Chapter 40: It ended like that!?

I slowly take a breath of the fresh air mixed with a hint of volcanic gasses. The few clouds in the sky doing nothing to cover up the hot sun looming over our heads.

“Logan, is something on your mind, so I inquire.”

“Oh, Saunderson. Yeah. I have got thinking about a few things.” I look towards Claire ad Amy as they wandered the path ahead of Saunderson and myself.

“This one believes that you are thinking things that are unnecessary, so I declare.” Saunderson says this to me, but is admiring the scenery.

“Well. A lot has happened. I was worried about my relationship with Claire. I got you and Amy together after a few pushes from Claire, and now I am trying to set up Dominic and Ashley.”

“This one does not see the point you are trying to make, so I declare.”

“I feel as if I am pushing the lack of romantic build up that didn’t happen between myself and Claire, on to other people. I’m worried that I will just push people away again.”

“This one… is unsure of how to console you. However, this one will offer up some advice instead. This one believes that everything is meant to happen in one way or another, it just happened that you were the one to give the push for those who needed it. I do not believe it was the wrong thing to do, but nor can I say it was the correct thing to do. This one believes that you are the only one that can decide if a decision you make is right or wrong, so I declare.”

“Saunderson… since when did you talk so much?” I laugh as I poke at Saunderson.

“This one believes it is the influence this one has received from yourself.” He just smiles pleasantly at me, then walks at a faster pace to catch up to the others standing and waiting for us at the end of the path.

Maybe I am just overthinking it. I have done what I have done, and I have been pushing things on to other people that I shouldn’t have. This day marks the change of a new me! I will no longer be the old Logan! I will now be the better man, striving to improve myself with every breath!

Or so I said…

“Logan, do you know what you did wrong?” Claire looks at me with a disapproving glare as I sit on my knees in front of her.

“I cannot think of anything in particular that I did wrong at this point in time…” I look towards the ground. I think I know what I did wrong.

“Oh really? Why do you look guilty if you did nothing wrong?” Claire crouches down to eye level. Claire was wearing a summer dress that neatly covered her knees, so no pleasant views for me.

“Um… Was it the fact that I didn’t really talk to you during the time we were at the volcanoes?”

“That’s exactly it! You ignored me when I was talking to you, you looked off in the distance with a blank stare and didn’t talk to me for a minute after our first conversation.” Claire stands up and starts pacing around me.

“I’m sorry Claire… I didn’t mean to ignore you…”

“That isn’t why I am upset!” Claire forces me to stand up. “Why do you think I am upset?” Claire looks in my eyes with an uncharacteristically serious expression.

“Because… I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going and could have gotten hurt?” I avoid direct eye contact with Claire, the seriousness making me nervous.

Another thing I would like to mention here as well. We are in a public area. The bus had stopped to give students free time to roam around for a meal. Claire and I were wandering around and I asked Claire where she wanted to go for food and she snapped.

“Wrong! Well… not entirely, it would make me really sad if I lost you. Devastated even.” Claire smiles lightly, “Logan, I am angry because you are clearly thinking about something that is bothering you and you didn’t even stop for a second to consult me.”

Oh…

I kneel back on the ground and slam my head on the ground, “I’m so sorry, Claire!” I apologize profusely, causing even more people to stare.

“Logan… I’m not angry… however, I would like you to consult me if anything bothers you. Anything, and I mean it.” I hear Claire laugh while my head is on the ground. “Now get up Logan, people are looking.”

“I can’t see them so it means they aren’t there… right?” I nervously keep my eyes closed with my head on the ground. There really are a lot of people in Hawaii, aren’t there?

“Oh yeah… I almost forgot you had that kind of fear. I thought it went away.” I feel a hand on my side and shoulder, helping me to my feet.

“Thanks… I’m just going to keep my eyes closed until we get away from the totally non-existent crowd.”

“No problem.” Claire moves and holds on to my good arm as she leads me around. After a short while I feel something soft on my lips.

I quickly open my eyes and see it was a kiss from Claire. Claire smiles as she keeps her face directly in front of mine.

“Now then, let’s eat!” Claire wanders off, no longer holding on to me, and I quickly follow.

“What would you like to eat?” I carefully ask, hoping silently she doesn’t get mad again. I catch up to her with a light jog.

“You!” Claire turns around after stopping suddenly and kisses me again. “Ha, but I think I want something a bit meatier…”

“That hurts you know…” I sigh as I look at Claire with a smile.

“As it should. Okay, now seriously, I want something sweet.”

“I’ll take some of you then.” I smile mischievously.

“Clever.” Claire smiles and starts to walk towards the open market, “Let’s see if we can find something fresh to eat.”

“Sure.” I wander with Claire, holding her hand as we walked. “I wonder if they have any sweet breads. I just started to think about breads now for some odd reason.”

“Kay! Let’s go look!” Claire happily walks close to me as we make it to the market.

Claire and I wander the market we found looking for some food as we suddenly turn towards a large gathering of people. Claire and I nod as we look at each other and wander towards the crowd to see what they are looking at.

“Stop! Please just stop with this!”

“W-why!? I didn’t do anything!?”

“That’s what bothers me! Why have you changed so much just for me!? Why not go after Logan!? Become his first mistress or something! I have no future! He has something ahead of him. I do not.”

“I-I I love you th-though!”

“Yes, and I’ve heard that almost a thousand times from you! You were so crazy before and now you are acting like none of that even happened!”

It was Dominic yelling at Ashley in a public place, gathering a crowd. Ashley looks as if she is about to burst into tears. Claire is about to step forward when I say, “Claire, give me your phone.”

