《Archillies Duane : The World Traveller》Vol 2 : Chapter 4

=====Vol 2 Chap 4=====
Quietly, we stood with our weapons readied, waiting for the time when we meet the Traveller.
Inka, who couldn’t continue sleeping from the constant pressure, woke up and saw us in this state, thus transforming into battle mode.
Step...Step..
Slowly, the sound of steps echoed as they descended down the stairs that connect the floor, but the more they come closer, the more I realize that…
It isn’t a single Traveller.
Currently, I can feel 4 different presences, yet only one of them is making stepping sounds, I wonder why.
Finally, the dramatic entrance has ended, and now under the dim lit dungeon, 4 vague yet different shaped things stood side by side.
“Usually, I’d go and introduce myself as the villain then kill after they struggle, but I’ll get to the point.” Said the humanoid figure abruptly, with a feminine voice.
“I’m here to take your XP, and I don’t mind taking the hero’s too, but I’ll let you go if you don’t meddle.”
“Tch.” I clicked my tongue at her statement, since I resolved myself to die with him if it comes to it.
“Oh well, I warned you-”
“Wait, wasn’t it my turn this time?” Said a metallic, dark gray orb with clearly large screws embedded on it, while surrounded by golden 5 golden rings, one small ring around the top and another around the bottom, two slightly bigger ones below and atop them, and a bigger one in the middle.
Its robotic voice sounded agitated, while it glared at the woman with its ‘Eye’.
“Tough luck, but either way, their XP is yours. Hahahahaha!” Replied a blue, big headed yet small creature that floats, having black alien eyes that makes you feel as if you were looking at the night sky.
“Can I start?” The last one of them said, ignoring the others. It was something akin to a small dragon, but it looked more ferocious and deadly, with its dark red skin containing numerous protrusions.
“Alright, let’s go.” Said the woman(?).
Once again, they slowly walked toward us, and once they crossed over a specific line..
BOOM!
The enchanted runes that Archillies prepared exploded loudly, since he fed it large amounts of mana.
We didn’t celebrate, knowing that it might have been useless, and it was proved as they came out unscathed.
Without further ado, we executed the plan that we came up with beforehand, attack them one by one.
Gripping my greatsword strongly, we dashed at the Eye-like being, breaking the ground from the strength of our steps along the way.
The Eye didn’t flinch, instead, it separated even further from the group, and they didn’t seem to be following after it.
Ignoring them momentarily, but not lowering my guard towards them, I slashed at it, but what resulted was a dull sound rather than an air cutting sound.
Having confirmed that those rings are definitely for protection, Archillies transformed his Corromium into a stick then thrust it in between the rings, however, a barrier blocked it, but he didn’t stop.

Suddenly, the stick glowed and passed through the barrier, poking the metallic eye, then the part that touched enveloped the Eye, imprisoning it.
“Bravo.” The woman said, with a sarcastic tone.
We didn’t reply but instead, I was given the role of casting a mana barrier around us so as they do not interrupt the capture.
“Ha. Ha. Ha…” The eye laughed for some reason, but that only made us more vigilant.
Then out of nowhere, a laser came out of the eye, cracking the Corromium circle.
Not wanting to let it be broken, Archillies made the Corromium change into spikes on the inside and casted numerous magics, making explosions while the spike ball contracted quickly onto the orb.
Alarmed, the eye tried to struggle, but that only further accelerated the contraction. Unfortunately, the spectators didn’t seem to be planning to stay in thay role.
“That’s enough.” The big headed being said.
With those words, my instincts yelled at me to run from this spot, and it seems Archillies listened to his as well.
Rolling off after the jump, the barrier that has several hundred thousands of mana imbued into it was obliterated, making me start to realize the difference between us.
As for the Eye, while it looked panicked, it looks as if it were quietly laughing in delight, with no visible scratches on it even though it was stabbed by the Corromium surrounding it.
Unfortunately, it seems that they were using the Eye to gauge our powers, but we were doing the same.
Up until now, we haven’t activated any type of strengthening, but there is a chance that the result will be the same no matter what.
Flushing out the bad thoughts, I stare at the Eye that once again had itself enveloped in a barrier surrounded with 5 golden rings.
“I think two of us alone are enough.” Said the dragon.
“Then come.” Ordered the Eye.
Archillies and I quickly glanced at each other before deciding to..
Activate every type of strengthening possible, except for ‘Rage’.
