《I Am the "God of Death", Whatever That Means. (Original)》Am I Really Worthy? Chapter 24

The mess of blood and bones was a truly horrifying sight. The group of bandits had not known what they were up against and they were truly surprised as their friends began dropping like flies. Vert looked at the souls of the bandits and harvested them quickly. He didn't feel like doing anything with them yet since he had other things on his mind.
Vert began to walk around his little village and think deeply for the first time in existence. He had realized his mistake of making a new village where the old one was and began to expect the kingdom the village was in would show up sometime soon. He didn't know how strong this kingdom was but he was sure he could win if forced into a huge scale war. He didn't want to bring Liafa into this since she was, in fact, the Goddess of Life and shouldn't be taking peoples lives but making lives instead.
'Do I really deserve to be a king. Everyone I touch just dies to begin with.'
He then turned on his God Form and touched a small flower. It turned into dust instantly and Vert shook his head in disappointment. Even the ground he stepped on began to decay.
'Maybe I should just do everyone a favor and just end this world. It seems to be full of evil people anyways.'
Vert ends up at the Town Hall and sees Sekreath inside. He starts to think about how evil it is to have killed a God and imprison him to do his will. He probably has worked hundreds of year to become a true God but to be defeated right at the end. Sure Vert wasn't just going to die there but he didn't have to kill him forever and tear away the man's free will.

As he continues to walk around and look at the beautiful houses that Liafa had made she fills his thoughts.
'Why is she so devout to me? She said she knows me from our past lives but I feel like I had done something horrible that made whoever even know my name hate me. Does someone as horrifying as me belong by her side?'
Vert began to have countless revelations about the world around him even though he didn't complete another achievement. It's as if this part inside of him had been sleeping and was just waiting to be awoken. Like Vert had broken the lock confining the thoughts deep in his mind. The childish thinking of the past Vert was no more and he became more aware of everything and every action he had done until now. Stealing someone's slave and keeping her for himself, taking a child goddess out of her comfort zone. Destroying a whole village, harvesting their souls and remaking them to his own liking. Was this really what he wanted to be remembered as? Were these the memories he wanted to have when he looked back in his life?
'No. Fuck that.'
Vert decides what he plans to do but one thing needs to happen first. The only thing he didn't question was the fact he slightly loved Emeralda and he would wait to act until she has awoken from her deep slumber.
***************
The heat is completely unbearable. The fact the God of Dragons lived inside of a volcano was expected but inconvenient to his visitors. As Myria made it to the top of the mountain, she wiped the sweat off of her forehead and let out a loud sigh. The ground began to shake intensely as a loud, rumbling voice boomed out of the lava-filled volcano.

"Who dares approach my home?"
"It is I, Goddess of Music, sister to the God of Deception."
The lava stirs and a massive head appears from the depths of the volcano. It is a massive dragon with glittering golden eyes. He raises his head to were Myria is in his sights. They now stand face to face and the size of the dragon is completely overwhelming as it stands over 10 stories tall.
"What does an idol like you want with me?"
"I heard you made a deal with my brother. I would like to know what it was."
The dragon lets a puff of smoke out of his mouth and another low rumbling was heard but it sounded more like laughing than the intimidating voice from before.
"Man, he really had fooled you well little girl."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Nevermind, your brother had asked me to help him in the completion of his final achievement for the return of my safety when he gains control of this world."
"I take it you agreed?"
"Yes, and with that, I sent in my most beautiful daughter as a sleeper agent."
"A sleeper agent?"
"Someone who doesn't know they are a sleeper agent until a command is given to them. Her instructions from Sekreath was to get as close as she could to the one known as the God of Death."
"Did she succeed?"
"Indeed."
There was a long pause as Myria was looking for more detail but she could tell the dragon was disinterested in the current situation.
"Where is she now?"
"Deactivated. Since Sekreath has been killed she has no use for me at the moment."
"Do you think I can have control of her since you have no use for her."
The dragon begins to think for a while since he doesn't know if he could trust Myria but decides that there is no problem with letting her have control for a bit. Plus it will be surely entertaining to watch what happens if Myria and the God of Death fight.
"Sure. Just don't let her get killed. If that happens we will have some problems."
With that being said the dragon put its massive nose directly in front of Myria. A small amount of smoke comes out and engulfs Myria. With this, she now has control of someone close to the man who killed her brother and would be her advantage in the upcoming battle. Myria began laughing loudly.
"Ready yourself God of Death, if not you will surely breathe your last breath."

NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.
