《A Knight's Promise》Chapter 1 Part 2: A Knight's Regret

Kent looked around to see one of his friends from the Strike team John Marcus *Marky* Andersmith is the cool and collective member of the group, he has slightly pale skin, red eyes, and short red hair. He wears the tactical cloaking armor type 4 which has a phase shifter ability that can move through solid objects. His gun is the next generation Phase shift Berretta Sniper rifle that can one-shot a tank.
"General, glad you can make it." Marky said as he took off his helmet.
"Sorry I am late my friend, status report."
"It's not looking good general, Lady winter dropped off the medical supplies we had on the Night Hawk and there are still more wounded coming in from all directions. The team and what handful of marines that regrouped here are helping the wounded Lily and Micheal are doing what they can to help but it won't matter if we can't end this battle." Marky explained while reloading his gun.
"Right then I am authorizing the deployment of a field hospital... Call it in Marky."
The corporal called to the Night Dreamer requesting to deploy a deployable field hospital with the access code given to the Night Dreamer, Marky threw a green smoke flare at the ruined building right next to the city center.
At the planetary orbit, the Night Dreamer received the coordinates from the ground team for medical support and a field hospital. The port side hangar bay claw arms took out a 24x24 square meter long container and equipped it with boosters and atmospheric shielding as it dropped it from high orbit by a drop pod.
Several minutes later the area marked by Marky with a green smoke was instantly crushed under the sheer weight of the pod. Using the arms on the drop pod it self deployed the field hospital as it expanded to a massive three-floored hospital that can accommodate over 500 people at once.
With gunships escorting over 200 doctors with 320 nurses were deployed to the ground under orders from their Lord. They immediately started helping the critically injured and provided medical care for those who need it.
"This is what we can do for now... Marky, tell Willow and her marines set up a perimeter around the medical facility and guard the inside as well... With this war going on chaos will not be far behind."
"Got it, General... By the way sir, Rex found the girls you referred to earlier they are in the city hall receiving medical treatment from Lily."
"Okay Bless Faith this day... *sigh of relief* keep an overwatch over the area if anything goes you know what to do Marky."
With a nod from Marky, he activated his grappling hook and climbed on top of the city hall and began watching the perimeter of the city square.
He walked towards the city hall when a child all skin and bone approached Kent as she simply tugged his belt cape begging for food.
"Please, good sir... May I have some food for mommy?" she cried out to the knight
One of the more strict knights monitoring the square saw the depraved child and immediately approached her and tried to pull her away from his lord.

Kent turned his attention to the child and knelt before her as he took off his faceplate the child was desperate for any food she could get despite her condition being on the verge of death herself.
"Little one tell me your name?" Kent asked.
"I am Isabella good sir..." The child cried.
"Little Isabella, you are very brave to go out of your mother's tent to find food for her... You are such a good child I shall give your mother some food and you as well but first you must not cry... You are very courageous to go into danger for such bravery."
He followed the child back to the tent where her mother was receiving medical care from one of the doctors.
Kent ordered the marine guarding the tent to bring the child's mother to the hospital for immediate medical care. He will not lose another life on Ren'veil Kent asked the child to be brave for her mother and told her that the marines and the knights will protect them no matter the cost.
Though the child was brave to ask the Knight lord for aide he did not care about his rank all he cared about was saving the lives of those he could that day. The Marine was surprised to see the Knight lord show compassion for the child's mother and gladly followed Kent's orders to aide them.
Many of these marines are conscripted or had re-enlisted to the Dragon-wolf kingdom during the 2nd war.
To the Empire, any Xerrohnian who signs up to become a marine depending on the legion will only be treated less than dirt by their knight counterparts or as cannon fodder or in worse case an insurance policy.
On the other hand, the Kingdom treats the marines with respect, honor, and with great care that is why out of all the legions within the Empire. Only the Dragon-wolf's marines suffered little casualties because of the training, quality of armor, and degree of trust between knight and marine.
A symbol of trust among knights and marines is a simple shoulder tap or a fist bump depending on the company leader this is commonly used as a gesture of friendship amongst the marines but for a Knight especially a knight lord to show such a level of trust is unheard of in the Empire but in the kingdom, it is a showcase of respect and trust to the Zerrohnian Marines.
After some time Kent learned much about the situation of the people and the horrible conditions the New Kingdom had placed upon the free cities. He reached the city hall where most if not all members of the Strike team had stationed themselves.
After entering the city hall Kent asked for a situation report as the battle throughout the city was spiraling out of control.
Rex explained to Kent about the situation of the civilians before they arrived and the brutal punishments they endured against their new king. The Heroes of Ren'veil led the rebellion against the king Miko as he threatened to destroy all mages, priestesses, religion and all forms of free expression threatened all of Ren'veil.
During the year he was sent back to New Dawn, 9 of the 15 cities had fallen to the New Kingdom's influence and military might. With 6,500 mages and 3,000 Priestesses had already been captured or enslaved by King Nero, Rio Swordtaker leads the army that was heading west to the Elven groves.

