《The Death God》Ch. 11 The Goblin Massacre

After the incident with the bandits and Nemaus showing off his abilities and him eating a dragon’s flesh, I discovered Nemaus’s previous orange fur is now changing to a shade of grey. Also surprisingly, he obtained a new skill when I used ‘Analyze’ on him. That being said, his description says the following.
Nemaus
One of the nine-tailed fox species which was known for it's trickery, craftiness, and intelligence. It in takes magic power from partners they had formed pacts with ever since they were an infant. --Nemaus, currently two tail. He formed a parent and child pact with [Ridar Azzur].
Passive: Takes in the energy signature of its parent/companion and making it its own. Essentially being able to control the magic they had taken in for their use.
Passive: Permanently increased physical and magic ability by 20%
[Death]
Progress: 25%
Absorbing ¼ of the true energy signature of Death, Nemaus has now evolved into a rare-nine tailed fox species. Nether-Fox (Stage 1)
Skills: Cursed Fox-Fire Magic, Dark Lightning, Illusion Magic, Life-Force Absorption.
Unique Skill: Power Augmentation(Dragon)
With the new skills Nemaus had obtained, Power Augmentation, Increased Power, and gaining some kind of rare racial traits, he would prove to be a formidable opponent in the coming future. I can’t help but be proud of myself for raising this kid. Turning my head and looking at him, he in turn looked back at me with his slightly yellow glowing eyes. Maybe because of his Racial change, even his eyes that were at first color black is now changing. I am getting quite curious to see what would he look like when he have matured into an adult. However, that would be far in the future.
My gaze turned to the group in front of me, which consists of a merchant, and a group of childhood friends who are all showing solemn expressions and their faces. Can’t really so that I don’t understand and empathize with them. In fact, I could relate to them to some extent. When I was still in school, I heard my father was killed by a psycho with a chainsaw from one of my neighbors. And he was killed not very far from our house. I didn’t really want to believe it, but when I saw his corpse which was so altered from the chainsaw cutting him to pieces, it horrified me and made tears stream out of my eyes. My mother got into a depression for a large amount of time, and finally recovered after a few years. She realised that what she was doing won’t help her in anyway.
That being said, we are getting closer to the Village of Furtp. On a high hill we are on right now we could see a couple of wooden houses inside a stone wall that surrounds it. The village is located just beneath the foot of the mountain behind them and between the village and us, is a huge, green, flat plain. Despite being able to see our destination, it is still considerably far from where we are right now. If by an estimate, everyone could arrive there in a 2-3 hours. Telling from the location the sun in right now in the clear, blue sky, it should be around the afternoon.
Alden, Kelsy, and Mark are beginning to show signs of stress on their faces and even their breathing is getting rougher. Hudson, as always not openly showing what he is feeling right now. But he can’t really escape my senses. His heart beat is bumping and beating with adrenaline running through his body. I could feel that he is holding himself back from rushing to his home with the horse he is riding on. Wallis, the person we are escorting, could tell that his escorts aren’t in a pretty good mood today, and he just understood just a while ago that if the village has been deserted, he would lose quite a bit of profit. Especially since he paid us a hefty sum of gold. He already paid me 5 gold coins to escort him, and since he was willing to pay me this much, I deduced that the village seems to be quite wealthy.

When we sooner or later arrived to our destination, Village of Furtp, there were sounds of metal clashing metal, screaming, moans of pain, and shrieks behind the stone wall in front of us. Alden and his friends looked at each other took out their weapons and not a second later rushed into the village through the hole in the wooden gates located in another part of the wall that looked as if someone was breaching through it.
“Wallis, please wait here and use this when you are about to get attacked.” Giving the merchant a scroll which could protect the user with a sealed spell that would pretty much send attacks back in the direction which it came from, but with double to power. It is considered a high-tiered scroll, but I have way too many, and giving a few won’t make a dent to be numbers of it in my storage.
That being said, Wallis looked at me with a concerned expression. I told him that I will finish this quickly, and ran to the hole in the wooden gates and prepared myself by casting the usual ‘Mana Barrier’ around me and Nemaus. I also activated ‘Soul Sealing Barrier’ around this village. Taking a good look at the situation right now and analyzing it, all I could say and show is ‘War”.
The human villagers were all holding swords, knives, shields, spears, machete, and all other weapons that could potentially kill someone. On the other side are a huge number of goblins and some ogres. The ogres are pretty much a goblin’s larger relative, but stronger, and dumber. They were using sharpened rocks shaped as a sword I supposed and also use the weapons the villagers use when one of them died and dropped their weapon. The difference of the numbers between the villagers and goblins are about 200 to 1000. With the ratio of 1:5 respectively. This means, a really really bad situation. All the goblins and ogres who are attacking were at least all fighters. But the villagers, some of them are only kids. If anything, the most they could even do was protect themselves for just a little longer until the drop from exhaustion.
Fortunately, Alden,Kelsy, Hudson, and Mark joined in the fight. They were doing the same formations as they did just before in the bandit assault incident. Alden and Mark fighting in the front lines, Hudson shooting down as many goblins as he can and not the ogres because the arrows doesn’t seem to go through all that muscle, and Kelsy applying healing spells and the wounded and casting buffs and everyone which increased their strength slightly for a period of time. Seeing this, I joined in the fight, bringing out a scythe that isn’t Aedriha which I normally used. Bringing out a scythe that doesn’t give a dangerous impression compared to Aedriha, I started cutting the goblins and ogres all together while telling Nemaus to help out. Though I really have to use the Dragon’s Flesh in my storage as a bargain for him. Your Papa’s affection for you just dropped a bit you know?
When Nemaus and I joined in the battle, the tides of the battle starts to turn in favor for us. I kept slicing and cutting the ogres with a scythe in my right hand while casting basic spells such Lightning and Fireball with my other hand. Running, jumping, dodging, ducking, and spinning through the battlefield like the Legendary War God has descended, the goblins and ogres can’t help, but look and tremble at the sight of me massacring their allies like cutting butter for the motive of applying it on my pancakes afterwards. I soon started smiling with amusement as I killed everything that I set my eyes upon. Nemaus just like me, is rampaging and shrieking with laughter as he casted Cursed Fireball and Dark Lightning at the enemies. Many villagers who at first thought that they could win this invasion, are now fearing for their lives when Nemaus and I were killing the last 10 of the green humanoid creatures as if those guys were the only defence they had against us 2.

