Everyone was staring, none of them was going on, and had the same question in mind as me.
“Keith, can you follow me to the principal's office. Don’t worry, you aren’t in trouble, I just need to get confirmation on something.”
“Uh, sure.”, I am then led towards the office, until we meet with the principle. The principle notices me and is already able to tell what is going to happen.
“Principle Aaron, I wanted to know if there is something particular that I should know about my student here.”
“Yes… I am deeply sorry, I forgot to notify you about Keith’s rare case. You see, Keith here is not actually able to use lightning magic. For now, we can only label him as a Darkness and Light magic user.”
“But principle, during the training session, the magic he used was lightning magic.”, the principle was shocked at the news and looked at me, he noticed both my confused look at this news, as well as the seals on my arm.
“But we used the permanent examination tool to test him out, there was no sign of lightning magic that was present inside his mana vessels.”
“I can say for sure her used lightning magic, as someone who uses lightning magic myself. Not only that, but a on a dangerous level as well.”
“I see, thank you for this information, try to teach Keith how to minimize his power, I will send this news to the research time whom are in charge of investigating Keith’s case. But this reminds me, the extreme amount of shine in Keith’s examination is most probably the reason for his abnormally high level of magic.”, I was dismissed together with teacher afterwards, the teacher did her best to make sure I was thought on how to control my magic level. She said that according to the principle witnessing your examination, if Magic Levels can only be listed as either Low, Medium, High or Massive, my magic level would be something much above that which does not have an official title yet. Class ends and I am forced to stay to continue my training to control my magic. If my magic was left untrained and unchecked, a major catastrophe would occur in the school, with a large chance of deaths. I was not ready to kill someone, so I was very obedient when it came to forced training. Many days of endless school and afterschool training pass by. I get ready to leave school and take a rest in my dormitory room, but am stopped by Luna as she was waiting by the door. Because of the fast paced environment around here, I was not able to commute with Luna much.

“Hey Keith”
“What's going on Luna, you usually don’t wait for me.”
“Well I have been wondering what’s going on, why are you getting supplementary lessons? Are you that weak? Haha.”
“No actually the opposite, I am forced to take lessons to control my magic, so I do not get anyone in danger due to my lack of control.”, she is silent for a moment.
“Wow that sounds scary. By the way, what room do you live in.”
“C13, why”
“Just if I get bored, none of the students here are easy to get along with, especially since a majority of them are nobles, and they know i'm not one.”
“Haha, I apologize on their behalf”
“Don’t worry about it, all I need is one friend anyway, also, I am able to meet with Casey once in a while, but I wonder how Riley’s doing.”
“I am sure he is already the strongest of the first years.”
“True, he deserved it.”, we part ways, as time continues to flow and the endless school days are brought to our attention.

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
