my finger, I dropped blood onto the card and after that it once again gave of the faint blue glow.
I asked the receptionist what was that all about and it's a system the guild uses to make sure that framing and the sort would be avoided. The guild card when the user dropped blood onto it would record all the actions that a person would do. From the petty crimes to murder it would also record the monster kills that the adventurer achieves when he got the card. The card would then send out the information through a magic communication system and those records will be stored in the main guild.
Well it's not like all the actions would be recorded only monster kills and human kills. It seems to be in sync with the owners mana system. When the receptionist was about to go into full detail about mana I raised my hands and stopped her. I already went to school and mana really is energy but it's all the types of energy. From electromagnetic to pretty much gravity it's in there somewhere in this world and with that I can understand that the lecture about how the guild card worlks would be similar to a lecture on quantum physics so I had to give up.
As a researcher I love attaining knowledge but I want to understand and get things on my own. I would like to hear a lecture if it would be fast and easy but I hate sittig all day listening to someone talk. Anyway with that I understood that all the people or monsters I kill would be recorded. But then again as this is something man made there is bound to be some way to interfere with the magic system.
And I'm 100% confident that I would get that in a year or two. Anyway all I need is to avoin uneccesarry conflict until I find out how to make the interference.
I then look at the card and walk towards one of the tables.

Fallen
Hundreds of years ago, the servant god Elsyn declared that they would destroy humanity entirely, explaining it as their duty as humanity’s peacekeeper. When the gods saw it fit to send someone to oppose the fallen servant, Iztris—the gods’ own servant and follower—visits Cheryn. Iztris requests the aid of Alyson and Jacob, the oldest two heirs of Cheryn and the only ones given the gods’ offer of the ‘assurance of victory,’ and the heirs agree. There will come a time when humanity does fall—but none of them would allow that to happen by the hands of a being just as flawed as mortals. I recommend reading the story by volume, instead of by the order the chapters were posted. This story was beta read by Mad Sadie. Many thanks! Please note that some characters use different pronouns depending on the chapter’s view and the speaker. Iztris, for example, is referred to with neutral pronouns by Elsyn (in most cases) and themself, and after being introduced as such they are referred to with male pronouns by Alyson and Jacob.
