《Battlefront》author's note-IV

Hey people! After coding non-stop for 6 hrs, i have written the previous chapter. Right now i am quite sleepy and i still have lot of work to finish before i submit it tomorrow. So sorry if there are any mistakes i will correct them tomorrow. The main reason i am typing this is i want to talk about fantasy genre little bit. Not to brag but i have read a lot of books in fantasy genre. It came to a point that there are no more good quality fantasy books left for me to read in english language. Wait, i am bragging!
What i want talk about is, what i understood about fantasy genre's appeal to readers or audience. In almost all the books i have read there will be a protagonist or group of protagonists. There will be Antagonist or a group of them. Our heroes will fight against the villians and win against them. No confusion about our heroes destinies. Unlike the real world you have do not have to constantly worry about every variable like, should do this course?, should i change this job?, should i start my own start up company?, NO! our heroes have none of those problems. They all have clear cut goals. Get strong or get lucky and defeat/kill your enemy. Then the fairy tail ending.
All the popular fantasy books have this premise. Of course authors try to make twist and turns here and there in the plot line. But if the reader with a cool head thinks about it rather than overly emotionally investing in the characters, the reader will know that MC taking out the villain is the inevitable ending. Look at extremely famous books, LOTR, Harry potter series, belgariad series, percy jackson series etc; And if author tried to be little bit different, readers will throw a worldwide fit! Poor J.K Rowling had to change her 7th book twice! Not once but twice!

But after 2007, somehow there is a considerable change in reader's taste. The less popular works where MC doesn't get everything, started getting more popular. Works like Bartimaeus trilogy, Malazan empire, farseer triology had more reselling after 2007. I dont have to tell about GOT(game of thrones). It only got world wide popularity after 2009.
Though there are complaints that, "What's the point of reading fantasy if it is full of reality? There is a reason why fantasy comes under fiction category." Well all i can say is that, we are at a point where every person has at-least one type of fantasy work they can enjoy. So that should be good enough. For the people who did not read this, well you missed a good note. For the people who read it, thank you for sharing this frozen thought- GOOD [th_057_.gif] [th_095_.gif] NIGHT! UTC timings
