《Archillies Duane : The World Traveller》Chapter 19

After hopping on tree branches for a while, we got out of the forest onto the road.
The base lies on the other side of the forest, since the road is made to ‘Pass through it’.
Albeit more dangerous, it was faster than going around the whole forest, which would take 3 weeks, while this would only take half.
Anyhow, we started hopping on the other side of the forest once again, until we reached a fortress.
If my estimation is correct.. This was Khol Fortress.
It has a pretty nice history, as it was made when an influx of monsters came to a century ago.
The fortress was well made, but it was not enough against those monsters.
Until a man named Khol came, and lead the soldiers with various tactics, eliminating more monsters than ever.
Ever since that day, the fortress has been named ‘Khol Fortress’ in respect to his smarts and bravery.
However, right now the fortress is plagued by bandits and thieves, and the government doesn’t seem to care about it at the moment.
We both activated ‘Sneak’, and went to the walls.
Made of stone and as high as 3 floors, it looked pretty sturdy, but out of spite from them not taking care of it well, I took out my Magic Gun and switched to ‘Explosive’ mode.
In this mode, shots explode upon impact, just like a rocket launcher’s, except the fact that the speed is faster and more powerful.
I didn’t have a chance to test it before, but here it is.
Aiming directly at their quarters on my right, which I could see due to ‘Predator’s Eyes’, I pulled the trigger, and not even a second later, an explosion ate away the walls, while pushing the surviving stones inwards.
The people who were not struck by the impact were then hit by the stones, destroying many in the process.
Dean had his mouth gaping until I glared at him for staring for too long.
“Come on..-!”
Just as I crossed the line where the outer layer of the wall was made, I felt something wrong.
Trying my best so shrug it off, it got harsher the deeper I got into the fortress.
That is, until I reached the training room.
Inside, I was greeted by about 20 people, with one of them standing at the back.
The one, who I’m assuming is the leader, gives off a special glow that makes him seem familiar.

“Oh, a fellow world traveller, eh?” is what he said.
I stood there, dumbfounded.
So that is how I recognize other world travellers..
Using ‘Inspect’, I learned that he is still a Beginner World Traveller, just like me, however, he is on the verge of reaching Intermediate.
I told Dean to go and take care of the minions, while I ‘talk’ with the leader.
“Well then, never thought I’d meet one so soon.. When did you get here?”
I asked.
“Ahaha, that is a long story, I don’t think you will like it… Besides, you won’t live long enough to enjoy it.”
He said, then smirked.
With a not so buff body yet not so slim, his scarred face irks me.
As his disheveled black hair swayed due to the intense air magic that is being used on the sidelines, he readied his dual axes.
With a posture reeking of professionalism, he dashed at me with his smirk still in place.
Suddenly, his body divided into four, and they all surrounded me.
However, due to my ‘Predator’s Eyes’, I was able to locate the real one, to my left, and slashed at him with my dual scythe.
Activating the Ki series and Body Strengthening, it went at him with great speed, more than what he could imagine, and slashed through his flesh diagonally.
Blood kept dropping on the ground as he held off a groan, then used ‘Heal’.
Not letting him continue, I circled behind him, and stabbed both scythes into his neck, both left and right, then pushed, until they both passed through.
His head dropped on the ground before his body did, and I felt my body get hot.
Not just ‘Hot’, it felt as if I was burning, making me fall on my knees while sweating profusely.
Unable to move, I quickly cast multiple barriers, then ordered the Bodies to protect me, while the constant ringing sound echoed in my head.
Not even a second after my order was issued, my mind blacked out.
….
I opened my eyes, and I see…
My class?
The light of day enters through the window, while the empty room is in silence.
I tried to move, to find myself floating with a ghost-like body.
With that in mind, I tried to move through walls.
Oh, it works!
Time to do some pla- experiments.
I go outside while looking at the sun.
Not knowing why, I seem to be attracted to it like a moth to flame.

Mustering up all my willpower, I turned away from it, and went towards my house.
Looking over the window, I could see my mother sitting on the couch with bags under her eyes.
…
If I’m correct, then I should be able to go here soon.
Not able to keep looking at her, I decided to go look at how my friends are doing.
Did you think that I was a loner?
Ha ha, no, I don’t think I can live in sanity alone.
Sadly, I never had any girl friends, so I have to deal with it with my poker face.
His house is just a few blocks away from mine, so it didn’t take long to reach.
Supposedly he lives alone, so we hang out a lot when we have time.
Huh, the windows are closed..
I put my head inside, but it just took me two seconds to pull it out.
You don’t want to know what’s inside..
I flew over to my other friend but sadly, he wasn’t there.
Not knowing what to do, I flew aimlessly around the neighborhood, until I stumbled upon a mugger in broad daylight.
Do those people have no mind?
The man, wearing all black and holding a pocket knife while aiming it at an average-looking woman, was threatening her.
Not knowing what to do, I tried to invoke my psychic ability to make him trip, which surprisingly worked.
Just as he fell, the lady ran out of the alley, and to the main street she went.
Once he got up, he looked around frantically, not knowing how he tripped, but soon sighed and went off to find his next victim.
Not wanting to leave him alone, I sneakily took out his pocket knife, and then threw it in a nearby trash can.
This should do the trick, no?
Back to aimless floating, huh..
How about going for a journey inside a volcano or underwater, this should be fun.
….
16 hours later, I’m still not back in my body.
I got so bored that I went to hospitals and to rooms where pregnant women or wounded people get fixed up, and acted as if I were them.
It was fun while it lasted, but I got bored once again.
I tried to will myself to my body a couple of times, but they never worked..
In the meantime, it was fun looking at new species of fish and seeing the red hot magma.
I also went to libraries and started the ‘touch every book’ mode, allowing me to learn a lot without even touching them.
While I was at it, I had a few ‘Special’ encounters, just like my friend’s, but I shouldn’t dwell on that.
Finally, I got an idea.
Why not go into the sun? It will probably take me a few years but that doesn’t matter, eh?
Just as I got up to the clouds, I got dizzy.
Darn, not so soon, I want to reach the sun…
Those were my thoughts before I once again blacked out.
…
I opened my eyes and I found myself inside a bloodbath.
Not literally, just a metaphor.
The barrier kept out any blood and grimes, so it was all good.
I cancelled the barriers, then went over to the sitting Dean.
“What happened?”
I asked.
“Well, you collapsed, and I had to take care of the 19 people alone… if not for my immortal body and your ‘Bodies’, I would have been dead a million times now.”
A chuckle came out of my mouth, since he looked as if he had a terrible nightmare.
“Come on, we have some treasures to get, hmm?”
Allowing the Bodies to use my ‘Pocket Dimension’, I told them to go and gather anything they deem as ‘loot’.
In the meantime, I had the memories of the now-dead bandits, plus my ‘Map’, so it was easy to locate the treasure room.
It had many enchantments and seals on it, just like the ones in the royal library, but I configured it with my ‘great knowledge’ of enchantments and seals, so it would open up for me.
Inside were many treasures, be it swords or gold, it was all there, so I thought..
Why not take it all in?
With that, I drained this fortress of it’s treasures, and went outside, checking the Status screen.
Mhm, I have indeed advanced to Intermediate, so I checked my Ability list, and I could see that ‘World Travel’ is unlocked.
I checked its description, and it says that there is a cooldown of a whole month.
Although that is too much, I was still happy, humming as I went back to the camp.
