《The Death God》Ch.15 The Auction

The incident in front of the gates have began to spread throughout the kingdom. People everywhere were gossiping about it like it was worth freaking out for. Many don’t know why such an incident occurred. Some say that the guards took some kind of drug while on their watch. Others say that the guards must have hated staying outside so long in front of the gates and took the stress out on their friends. The king heard of this and is trying to calm the situation down. Mostly because this was something to be curious about.
The guards who attacked each other mainly aimed for each others crotch. Breaking it forever and shall never be capable of being used again. Even with a 5th rank healing spell, it was impossible. It was like putting a severed head back onto the main body while using ‘Heal’, hoping for the head to connect back to the body. That goes for the same as the testicles. As for the guards who had their very important part of life smashed to pieces, many of them had suicide. It became a very hot topic for quite a few days actually.
Anyways, Nemaus, Akuezhor, and I are currently heading to the Magic Library Store. During these past few days in this kingdom, we signed Akuezhor as an adventure and did the F quests quickly with the help of my minions. Adding the Goblin Subjugation quest to his ring, which we kind have founded the loop hole in the system, we gave 100 goblin ears to the damn old man in the Adventurer’s Guild. We received 10 gold from 100 silver and went to the where I didn’t finish my browsing of a certain store, the Magic Library Store. So that is why I am going there.
It was quite an enjoyable time. I was quite surprised when they brought out an high-quality item. Like weren’t they rare in this world? That being said, they were way too expensive to be bought. It is not like I would be buying them anyways since I am only allowed to use one weapon because of my class. I am being more restricted than the people of this world man. They are allowed to use any kinds of weapons. The magic artifacts and weapons were cased in a glass display. I could feel the aura the weapons are displaying. Near them would be a tag with a price on them. Some of these items were,
Ice Brinsinger
A light blue sword that represents Ice. When coming into contact with a person or object, their speed will be stolen and is given to the user of this sword.
+13% Damage
Special-steals target’s speed when coming into contact with them. May vary depending on the target.
300 gold
Blue-Fire Wand
A wand capable of allowing the user to cast a blue high-tier flame which would completely burn the enemies targeted. In return, your life-force(health) would be sacrificed for every time you cast the spell that is merged with this wand.
Special-The user is capable of using ‘Blue-Flame’ spell in exchange for 2% of their life-force.
500 gold
These 2 magic weapons are examples of the magic weapons in this Magic Library Shop. All of them are over at least 250 gold. I can’t help but laugh though. I mean in this world, these “magic weapons” are extremely rare where people would backstab, betray, and kill for the treasure. I think they might even kill their very friends who they grew up with in exchange for a “priceless treasure”.
In the game, they were so common that when someone picks the high-quality weapon up, they would either trash it or not even pick it up at all. It seems in this world, when someone has a magic weapon and successfully sells it, they will be set for life with that amount of gold. That being said, what should I do with with the magic weapons I have in my inventory. If I remember correctly, I had picked up a high-class weapon by mistake, but was too lazy to browse my inventory to drop it out. What would the reaction be if I tried to sell it? Would I be hunted down? Would secret underground organizations put me on their blacklist to rob?

Never mind that. After finishing browsing the store, I heard one of the attendants in this place yelled out loud, “We are having an auction! We are having an auction! If anyone is interested, we are selling high-quality artifacts and weapons! They include Blue-FIre Wand and Ice Brinsinger, Accursed Blade, and various others.”
‘?’ Wasn’t that the weapons I just ‘Analyze’? I turned around to find the 2 weapons that were just stated by the attendant. In a few seconds, I see a couple of people in the area where Blue-Fire Wand and Ice Brinsinger is. They were currently removing them from the display and bringing it into the Auction Room located in this building. Being confused, I don’t quite comprehend it. After a couple of seconds, I collected my thoughts to attempt to understand what is going on. Asking myself a few questions, I felt as if I have reached the state of the Enlightenment. I felt pretty dumb right now.
The conclusion that I obtained was a bit funny in my opinion. It seems that the previously stated items were merely being on display for consumers to see. It was probably to show the high-quality weapon is real because of the aura it emits. I almost forgot to mention this. What I learned in this world while the time I was here, plus asking questions to others, every weapon seems to release an aura depending on the quality it is categorized in. So if it was for example, a divine magic weapon, it would release an immense aura to boot.
I wonder what Aedriha’s aura would feel like, but I don’t usually pay attention to that stuff. Anyways, I determined that the weapons that were on display was just the proof. As for the price tag, it is most likely that it was merely the starting bid for the weapon. Otherwise, it would have been bought by a noble or a wealthy man or woman. So that means I would probably never be able to buy something like a high-quality magic weapon in this world. That hurts me.