Finishing the last bunch, I realized what I have done to myself and the people’s impression of me. The black robes now covered in red blood, my scythe gleamed with dark-red blood, while my face is still smiling. Noticing this, I reverted to a poker face and put my scythe into my storage. Nemaus jumped onto my shoulder and pawing me to give him his meal. The villagers looked at us as if we were demons.
‘Come on. Is this the thanks I get for saving their lives.’ As I began to become depressed, Alden suddenly walked towards me. I wasn’t able to determine what is he feeling right now because he was looking down and the wet bangs he had on his forehead is covering his eyes. He is now standing in front of me gave me something extremely something unexpected. He gave me a strong hug.
“Thanksss Man.Sniff. I thought my h-home wasss about to be gone. Thanksss Mannn. Sniff”-Alden told me as he cried while hugging me. The villagers seeing this scene, changed the way they see me. Kelsy and Mark had tears in their eyes as well and looking at me with gratitude. As for Hudson, again he was trying to mask his emotions, but he can’t trick me as I could see the tears that were being hold back in his eyes.
“I’m the Village Chief, Raldnos,How could we thank you for saving us, Mister?”-A bulky man with torn, bloodied, ragged clothes was asking me.
“Name is Ridar Azzur. As for a reward, there is no need. I came here because I’m an Adventurer. I accepted a quest to subjugate the goblins in this area.” Though I think that the Adventurer Guild has made a mistake with this one. The situation was worse than they expected. Who would knew that such an amount of goblins would be here, and even then ogres are here. This doesn’t qualify as an E rank quest at all.
“In any case why you are here, you are forever grateful for saving us. If not for you we and the children would all have died a terrible and painful death. Let us take care of disposing the bodies. How about you rest in the inn after having a bath?”
“A bath would be nice. Will you be willing to show me to way to it.”
“Yes Mr.Azzur.”Raldnos the Village Chief, led me to an inn. The inn’s outer walls were colored brown. As for the sign or name of this inn. It was called Tyron Ters. Coming inside, I was brought upstairs into a luxurious blue room with a huge bed that could fit in 3 adult men with ease, and a well crafted brown chair and table in the center of the room. There was a door to the right side of the room. This room seemed like a good place to rest for a while indeed. For Nemaus though.
“Where is the bath located in this inn?” I asked
“Yes, for the bath, this room has a personal bath inside. It is that door right there.” He said as he pointed his finger to the door in the room.
“Thank you.”I smiled and thanked him
“It is us that we have to thank you,” he bowed as he said that, “Please excuse me, I will have to resume managing this place.”
“All right.”
“I will take my leave.” Raldnos left the room and the room became silent.
Taking out my Soul Orb, a huge number of souls have been collected in this battle. It is still not ready for use yet. I deactivate ‘Soul Sealing Barrier’.
Guess I should just take bath right now. Wait, when was the last time I took a bath.
‘.........’
Opening the bathroom door, I see a bathtub, a mirror, and sink. Just good enough for me. Picking up Nemaus and taking him into the bath, I washed the both of us thoroughly with a bar soap and splashed water on us to remove the foam bubbles. Nemaus was a bit difficult to handle since the water was actually a bit cold. Nevertheless, I still finished the job. Drying him and myself with a towel, I got out of the bathroom and jumped into the bed. It bounced a bit before stabilizing itself from my weight. Nemaus too then jumped on it. He then stretched his body and yawned. Closing his eyes not very soon afterwards and slept. Considering that we took a long time to kill over 500 goblins and even though he is quite formidable, it is still difficult slaying so many. Though I could do it in an instant, the villagers and everyone would die if I didn’t use my ‘Deathly Aura’ carefully.
Activating ‘Soul Sense’ I could see many villagers carrying the bodies and disposing it in another area to burn it. Thinking about taking the ogres bodies because they might useful in my storage army, I activated ‘Portal’ after making sure no one was near the area where they drop off the ogres bodies. Appearing in an area with a large number of corpses stacked together in many piles, I begin absorbing and collecting all the dead bodies after casting ‘Undead Manipulation’ on them on turning them into undead ogres and goblins.
Using ‘Portal’ again, I appeared back inside the inn in my room with Nemaus sleeping on the bed. I guess I should just chill till tomorrow. Getting to my bed and got under the bedsheets and laying my head on the pillow. I closed my eyes and [pretend] sleep until it was time to get up.
The room gets brighter, showing that the sun is now in the sky, I opened my eyes. Feeling all the metal exhaustion gone. Remembering something, I looked for and picked up Nemaus who was still sleeping, I used ‘Analyze’ again to confirm something.