“Um… Okay?” Claire hands me her phone and starts to walk through the crowd, but I grab her shoulder and shake my head, she frowns, but stops.

I put Dominic’s number in to the phone and call it. I hope he picks up…

“Hello? Who is this, I am rather busy.” Dominic’s voice comes through the phone.

“It’s Logan, I want to have a word with you, but there isn’t time for that. I want you to say exactly this. ‘I’m truly sorry Ashley…”

I hear Dominic start to repeat after me, “I am very truly sorry. I know how hard it must have been on you to change yourself just for me, but you don’t need to do all this for me. We will try this again, but for now, I think it is best if I leave.”

Ashley looks at him as tears start to run down her face, “I tried so hard for you! I tried to be like the girls you like, I tried… but I don’t want to try for someone that doesn’t even love me back no matter how hard I try for him!”

After I put the phone back in Claire’s purse, I look towards Claire and smile, “I’ll take him if you take her, meet back at the room after the day is done?”

“Deal, but you owe me.”

“I know. I owe you more than I will ever be able to give you, but we should really hurry if we want Dominic to be able to appear in public again.”

I walk through the crowd and arrive beside Dominic in almost no time flat. Claire following through the hole in the crowd I created.

“Dominic, it’s time to go. Hug Ashley.” Dominic looks at me with a glare.

“Why sho-”

“DO IT!” I shout at him with a look of pure anger on my face.

He jumps back, clearly startled by my shout, but he turns towards Ashley and quickly hugs her, dodging the flailing arms he quickly walks back towards me with a frown on his face.

“We are leaving now.” I turn to walk out of the crowd and head towards the nearest restaurant, which happens to be a normal fast food place.

Dominic reluctantly follows me in to the building and stand in line beside me as we wait to order something to eat.

“What would you like Dominic?”

“I’m sorry, I already ate.” Dominic looks down, his expression worsening with every second.

“Kay, I’ll get you a large fountain drink.” I look at the menu and think of what I want to order.

“T-thanks…” Dominic starts to look sad now.

I look away from him as I start to order a chicken sandwich and two large drinks. I pass him offer him one of the cups from the tray and he slowly grabs the cup.

“So, you regret it yet?” I look towards Dominic with a calm expression as we finally sit down at a table.

“Yes… I completely regret it.” Dominic sips slowly from his pop.

“Good. Now, tell me, why did you flip out?”

“I… I think I actually liked Ashley before she changed… I think.”

“You think?” I let out a sigh, “Well, at least you are doing better than most. I would like to apologize to you Dominic. For everything.”

“Wha-”

“Let me continue. What I mean is, I’m sorry for forcing you in to so many awkward situations, be it now or then.”

“Oi, since when did you start getting so squishy?” Dominic says as he pokes at me.

I swat his hand away, “No, I’m being serious. I’m really sorry for changing Ashley and then basically forcing you in to going out with her all day.”

“Dude, it isn’t like you to be so serious. I’m not really upset either though. It has been a learning experience for me and it was rather embarrassing for me to flip out like that in such a busy area.”

“What did you learn?” I take a large bite out of my sandwich.

“I learned my true feelings for Ashley and that I don’t like it when people change just to try and impress me.” Dominic smiles gently as he takes a sip from his pop.

“So, this conversation went better than expected. Want to go find somewhere to play games?”

“Don’t we have to go back to the bus and continue the day?”

I pull out my phone and make a quick call, “Ah hello.”

“Hey Logan, how was the crossdressing?”

“Ah, she really did tell you, anyways, can you let the people in charge of this trip know that Claire, Ashley, Dominic and myself will not be going back to the bus for the last half of the day, but will be back at the hotel in time for curfew.”

“Sure thing, can I have the last names of Dominic and Ashley.”

“Yo Dominic, what’s Ashley’s family name?”

Dominic looks at me almost stupidly, “It is, Ashley Merdos, is it not?”

“Okay old man, their names are Dominic Rousseau and Ashley Merdos.”

“Thanks, I’ll let the staff know, mind telling me what happened?”

“Dominic did something stupid after I did something stupid and now Claire and I have agreed to help both parties make things right after I screwed it up.”

“Sounds like a normal day, I’ll see you when you get back in the country, we need to start getting you ready for a couple of things.”

“Yeah, see ya round old man.” I hang up the phone and look towards Dominic, “So, that wraps that up.”

“Um… Are there even any arcades in Hawaii?” Dominic smiles wryly as he looks out a window.

“I don’t know, we’ll just look it up, for now though, I’m so fucking hungry.” I take another large bite as I think of Ashley’s last name. Merdos… why does that sound familiar?

I look out the window and see that Claire and Ashley were walking towards a rather fancy looking clothing store. I shake my head and pray that everything will go well from here on out.

But we all know it won’t.

“Hey, isn’t today the last day in Hawaii?” Dominic tilts his head.

“Oh yeah, we fly back tomorrow. I almost miss all the colder weather. It’s so damn hot here.”

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to announce the end of book 1 of The Worst Was Approved!?

It's been a rough journey the past little while, but we are getting back in to the swing of things. This chapter is largely unedited as my proofreader is out of town and I'm feeling lazy. If you seen anything, just let me know and I will fix it right up!

Today, September 1st 2016, is the day when Logan started at the new school. I wonder how many people were able to figure that out...

Oh well, book 2 has no official title and will continue on using chapter 41. It is more so just to separate the documents so they do not become too large. Well, book 1 has 91862 words and has reached 229 pages at 11 font size.

Also, we are almost at 500 followers despite my lack of releases lately. My goal is to release another chapter sooner rather than later. I don't really have as much free time as I'd like.