Putting my attention back in place, I followed the crowd of people who are probably going into the Auction Room in this building with Akuezhor behind me. We were slowly descending in this building. Most likely an underground area. Entering the Auction Room, I see the room is similar to that of a Coliseum with red chairs for seats. Choosing a sit in the corner of the room, I could see that hundreds of people have gathered for this occasion. Many people have came here to see a show of contest between the wealthy. As for the wealthy people, they had many guards around them. It shows how much danger having a magic weapon in your hand. Especially for the high-quality one. But, did they now think that their hired guards would kill them to take it?
Whatever, not my problem. Akuezhor sitting down next to me and asked me curiously, “Master, these items can only be seen as above average especially to one as great as you. Why did you come here if you were to not buy them?”
“Akuezhor, as you said, you didn’t come here to buy such average items. However, I thought it would be fun to watch the show of rich people using up their money for it. Doesn’t it bring you joy when you see them use almost all their money for just an magic weapon?” I said while trying to spot anymore rich people.
“I apologize for asking such a foolish question,” Akuezhor said as he raise up and bowed towards me.

“Don’t worry about it, and please sit down, we are causing a slight scene.” I said to him. The surrounding people noticed the movement of Akuezhor when he bowed, so their gazes were attracted by it because the Auction hasn’t started yet. He noticing this immediately sat back on his chair. At the same time, a young man in his 20s came onto the stadium and started his small speech.
“Welcome! As you have a heard, extremely powerful magic weapons have been found. Something that has never happened since the past hundred years. They were found in a cave in a mountain. It was said that it used to be the meeting spot of the 6 almighty gods. Who knows why it was in there and how come no one found it so far. That being said, LET’S START THE AUCTION!”
After the speech, everyone yelled and clapped in excitement. This includes the wealthy people who are contesting each other. During this loud applause, several men brought out the first item. Ice Brinsinger. Everyone in this audience were looking at it with greed and tensions grew. Sensing this, the young man said, “Also for security measures, we have hired 20 5th rank magicians and powerful warriors. Including Eric Salaam the S rank adventure. Once again, this is for security measures.”
The tensions ease a bit; however, the nobles didn’t even calm down. There eyes show that they are all more focused than ever to obtain what they desired. When all was quiet again, the young man began speaking again.
“This high-quality magic weapon is as you can see, a sword. This magic weapon allows the wielder to gain great strength while whenever you successfully strike the enemy, you would be able to steal their speed while increasing yours. It was said that whoever wields this weapon can go head to head with many of the most powerful figures in this country.” Everyone’s eyes except for Akuezhor and me turned red.
Nemaus was currently shitting right now in another spot in the Auction Room. I feel sorry for the people near that spot. Nemaus then ran back to me and sat on my shoulder. What about the leftover shit on his asshole? Well, it seemed that Nemaus had somehow mastered to way to shit clean. Damn, he doesn’t even smell like shit. It was as if he didn’t take a shit in the first place.
The young man continued, “Well, then let’s immediately start this bid. The starting bid is 300 gold!”
“350!”
“400!”
“500!”
“600!”
“1000!”
All sorts of amount of gold has been offered, but another person would bid even higher. This continued on until it reached to 3000 gold coins. The item was then removed out of the stadium and a skinny looking aristocrat seemed to have gotten it. The auction house would hold onto the magic weapon until the auction ends, or the bidded person could leave the auction and get bidded item himself or herself. I can’t help but smile at this scene. I wonder why they use so much money to buy it though. Would they receive some kind of fame? I gotta find this out later on.
“Ice Brinsinger is sold. Now the next magic weapon is Blue-Fire Wand! It allows the wielder to have access to magic of the 5th tier Blue-Flame. A magic at the peak of our human capabilities! However, in exchange you would lose a bit of your life-force. Though as long as you have a healer with you, this would be no problem. Now BID!” As he said this he spread his arms in a dramatic manner. Bids were quickly being said while the rich people were staring at each other in resentment. Isn’t this getting a bit too dangerous? Thankfully, the Auction House hired some guards. If they hadn’t, I doubt that the nobles would just sit around doing nothing but glare in hatred.
The bidding continued until a bidder won by using 4500 gold. Damn, how much money do these guys have. Hopefully, they don’t do something like leeching of farmers and peasants. Wait a minute, isn’t that the noble’s usual way of life? Whatever, it shouldn’t affect me in the slightest. Turning towards Akuezhor, I asked him,
“What do you think of this?” I asked him. Though I just noticed it was actually quite a vague question. So I made it more specific after saying it. “The people here and the price bidded for the magic weapons.”
