Chapter 56: Arrival of the survivors' convoy (1)

As the sun of a new day rose from behind the horizon, the group underwent a significant change.

For starters, Lance's life energy ignition percent was now 93%, making him equivalent to peak tier-1 beast. As for where did he got the cores for such huge power leap… it came naturally from Reem!

The azure gazelle king made quite the contribution in the battle yesterday; he managed to kill four peak tier-1 beasts after all! Thus, and as these beasts we normal and not magical, Reem had no need for their cores. As such, two of these cores went to Lance, enabling him to break through to a peak Lv.1 warrior. The other two cores, as well as 8 other cores from weaker beasts, went to Etta.

Disappointedly, after absorbing the 8 cores, Etta only raised her ignition percent to 81%, showing that her talent was way below that of Lance.

In yesterday's battle, Reem's team was the team with the most kills, with a total of 23 kill, which wasn't strange considering that the azure gazelle king was with them.

Ramie's team came second, thanks to his green vines and his ability to sense the auras. The leader's son team came third with 9 kills, which wasn't strange, considering that he was the only magician with Lv.4 artifact around, while Lance's and Neil's team performed more or less the same as the other teams.

Anyhow, in the battle yesterday, only 5 magical beasts were killed, all of which fell to Ramie's vines!

Ramie was now a rank-1 magician with Lv.3 artifact, the same level as Reem, making him equivalent to high tier-1 beast.

Ramie left the house and headed for the gate, to participate in the hunting mission.

Even though it hasn't been long since the nightly confrontation was over, food was a priority that didn't accept discussion.

"My regards, Mr. Ramie…!" A voice that contained the utmost respect and humbleness came from the side.

Looking at the source of the voice, a man in his late 40s walked over with haste toward Ramie, he was almost jogging.

His face full with smiles, and he was radiating with friendliness.

"I've heard of your heroic performance yesterday Mr. Ramie. And let me tell you this; right from the depth of my heart, all of us, owe you so much that we probably won't be able to pay in two life times! You are a real man, with high virtue and kind, benevolent heart…! You are a rare breed… rare breed indeed!"

"How mistaken were we in the way we treated you! But you! You fought with all of your might, thus saving every single soul here! Oh…! How will we ever be able to repay you're endless kindness… how will we ever?!"

"To think we have been so wrongful for someone of your caliper…! It makes my heart twist with utmost pain…!"

"Please Mr. Ramie, for the sake of your efforts in yesterday's battle… no! For my own sake! Please let me make it up for you! Otherwise, my heart will never see peace." The moment the man approached Ramie, he immediately released an endless stream of awkward praises and complements, glorifying Ramie exaggeratedly. More ever, the man acted in a servile, humble manner as if he was a lowly employ speaking to a high ranking superior.

Ramie was taken at first; however, he soon understood the matter, and sighed in his heart.

Seeing Ramie remain silent, the man continued: "Let's see… how about you move next to our house. In this way, the moment you need something, we can immediately bring it for you. Or, if you're not willing, we can move next to your house, and serve you the way you deserve! You can consider us your servants! At least this way, we can pay some of the monumental dept that we owe you."

It didn't take a genius to understand the sudden change in behavior was probably because this man had heard of his performance in last night's battle. As such, he was now seeking to form a connection with him, to have a strong backer in these dangerous times. So, he came up with such an awkward way of speaking to wash away the previous impression he had left on ramie.

Only a day before, these people made sure to maintain a distance from him. They had even prohibited their children from going anywhere near the house where he lived.

However, they treated him in such a terrible manner not out of personal grudge, but simply because they wanted to be cautious in these abnormal times.

Hence, Ramie didn't blame them or hold any grudge against them at all.

Looking at the man, Ramie could make out a poorly concealed fear in his eyes. Apparently, this man was still afraid of him, however, for the sake of his own family, he was forcing himself to make this move.

Ramie spoke few words to assure the man that he holds no grudge for the unwelcoming treatment he received. He also assured the man that he'll do all he could to protect the compound while he stays here, before saying few words and parting ways with him.

Truth be told, although ramie understood the man's desperation, however, in the end, he wasn't strong enough to ensure the compound safety. In yesterday's battle, he was barely strong enough to protect himself. And that was only because he relied on a team.

More ever, the enemy were flying beasts, with not much physical capabilities, hence, it could be said that his green vine spell was a good counter for them, allowing him to be so useful.

Also, he wasn't alone, but a part of group that was to leave the compound either sooner or later. As such, he couldn't really afford to take responsibility for a family's safety, or bound himself with others.

Also, it was needless to say how dangerous and deadly the trip to the capital can be. Ramie and the others with him weren't sure that they could protect themselves, not to mention a family. The trip was a gamble; with ones' own life as stake, as such, whoever goes, has to take responsibility for himself, and shouldn't count on others' help.

As Ramie arrived at the compound entrance, immediately, all the gazes fell on him.

Different from the usual gazes, there was no sign of fear, wariness, or apprehension this time. Instead, there was only respect and approval.

The news that he protected all of his team members was already known by everyone now.

Scanning the warriors around, Ramie was surprised.

Near the compound's entrance, 20 newly awakened warriors could be seen!

Before, there were 18 warriors other than the compound leader. Now however, and considering that 11 of the 18 had met their demise in the battle yesterday, there should have been only 7 here…

However, right now, excluding the compound leader, 27 warriors could be seen, near the gate, preparing the vehicles for the hunt.

As for where did these new numbers came from…? It was obviously from the gains of the battle!

Yesterday, the compound suffered a great loses… however; it wasn't as if there was no gain at all.

On the beasts' side, more than 60 beasts were killed, which naturally meant a lot of life energy cores.

Hence, during the night, part of these new cores was used to replenish the number of warriors. And more than 40 cores were given to 30 individual, to ignite their life energy and join the fighting force, while the other cores were used to increase the ignition percent of the existing warriors.

As the aptitude of the people differs from one person to another, from the 30 individual, only 20 succeeded, which was still a lot.

However, considering that not only the cores the comes from low tier-1 beasts were given, but cores from mid and even high tier-1 beast were used, it was of no wonder that this many had succeeded.

After receiving some words of thanks from few warriors, Ramie awaited Lance to come, as partaking in the hunting expedition was part of their daily task.

'I should test out the new spell at the beasts on the riverbank, to see its effect…'

As Ramie was thinking to himself, he sensed a peak tier-1 beast aura came toward the gate speeding from within the compound.

A second later, the azure gazelle king showed up with Reem mounted on his back.

Seeing that her face was pale, Ramie's expression instantly went dark.

'Don't tell me…'

Every time Reem displays this type of expression, a catastrophe befalls them.

Opening her small mouth, Reem shouted in panic:"A mid tier- 2 beast is heading over here from that direction!!!"

Just as she said these words, and pointed at a certain direction…

ROOAAAR!!

A heavy, reverberating roar bellowed from the distance.
