The sound of a fork hitting a plate echoes throughout the empty house constantly as Cynthia eats the food left out for her. When Cynthia awoke she is all alone in the bed and when she checked the house, no one was home at all. The only sign of life was a bunch of random stuff on the floor of the bedroom and a warm plate of eggs and bacon.
Cynthia didn't look a gift horse in the mouth and began to eat the eggs and bacon with due haste. She always had big breakfasts and while this wasn't big, it was exceptionally good. She assumes Vert had made it but she is dead wrong. Astral is actually a really good cook and easily fixed up some breakfast for Cynthia and after that Vert had a task for them to do so they left the house.
Cynthia finally finishes her breakfast and decides that she go look for Vert because she is worried he will need Cynthia and she will not be there. Going back upstairs, Cynthia picks up her Scythe and she glances into her closet. A black sweater hangs in the closet and has some dust on it since it hasn't been worn since last winter. It is going to be cold soon so Cynthia grabs the black sweater and puts it on. It is really tight as it seems to be getting too small but Cynthia doesn't mind as all as it does what it was made to do. Cynthia takes off her skirt and puts on a long pair of cloth pants.
Ready to go, Cynthia heads out the door and into the village to ask where Vert went. Entering the village, the sound of clashing swords can be heard as Cynthia comes closer and closer to the middle of the village. With the village center coming into view, 12 people stand around Vert with swords drawn. Vert stands there, not moving, in the middle of the group of people and looks extremely focused.
The people surrounding Vert are from the supposed army he got and in Cynthia's mind, they are turning on him. Cynthia readies her Scythe to kill anyone who tries to hurt Vert but a hand is placed on her shoulder. Cynthia turns around to see the pale face of Astral and he has a warm smile.
"Don't worry, Vert is training them right now. Please do not interfere." Astral says. Cynthia nods her head to accept this and turns back to the fight. All of the 12 people have scratches all over their bodies while Vert's clothes don't even seem to be touched.
A woman is the first to take a charge towards Vert with two daggers drawn. She jumps in the air and does a twirling motion to create a whirlwind of her blades but she is going really slow in Cynthia's opinion. Her daggers are blown into the air when Vert blocks them with his gauntlets and then he puts his hand around her throat. Before Vert can do anything more, he is forced to let go and dodge the oncoming blades coming for his back.
He jumps over the person who tries to back-stab him with a twirl in the air so they are back to back, for one reason. Someone was ready to attack Vert when he landed but Vert grabs their blade and throws them into the person who tried to back-stab him. Two people use an ability on the left and right sides of Vert and go at him with a high speed attack. Vert easily grabs their blades again and redirects their momentum so they go right behind him and the other goes right in front of him. Both of them stumble into one of their allies and let out a painful grunt.

3 more people try to attack Vert consecutively but he easily steps to the side and dodges all three of them. Vert lets out a long breath and smiles widely.
"Good job everyone, you did amazing! You have all completed training for now, get some rest and make sure to eat your fill of food." Vert says happily. Cynthia is confused on how they did a good job as they never even came close to landing a hit on Vert but she thinks to herself that she is missing something. Vert turns his left and notices that Cynthia is finally awake. Vert walks up to her and Astral and gives them both a warm smile.
"They have more promise than I thought, they all work well together."
"But they didn't even come close to hitting you?" Cynthia asks quizzically. Vert shakes his head at Cynthia's remark as she was not here on what Vert wanted to teach them.
"They could never land a hit on me for as long as I lived and I know that, so I taught them something else. I taught them how to have a suffocating fight style, one that requires insane teamwork and skill to execute. They did it perfectly though, not giving me one second to breathe. That fighting style is my favorite as it can kill a single target fairly easily." Vert says with confidence. Cynthia feels dumb for doubting what Vert thought and he becomes a genius in her mind, fighting wise at least.
"So why did you stay asleep so long?" Vert asks worried. Cynthia looks up at the sun and realizes that she really had slept for a long time as it is about mid-day. Cynthia remembers being so embarrassed about sharing a bed with someone that she didn't fall asleep til really late. Cynthia blushes at this fact and she remembers the dream she had last night.
"I had a really nice dream... I didn't want to wake up." Cynthia says shyly. Vert's head tilts to the side as he is confused by this.
"But when I woke up last night, you were sweating and mumbling nonsense. What type of nice dream would involve sweating?" Vert says and Astral eyes open wide. He covers his mouth to stop himself from laughing. Cynthia's face blushes harder and she tries to push away the focus from her.
"Don't worry about it-."
"She was having a we- *muffled sounds*." Cynthia was interrupted by Astral and in response Cynthia put her hand over Astral mouth. She is laughing but nothing funny was said and her laugh sounds deadly. Cynthia looks over to Astral and her one eye that is in view turns from green to crimson red. Astral puts up his hand to show he has submitted and Cynthia removes her hand from his mouth. Vert stands there dumbfounded as he has no idea what is going on. Vert mouth opens and he seems to have gotten an idea.
"Cynthia, I don't know how strong you are. Let's do a practice fight!" Vert says confidently.
"W-W-What, right now?!" Cynthia asks while stuttering as she is caught off guard. Vert nods his head up and down and readies his fist. His expression becomes that of a focused one and it intimidates Cynthia. She has seen Vert's power and she doesn't want to be on the receiving end of that.