Unique Skill: Power Augmentation(Dragon)
It really was that. I had my suspicions about it for a while, but I wasn’t really able to confirm it until now. Nemaus affinity to death is increased by merely being near me and absorbing my power. But he could also increase it dramatically when he is surrounded by death. By doing so, his affinity climbs up extremely quickly. I also found that the higher affinity you have for something, the harder it is for you to increase it. For me though, I didn’t really have to think about since my affinity with death and other affinities were already maxed and all. Being the creator… Well you guys get the point. Anyways regarding this thing about Death, I have to say that I have an extremely overpowered skill which shows the following
Nether God
Becoming the Nether God itself. Capable of using the Nether Element, the very essence used as a source for using the Death-Force, Dark Arts, and Necromancy. A being who drains all life away. A being that degenerates all matter. The being that destroys literally everything. The destructive part of reality which causes everything to fear it.
Passive Skill: All spells and attacks related to Nether; increased damage 250%
Active Skill: Nether Form
Unleashing your true power, you gain the following:
-Unable to be affected by anything physical.
-Anything that touches you will be drained of 15% max health and max mana per second for 5 seconds(if you wish so)
-All damage nullified
-All crowd control spells nullified(Sealing, Trapping, etc)
-All debuffs and curses nullified
*While skill is active, your mana will be drained by 5% of current mana
That being said, my point is that I really interested what Nemaus would be able to get when his affinity reach 100%. Putting Nemaus onto my shoulder, I went downstairs in the inn and when I arrived, I looked from a window and see a lot of people outside of the inn talking to each other about something. It seems that it is something dire going on. Coming out of Tyron Ters, everybody looked at me.
“Something happened?”
“Good Morning Mr.Azzur. Yes, something happened just a few hours. When we collected all the piles of corpses into an area and we were getting ready to bring the supplies to burn them, all the bodies disappeared out of nowhere when we came back.”-Raldnos
‘.......’
“Saying that, do you think we could do anything even if it suddenly disappears?” Trying my best to give them a questionable look.
“No. No, I don’t think so.”-Raldnos
“Then I can’t see what is the problem. It is not like it would affect your lives right?”
“Yes, you are right Mr.Azzur.”-Raldnos
Everyone no longer talked about the incident where all the goblins and ogres corpse disappeared which I have stolen. No, kept is the more appropriate word. I was the one who killed them all after all.

Macabre Mim
*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.

Bright Feather
I'd like to say something like this is a unique story, blah-blah, but it's not. The story itself is your typical fantasy story with magic, fightings, plot armors, good friends, beautiful ladies and whatever there always is in such stories. I pretty much enjoy typical stories. So I've decided to write one myself. The only thing is the story isn't going to be centered about the Main Character. So let's leave all of the above to him, we'll meet him eventually anyway. This is the story of MC's counterpart. While our greatest Main Character conquers the world, cultivates, and whatever else, what does his destined other half do? Sit and stoically wait for him to come out of the closed door cultivation? Really now... Just thought it might be interesting to write such a story. Let's see if I manage. I'm new to this so, dear readers, please, don't be harsh on me. But if you have some words for me, so I can improve, don't keep them to yourselves, all help is deeply appreciated. And I officially promise to be very slow and inconsistent with releases (myriads reasons for this.) But I'll still do my best to finish the story someday. WARNINGS! (I thought a lot, and in the end, I'm putting it here. Better safe than sorry.) First of all, you can probably easily guess, but English is not my native language. And everything that comes with it. I don't think that it excuses me though, so I will improve with time, but warning you nevertheless. Second: No harem, no BL, no Romance And the last but not least: Beware of psychological pressure on characters and characters' deaths. Not much, in my opinion, but still, if you're overly sensitive to violence or mind games, better drop before starting. In any case, you've been warned. With all the above said, welcome, and enjoy.
