Vert's right eye turns into an Eye of the Reaper and Vert almost begins to take the souls out of the Scythe. He realizes something though.
'Did Cynthia call me Niko?' Vert thinks to himself when remembering what Cynthia said word by word. He assumes that she had listened in to his conversation with Yuria which isn't a horrible thing but Vert will need to talk to her about it when he sees Cynthia next.
A white stream of souls begin pouring out of the Scythe and into Vert's eye as he collects the souls and sends them to the Underworld. Before he goes to sleep tonight Vert plans to go into his Underworld and check on how everything is going. He doesn't know how Myria will react to nearly a thousand random souls being introduced to her new world with Sekreath.
With the Scythe returning to its dark color, Vert twirls it around a bit as he walks towards the house. He isn't worried about firewood as he can easily get that right before winter. As Vert spins the Scythe round and round like a baton, he thinks about getting himself a new weapon soon. He wants Cynthia to keep this Scythe so she can protect herself and Vert wants more than just the claws on his gauntlets and some strong magic to protect himself.
Vert remembers the amount of loot he had back in his original room and he lets out a sigh. It would be pretty useful if he knew where his original room was so he can go get it and maybe he can find Liafa again. Vert opens the back door and can feel steam come off of him and his clothes. Wanting to give Cynthia her Scythe back, Vert goes on a search for Cynthia.
He can't find her on the first floor and he walks up the stairs to the second floor. He doesn't know the rooms on the second floor so he begins to open random doors. After about 4 doors and no luck, only one door is left and Vert decides to knock this time before opening the door. With Vert has amazing senses, he can hear a faint crying inside of the room and alarms shoot though Vert's body.

The alarms in his body isn't telling Vert to help Cynthia are she is in danger but they are telling him to run away. Something bad is happening on the other side of this door and Vert's body wants nothing to do with it, but Vert's mind and heart are telling him otherwise. He can't lose another friend just after what happened to long ago. Preparing himself for the worst, Vert bursts through the door and his eyes widen at what he see before him.
A tear in space and reality is in the middle of the room and the crying is coming from within. The tear in the middle of the room seems to be trying to take Vert's soul out of his body but his right eye seems to be preventing it to happen, even if it is struggling to do so. Vert left eye turns into an Eye of the Reaper and Vert can feel his soul no longer being pulled on.
Vert gets a little adventurous and looks into the portal like tear. Inside is darkness with the occasional white spot seen in the distance. Wanting to find Cynthia and discover what is going on, Vert puts his hand into the tear and see nothing bad happens to his body on the other side.
'Well here goes nothing.' Vert says to himself while going all the way into the tear. Once inside Vert can get a similar feeling to his Underworld and he begins to think that maybe someone has stole his hero. Anger slowly begins to bubble inside Vert as someone kidnapping someone he has plans with in the future.
Vert is floating in the dark dimension and he can actual control his flying on a full X and Y axis, making it easy for him to maneuver. Vert decides to follow the sound of crying and the tear he had entered behind him begins to fade away in the distance. Vert knows this is risky and could end with him being trapped here for the rest of eternity but if there is a chance his hero is here and she needs help then Vert will gladly do anything for her.

The attachment Vert feels to his hero is strong just as any God with their hero would be. Seraph sent his minions through the meticulous process of someone who would gel with Vert's personality and accept him for what he is. A truly cold blooded killer.
In the distance Vert can see a small girl, curled up into a ball and seems to be the source of crying Vert can hear. Vert floats faster as the jet black hair is familiar to Vert. Even if he has only known Cynthia for a day, Vert can easily tell it is her.
Finally making it to the girl, Vert goes to touch her to see what it wrong. Vert touches the girl and her head shoots upwards and she looks at Vert. Her right eye comes into view and Vert realizes what is going on. Cynthia's right eye is the Eye of the Reaper. Cynthia has always had her hair over her eye so Vert has never realized what power Cynthia holds within, and it seems that even she doesn't even know.
The Eye of the Reaper has been starved of souls and power that it seems to have collapsed on itself. When Vert received the power of the Eye of the Reaper, he gain a lot of knowledge on it and knows exactly what is going on. The girl is staring at Vert with a wide eyed expression and even looks slightly horrified.
"Who.... Who are you?" Cynthia asks. Vert laughs and gently grabs the girl by her chin and brings his face close to hers.
"Don't worry, I'll get you out of here." Vert says and a small white stream of souls flows out of Vert's right eye and into Cynthia's right eye. Cynthia tries to pull away and refuse the souls that Vert is giving since she doesn't know what is going on but Vert holds a firm grip on her face.
Vert can feel the world around him begin to bend and twist as Cynthia's Eye of the Reaper tries to resist the souls even more so it resists by creating a defense system. Swords appear from thin air and point themselves at Vert but he keeps his composure and doesn't stop feeding Cynthia the souls. The swords zoom at Vert with the intent of killing him but they stop right before they hit him. The darkness around Vert begins to melt away and Cynthia starts returning to her actual form.
Back in Cynthia's room, Cynthia is on the floor with Vert holding his face very close to hers and she has no recollection of what happened before. Blushing deeply and Cynthia looks away from Vert's eyes and then back again. Cynthia is torn about what to do now and she thinks about the situation at hand.
'I can't deny my God what he wants... But I don't think I'm ready yet...' Cynthia thinks to herself and Vert can tell that she has no idea what is going on. Vert lets go of Cynthia's face and stands up, laughing the whole time. Cynthia eyes open wide as Vert leaves the room laughing, but not before laying down the Scythe against the wall in Cynthia's room.

I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

8 835Reborn A Paladin: The Dagger Of Shadows
Mirio awakes in a strange place, surrounded by shadows, and an overwhelming hesitation about opening his eyes. A voice speaks to him in the darkness and it awakens a hidden power within him, launching him onto the path of becoming a Paladin, and towards something more. It is a semi-realistic take on being reborn and how that might feel like. It is meant to be immersive and to help you feel what it really might mean to be reborn with powers you really don't understand. The character is somewhat of a power fantasy but not outrageously so. And it is not a harem manga, but you will see some very cool things with waifu's at some point, but it must be earned!I present to you, this story for you enjoyment. Please help me make it all it can be and more. For a full size image of the cover click here