"I don't know. I don't want to hurt you." Cynthia says as she grips the Scythe. Vert begins to laugh loudly at what Cynthia said.

"You, hurt me?! In your dreams. You couldn't even scratch me." Vert yells confidently. Cynthia's eye brow begins to twitch to she Vert's taunting is working.
"Fine, if I manage to scratch you, you have to continue to make me breakfast every morning." Cynthia says while remembering how good breakfast was this morning. Astral decides to interject before any terms are made.
"I don't think you want that." Astral says. Cynthia turns towards Astral and gives him another death glare. Astral decides to give up now and pray for Cynthia's safety if she manages to scratch Vert.
"Alright. If I scratch you, you lose. I don't want anything if you lose, so let the fight begin!" Vert yells. Cynthia disappears and reappears in front of Vert, he laughs and steps to the side, dodging the incoming Scythe. Vert flicks Cynthia on the forehead, punishing her for missing and teasing her more. Cynthia checks for a scratch and feels nothing so she continues on with the fight, becoming more angry and motivated. She dashes towards Vert again, swinging her Scythe horizontally compared to vertically so Vert can't dodge it as easily.
The Scythe is met with extreme resistance and stops completely. Cynthia looks and and Vert has a finger on the tip of the blade and it stopped it completely. He uses his free hand and flicks her in the head again, in the same spot as well. Cynthia becomes even angrier and taps into her power given to her by Vert. Her body becomes extremely light and faster then before. She disappears and 4 slashes in the air form around Vert, all of them being sent at him. Vert sighs and drops to the ground, dodging all 4 slashes right before they hit him. On his stomach, Vert looks up and Cynthia stands above him, Scythe in the and ready to be struck down into Vert's body.
"Huh. Nice speed." Vert says and Cynthia brings the Scythe down and Vert rolls over, dodging the blade aimed for his back. Now on his back and Cynthia's Scythe stuck in the ground, Vert recovers and manages to do a kick up and land on his feet. He looks over to where Scythe was but she is gone now, only leaving a slit in the ground where her attack had missed. Cynthia decided to attack Vert from behind and is currently standing behind him. She brings down the Scythe vertically again. The Scythe is inches from Vert's head and Cynthia starts to become worried.
'He is going to dodge isn't he?!' Cynthia thinks to herself as the Scythe is literally inches away from lodging itself into the back of the God's skull. Cynthia tries to stop the momentum of the Scythe but she can't as she put extra power into her swing. Cynthia closes her eyes so she doesn't have to witness the killing of her own God, but when she does a stinging pain hits her cheek. She opens her eyes and sees Vert's hand in touching her face. He has one finger pointed outwards and it scratched Cynthia's cheek. Vert had maneuvered around the Scythe at the last moment, grabbed the long handled of the weapon and then ended the fight, all within the time span of under a second.
Astral claps his hands, impressed at the high intensity and high speed fight that has happened before him. Vert laughs and can see Cynthia is still dumbfounded but happy she didn't kill Vert. Vert gives her one last flick to the forehead and then pats her head. Cynthia drops her Scythe and rubs the spot that Vert has flicked 3 times with both of her hands.
"Owwwww, you meanie! The fight was over!" Cynthia says with a whiny voice. Vert laughs as he continues to pat her head and he is surprised at how strong Cynthia is. He can't tell if it is from the power she gets from being his hero or if it is how she was born, all Vert does know is that he is happy to have her at his side and he will not take that for granted, like the last two he was with. Vert looks around and sees that most of the people in his small army were watching and they all stand amazed. Vert can hear a few voices in his head as they pray to him. Vert feels a tiny tinge of power as they pray to him. Vert sighs and accepts the prayers to him.
The sound of a horse can be heard coming into the village and Vert finally stops patting Cynthia's head. He walks towards the sound of the horse and can see the uniform of Yuria's army. The man pulls on the reigns of the horse and the horse stops right in front of Vert.
"God of Death, Yuria, the Goddess of Protection, requests an audience with you." the messenger says while handing Vert a scroll. Vert accepts the scroll and gives the man a nod. The man turns his horse around and heads out of the village.
'Already? It hasn't even been a day. So that means her kingdom must be close if that man got here so quickly.' Vert thinks to himself. Vert turns to Cynthia.
"Looks like your training is done for now. I have to answer this so I will talk to you later." Vert says and he makes his way back to the house. Cynthia looks depressed as she is all alone again. Plus she doesn't trust that Yuria lady, she sounded like she had other plans in mind then just having as truce.
"So... A hero that has fallen in love with their God. What a cute story." Astral says while standing behind Cynthia. Cynthia lets out a surprised yelp as she forgot Astral was there.
"What do you mean 'fallen in love'?" Cynthia yells at Astral. Astral laughs and shakes his head.
"To get to someone who has had barely any social contact in over 1,000 years, you'll have to be more open about your feelings than that." Astral says. Cynthia looks confused and conflicted at what Astral.
"Barely any social contact in over 1,000 years? How do you know that?" Cynthia asks, ignoring the last part of Astral sentence.
"Vert told me about it. He was first exposed to this world no to long ago. Before that he only met people who tried to kill him. That's why he seems so carefree about everything, because he doesn't know better." Astral says. Cynthia becomes intrigued about Vert's past.
"Tell me everything you know about my God's past please." Cynthia says.