Sensing our change in power, their previously cheerful and laid back feeling was erased, and they stared at us seriously.
Without further ado, we dashed together towards the Eye once again, this time knowing how to defeat it.
“No you won’t.” Said the dragon before appearing in front of me.
Not even giving me a concerned expression, Archillies kept rushing towards the Eye, confident that I can take on the dragon.
“Now then, Little Hero, how about we quickly finish this?” The dragon said, before growing twice his size and glowing blue with flaming eyes.
Ignoring that, I kept going at him with a plan in mind :
Put the Corromium inside him and kill him from the inside, and I think I’ll have many chances as long as he tries to bite me or the greatsword, until then, I’ll have to dodge and intercept him if he has magic.
Just a meter before I reached him, his body started flaming blue, with his skin being charred black, yet he doesn’t seem to be in pain.

As a test, I quickly cast water magic at him, but it was evaporated just before it reached him.
“Tch.”
Without caring, he fluttered his wings then flew at me with a speed that might as well be breaking the laws of physics.
Undaunted by his charge, I clad myself in an ice armor and jumped at him while he opened his mouth to take a bite out of me.
Using that chance, I sent a thread-like object made of Corromium, and fortunately it entered his mouth safely.
Just at that moment, I made it quickly spread and moved myself out of its aim using wind magic.
Finally when it spread around his body, I made it as sharp as possible, like a taut piano string, and made it wriggle around as fast and as much as possible.
His eyes grew wide for a moment, but then I transformed the part at the mouth to be like a spearhead, then thrust it towards his brain and made it expand as much as possible.
Suddenly, his body vibrated wildly before falling down with all his gracefulness.
Then, only a moment after that, my level rose up by a considerable amount, reaching 5781.
Quickly, I equally spread all my stats around, feeling a huge power and pain welling up inside me.
Glancing at Archillies, he.. was blown away just this moment with blood flying away from him.
He crashed into the walls and sunk into it, with his body sprawled.
Hurriedly, I sent a telepathic message to him while staring at the Eye with an army of blocky robots.
“Ha. Ha.” His monotone laugh irritates me, but I didn’t do anything before quickly healing Archillies as soon as possible.
“Weakling… Oh, you killed that stupid dragon, what a shame.” He continued.
Sadly, Archillies seems to be knocked unconscious, but the robots gathered around him and attacked non-stop.
“Thank you for the experience, good night.”
No!
In the blink of an eye, I appeared in front of Archillies and casted a barrier, then fought with the robots that were inside it.
“Fu~tile.” The Eye kept saying, over and over.
Irritation welled up inside me, making unable to resist asking.
“Why do you do this?”
“Ex. Pe. Re. Ience.” it said in a separated spelling.
I glared at it, fully knowing that what they are doing is the same with what this world’s inhabitants do to the monsters, but I cannot accept it.
Anger welled up inside me, and I recognized.
Those are my enemies. They are ones that will not bat an eye to killing one another, going to other worlds just to kill Travellers.
I get it now, survival of the fittest, the strong eats the weak, and I’m not going to let them.
Power is what I need, to defeat any and all opponents threatening us for unreasonable reasons such as the one they are giving.
Power!
“Conditions successfully reached, ‘Awakening’ is commencing.”
Suddenly after this message, my body started growing hot, my right eye felt as if it was pricked with needles, making me grasp it to ease the pain
Then at the same time, I started hearing cracks.
Crac-crackcrackcrack...
“AAHHHH!”
Unable to contain the pain, I screamed.
Memories rushed to my brain with no mercy given, as if it was a vacuum that finally found an opening for molecules to enter.
...I remember now, my name, my original world, my family.. All of it..
“Ha. Ha. I’m too beautiful for you to see, righ-”
“Stop her, you stupid Robot! Can’t you see that she is awakening? Remember what happened last time because of that?” Interrupted the woman with an impatient tone before she rushed towards me.
Suddenly, the pain disappeared and what came in its place is a very comfortable feeling, making me let go of my eye.
Just after I did that, I nearly gaped my mouth due to what I’ve seen.. She is slow, in fact, very slow.
Thud. Thud.
The army of blocks didn’t stop attacking, now using their full strength to break the barrier, but before they do, I take hold of the greatsword and dash at it, tearing through it like butter before slicing the blocks in the same way.