The Elven armies and the tinker race are holding the army back in the west while half of the main force is attempting to crush all resistance in the cities near the capital.
According to Rex the Rebellion was to make their last stand in Elpida city and they were all supposedly crushed today but thanks to the arrival of the Sky raider army's arrival hope seemed to have been given back to the people.
Though the hope of the people was given back to them the battle was still far from over before Kent left Rex informed him of the girls he was asked to find and told him of their situation.
Silence echoed within the meeting room the captain knew he that Kent was extremely worried for them but not to the point that Kent would be stunned silent. Rex led Kent to the end of the hall where Lily is treating the two before he opened the door his heart raced out of control.
Kent took a deep breath and mustered all his courage to face them when he opened the door he saw two girls resting.
One of the girls is Aisha Ayekawa is the Daughter of Alishya Ayekawa and John Daniel Foresight. She is Kent's first friends on Ren'veil and is responsible for summoning Kent to their world during the war of the demon king.
Aisha has long Silky Violet hair, pinkish fair skin, purple eyes, and a blissful body despite her front isn't as big as Yuuno and or Reona's.
She normally ties her hair upbraids but she can also rock twin ponytails with two Violet ribbons. She normally wears a long white open back blouse with a Violet Knee-high skirt with feathered boots and thigh-high violet stockings, she is often seen wearing a pair of small chime-bells on her right wrist embroidered with a four-leaf flower.
Resting next to her is Yuuno Fullvrink a rank 5 priestess of Ren'Veil she is well respected by her peers and aspired by many suitors but she rejected them all for her title as sage.
She recognizes no one other than her friends, family, and somehow Kent in a romantic way despite his heart belongs to Aisha. Yuuno wears a black kimono with gold and brown lining on the dress, brown sandals, and knee-high stockings, she is well known for her skill with the spear and spirit magic.
He walked towards the two Lily or Lilian Starseeker a member of the Strike Team and considered sister to Kent. She is 6 foot and 3 inches tall, short black hair, black eyes, and pinkish fair skin, she also has a tattoo on her left arm with the emblem of the Redridge family.
She usually wears a black nano-fiber skin mesh suit with black and red stripes a special medical/stealth suit built by Kent Redridge himself for his considered sister. Lily is rank 73 doctor which is considered as the highest rank ever achieved by a human in the Dragon-wolf kingdom.
Lily is known among the sky raiders as the Blackhearted beauty, she earned that title for being the only human to have passed the right of the shadow walk which is a trial for assassins to achieve.
Lily proudly serves as a considered sister, liaison, advisor, personal doctor, and Aide for Kent Redridge on or off the battlefield.
Kent pleaded with his sister to allow him to see the two knowing he could just order her to let him see the two. Kent retained his humility and remained as a knight who respects the authority of those who earned his respect.
Lily could tell the sincerity and fear in his voice she realized right away that Kent the person who can take on 30,000 ranked 89 knights head-on in a contest of strength, a knight who shows no fear in battle, and the only knight to take on Victor Redridge and the ARC-zero suit that is rumored to overpower it's opponents strength regardless of their own ranking.
She saw in his eyes compassion for the two people that lie in the medical bed and the fear of losing them.
Lily hesitated at first but knowing her own brother and friend was begging to see them broke her heart knowing that he finally learned what it meant to be human. She gave him 2 minutes to see them no more no less the Knight Lord smiled and embraced her thanking her for such a chance.
With a heavy sigh, he looked towards the two who were barely conscious he sat down next to them and prayed for their full recovery.
He started to rabble about the first time they met and how the two taught him of compassion, humility, and what it is to be human. His heart grieved for them and dreaded the thought of losing them both stayed in his mind fearing their dreams may never come true.
The Knight Lord promised to them that he would return and build a better world for them if Faith permitted him a family with the two he did not care about the judgment of others. Only the thought of the two stayed with him and could not bear the thought of losing them.
He held their hands firmly against his forehead grasping what he needed to do as the battle began to rage out of control outside the safe area.
Lily barged into the room telling Kent the battle in the western gate is getting out of hand more and more reinforcements from the new kingdom came out of nowhere. Khorn and the other captains are able to hold them back on their own but due to a large number of enemies outflanking the knights.
The Knight Lord stood from his chair asking Lily to protect the two he quickly ran out the city hall and jumped back into the fray with his blades in had he cleaved his way through the battlefield without a single ounce of fear in his eyes.
Though his heart yearns for their safety his mind and spirit demanded to end the battle as the voices within his head cried out in pain.
A much bigger battle awaited them beyond the city gates as the hunger closes in watching and waiting for their progenitor to call out to them.