“Yes. Master, the people here are quite desperate for those magic weapons. If someone obtains just one magic weapon, their reputation would increase by many amounts. They use the money they took, or leach from others. Thinking about the price of high-quality weapons in my opinion with the worth of gold here, they are using more money that what the value of the magic weapon is. Though if you add the part where magic weapons are rare nowadays, it is quite understandable.” Akuezhor said
“What exactly is the highest quality level?” I inquired him curiously. DIvine was the max in Elareven, but how was it here.
“The highest I seen was a Relic rank.” [Have to use the rankings in Overlord]
Legacy. I am pretty sure that is 3 ranks lower than Divine. After this thought, the auction continued and tensions just keeps increasing. The next final item is finally being presented. From the atmosphere, it seemed more valuable than the previous items. This is most likely where it would get bad.
“Now, finally the most shocking news we have received ever since the birth of this kingdom. We have obtained a Greater- quality magic weapon which is higher than high-quality!”
The most of the audience became silent while some were already expecting that.
“This particular weapon of course surpasses that of the previous magic weapons. Its name is Shibaem The Rotting! Its very ability is to drain a target’s life-force when struck and gives them a powerful poison that is very difficult to cure. Not only that, but you also gain strength, speed, and even higher defensive abilities just by holding it.”
This is starting out the same as the previous presentations; however, instead of the young man announcing the start of the bid. A person in the audience yelled out,
“5000!” Almost immediately bids were coming in like a tidal wave.
“5500!”
“7000!”
Everyone was giving either expressions of awe or resentment. For the people in awe, they were mostly people who came here for the show only. That being said, the emotions of resentment only belonged to the wealthy. But soon something unexpected happen.
“YOU FUCKER! HEY, YOU GUYS HURRY UP AND KILL THOSE BIDDERS!” one man said while ordering his guards. The guards immediately started to head over to the other bidders. Everything went into chaos. Random bystanders died from being in the way. Bidders ordering their bodyguards to defend them or kill. Some guards actually killed their client and start heading for Shibaem The Rotting out of Greed. It was literally chaos itself.
People were screaming while they died being in between the fights. The doors won’t open because of security, but it seems it more or less backfired. The Auction House hired guards joined in the fight to control the situation, but it wasn’t really help calming down everyone.
“Well then. This was totally unexpected.” I said to Akuezhor
“To me I think it was quite expected. People always tried to gain their way by force. That goes for everybody.” He said calmly
I guess I should mind my own business. This is their problem. No mine, but if they someone involve me somehow even though I am in the farthest in the room, then they shall die. Watching and enjoying the manslaughter, a couple of minutes passed and it was still continuing. Isn’t this getting too long. Why aren’t the doors opening? People are starting to escape to my corner and honestly, I want my space. So I just silently casted ‘Dark Lightning’ at the doors so that the innocent bystanders can get the hell out of here.
Losing my interest here, I got up and Akuezhor did the same and started to leave casually. We were about to get out until a stray earth lance was targeted at me. I honestly didn’t think something like this would happen. Even Akuezhor didn’t think something like that would happen as his guard was down from dozing off a bit when we were watching the fight.
The ‘Earth Lance’ hits my head, the lance shattered, and my ‘Illusion Mimicry’ was cancelled. My lich form appeared once again. My red lights came out of my skull as I was trying to repair my illusion back. This caught the attention of everyone in the room which now only consists of warriors and magicians. There were staring at me in shock. They even stopped their fight midway.
Nemaus and Akuezhor noticed this and are now looking at me as if to see how and what should we deal with this. The normally uncaring Nemaus is probably acting like this because it would cause some problems for us both if the news were too spread that there was a lich in this country.
“You two, kill them all for me.” I said unhappily. They immediately dashed towards the leftover fighters. Nemaus fried them all with his Fox-Fire and lightning while Akuezhor quickly killed them with his hidden tail. There were some that noticed what kind of situation it was and tried to escape. However, before they tried to I casted ‘Disintegrate’ which causes instant death to weak enemies. The targets slowly turned into dust while soon all the witnesses died.
I guess I should take the Shibaem The Rotting. No one seems to be looking and my information canceller spells didn’t seem to set off. So it was pretty much safe. I didn’t do it out of greed. Just felt like doing it. That’s all. After Nemaus and Akuezhor finished, we quickly checked ourselves if there was any blood on our clothes. Finishing, I activate ‘Portal’ and brought us a decent distance away from the Auction House.