With one slash, I was able to use the ability that requires many years of training, ‘Magic Slash’, which sends out a line of mana that cuts through anything with approximately 10 times the sharpness and cutting power, however, it requires a good mana conducting weapon and trained mana manipulation.
Passing through 10 blocky robots in a straight line, it ended with an explosion, by my will.
The strength of ‘Magic Slash’ increases depending on the quantity of mana supplied, however, it gets harder to control, but not for me.
In just a second, I had defeated over 40 robots, but the main fight is coming.
Strangely enough, the big headed creature is still floating in the back, but then I noticed Inka sneaking up behind him, so I switched my gaze elsewhere to not expose her.
Once I had cleared enough, I instantly retreated back to where Archillies is, since he had woken up.
“Are you alright?” I asked, with a concerned expression.
“Probably, but be careful, this Eye has many tricks up its sleev- or whatever is inside of it, plus the fact that it has a strong telekinetic power, so watch out.”
“I think I can defeat them, can you stand?”
“Mhm.. Hup!”
Quickly, he stood up from his kneeling position and dusted himself as if nothing happened, then we both readied our stances once again.
“Come! Rhansia!” I shouted, making my large, dark separated companion once again come into my hands, its rightful place.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Statless
Summary Alexander Weiss, an intelligent and slightly unusual man, always dreamt of becoming a mage. Sadly, reality is harsh and even his best efforts never allowed him to achieve his goal during his lifetime... or did they? One has to be careful what they wish for, lest they might live to see it fulfilled. Description Follow Alex, a man whose pursuit of magic could not even be stopped by his non-magical reality, going as far as to create it himself, only to encounter an unsurmountable obstacle shortly before achieving his lifes goal, denying him all access to these powers. His journey will take him through a miraculous world, full of wonders, magic and manic beasts trying to devour him! He will learn much about this world during his adventures, exploring individual aspects of the System and the various monsters that came from it... or did they? Strong points What you'll get from this novel is the following (read with overly enthusiastic salesman-voice) : • An ending! I'll complete it, no matter what. Well, not "no matter what", but as long as I don't unexpectedly end, this novel won't either! • Good grammar! Might not be perfect, but it's definitely good enough to not detract from the story in the slightest. I'll also fix any reported mistakes as soon as possible, be they grammatical, syntactical or just inconsistencies. • No plot-armor! Or plot-weapons! Or plot-... potions? And no plot-holes! If you see some, it's most likely information that is being witheld for future revelations! But in the (hopefully) very unlikely case of such a vile beast being encountered, please inform me immediately and I'll see to slaying it without grace! (Translation: If you see plot-holes, tell me and I'll fix them) • Logic! [Hidden : Spoilers][Hidden : More Spoilers] [Moved to Chapter [Hidden Spoiler]'s Author's Note] Marvelous, I know! • Blue Boxes! And maybe something more! • Sensible retroactive edits! Not to be confused with radioactive edits! You'll not have to re-read previous chapters, even if they get some major edits. If they were to receive new information, I'll add that very information to the newly released chapters too, in a reasonable way. • Realism! Shocking, I know! Especially considering the tag related to that and the point about "Logic!". This also means that the story will be... well, realistically depicting a pretty messed up world. Don't expect bunnies... at least not cute ones. • Relatively faster paced! No long and boring descriptions of irrelevant stuff. There will be some longer descriptions about important things, but that's gonna be necessary world- and/or character-building! • Short action! Might not be a plus for some, but you won't have to look at a whole (or, god forbit, multiple) chapter describing a fight against the same enemy... • Strategy and hard progression! It's a dog-eat-dog world! No grinding/power-creep! If you're up against three enemies of your level at once, you've already lost! • Understanding! It will be mostly about discovering the wonders of this new world and how it became like that, all while trying to survive. So there will be enough action nonetheless! • Humor! Sometimes dark, sometimes light, always at the worst moment! • Constructive critics, welcome! Destructive critics, nope... I can handle criticism though, so don't go easy on me! Just make sure it's really a mistake when complaining about something. • Will add more in the future! If I can think of more stuff...

Her name is Rohdindae, it comes from the Silmarillion and loosely translates to Horse of the Silent Shadows. We went all over this side of the Mississippi together. To places long forgotten by progress or filled to their capacity with humanity. Interesting word humanity, it means all off human kind in one definition, generosity and compassion in another. The people I met, stories I listened to, and the loves I saw grow, all find themselves here, mixed within these pages.
