《I Am the "God of Death", Whatever That Means. (Original)》The Pure White Scythe. Chapter 30

A black portal opens and a tall, injured man emerges from within. Vert, who still has burns and cuts causing pain to his body with every step, is in a hurry. He has lost something important and needs to get it back before anything bad happens.
'Where did my Scythe go?'
One thing that is bad about a God's first weapon is that if lost, the God has to go and find it again. Once a God touches their weapon though, they can make it disappear and resummon it whenever they want.
Vert is not necessarily wanting to confront Emeralda at the moment since he doesn't know what to say to her so he won't go and find her yet. He doesn't even know if she lived the dragon attack but by what he knows about her she should be near immortal. Using his keen vision, Vert scours the area for any hint of his Scythe. As his eyes cover the whole grasslands where the fight began, he could see the fire from the adult dragon he had killed was spreading very quickly but something was off.
There was smoke a few miles away that seemed to be caused by a fire and it was comparable to the size of the fire the dragon caused so Vert's imagination started to run wild.
'I'm sure I killed that dragon but what is the source of such a large fire so far away. Maybe some other God's are fighting. That'd be pretty ironic. Maybe I could kill them and take their souls. Hmmmmm...'
Thinking about how he would be able to fight other God Candidates while still injured, a certain scent pierces his nose. He takes a few big sniffs as the sweet smell allures Vert to it. The iron-rich smell is that of blood, and their sure is a lot of it.

Not really understanding why he can smell blood from so far away from its source, Vert decides to finally investigate what's going on. Using his insane physical abilities, Vert runs nearly the speed of light to the fire, looking like he appeared out of nowhere. As the scene changed from grasslands to thick forest, the smell of blood becomes much stronger and also the smell of rotting and burning corpses grace Vert's nose. Deciding that he would take the souls for himself and send them to his Underworld, Vert turns one of his eyes to his Eyes of the Reaper. The black hole forms inside of his pupils but nothing is being sucked into them.
Confused on why he isn't absorbing the souls, Vert thinks about all of the abilities his new eyes grants him and what their limits are.
'Eyes of the Reaper. Creates an Underworld when first activated. The first person sucked into this world will become the main power source from the Underworld so choose carefully, if not the Underworld will collapse and God Form 2 will be lost. So I luckily was fighting Myria and I can use her as a power source. Main Ability, The Gaze of Death: sucks the souls out of the weak while alive and sends them to the Underworld for Necromancy uses, is also used to send souls of anyone who is killed into the Underworld. Passive Ability, Stillness: sucks any type of power and or magic from whoever the user chooses but the user becomes immobile for the time this is in use. So I don't see what is stopping me from absorbing these souls... Hmmm.... Wait a second.'
Vert suddenly realizes what is going on, there is nothing to suck up. He remembers how the Scythe worked and he could see the souls of those who are killed but he doesn't see anything but dead bodies. No swirling balls of light like the last time seem to be near Vert. Bewildered on how this is happening, Vert is able to hear something relatively close to him and it seems to be fighting. The scene around him bends and tears as he once again moves at Mach speeds to get where he needs. He is now near what seems to be the rubble of a village and more corpses are scattered throughout the ever-growing fire. A muscular man comes into view with hands that seem to be on fire. Curious and not giving a shit about his well being, Vert decides to withstand the heat and watch what is happening play out before him.

The man seems to be losing as he body is covered in cuts and scapes and he is breathing heavily. A trickle of blood drips from his mouth as he stares into the fire with a horrified look. With a few seconds of nothing happening, Vert realizes this might be a long fight and takes a seat on a branch about 100 feet away.
'Man if only I had popcorn.'
As Vert thinks about what popcorn exactly is, a slash cuts through the fire and completely disperses it. The man who seems to be losing has expected this and brings his flaming hand to his mouth. After taking a deep breath he blows into the fire which sends it out like a dragon's breath. This flame completely engulfs everything within 100 feet in front of him. Impressed, Vert gives him a 'not bad' head nod while also clapping lightly. Expecting that he has finally won, the man stands straight up and closes his eyes to gather himself back together mentally. After a few seconds, he opens his eyes but he was too late to realize the immediate danger. The woman he has thought he killed dashes through the flames and slices the man in half with her pure white Scythe.
'Not gonna lie, that was pretty anti-climatic. Well congratulations to the winner but I'll be taking that man's soul-.'
With a quick swipe of the Scythe, the soul is slashed in half and absorbed. Realizing that this is the person who has probably killed everyone here and is the one taking their souls, Vert thinks about way to kill her. She must have a lot of souls in that Scythe so he could definitely use them in his goals to summon demon's but killing her might be a problem. She seems to be moderately strong and Vert isn't exactly 100%.
Deciding that he can just use his speed to kill her, Vert stands up in his branch and jumps off of it. Landing on the ground with a satisfying thud, Vert looks up to see an unexpected sight. The woman who he has gone to kill was standing right in front of him, Scythe pulled back and ready to cut Vert down.
"Well shit."

Author's note: I love the idea of kingdom-building novels and think the genre has a lot to offer, but I don't think many authors do them very well. Here is my attempt. The novel has a strong focus on politics and kingdom building, with occasional action and a bit of humor. Have fun. Cover was made by MrZombie Updates three times a week. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne (1870) (Completed)
In 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest is a giant narwhal. The US government assembles an expedition to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist (and narrator within the story) receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition. As the expedition travels south around Cape Horn into the Pacific Ocean, the crew finds the monster after a long search and then attack it, but the ship is damaged with the three main protagonists thrown into the water. They are quickly captured and then meet the enigmatic Captain Nemo. ~ Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne and was originally published in 1870. The novel was originally serialized between March 1869 and June 1870 in Pierre-Jules Hetzel's periodical, the Magasin d'Éducation et de Récréation. An illustrated edition, published by Hetzel in November 1871, included 111 illustrations by Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is regarded as one of the premiere adventure novels and one of Verne's greatest works, along with Around the World in Eighty Days and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
