Chapter 17: An unexpected development!?
I slowly open my eyes after waking up. My vision is slightly fuzzy so I rub my eyes.
Oh… I should get dressed.
I look to my right and see Logan still sleeping in the bed. He has a happy expression on his face while he is sleeping. I wonder what he is dreaming about. I hope it is pleasant.
I lean over and kiss him while being careful not to wake him up, he is a really heavy sleeper, but when he wakes up he wakes up quickly.
I really envy that. It takes me a while to be able to even see properly.
I slowly find my clothes that had been haphazardly thrown around the room last night. Logan got really into it. He deserves it though. I really am slowing this relationship down…
No. That’s the wrong way to think about it. I’m pacing us… so that we can get through school…
I would hate for Logan to be kicked out of the school because he was focusing all his time on me… but he doesn’t talk to me very much during school days anymore.
I wonder if he is seeing anyone else. Is he!?
Oh no! He could be seeing someone else! Who could it be!? Amy? Sarah!?
No. I’m worrying too much. Logan would never do that… Would he?
I should wake Logan up before my thoughts run too wild again… it’s almost time for school. I walk over to Logan’s side of the bed.
“Hey Logan. We have to get ready for school. We need to shower.”
He slowly opens his eyes and yawns.
“Ah. That was a good rest. Thanks for waking me up Claire.” Logan smiles widely as he looks at me. He seems to be in a really good mood.
“Ah… umm…”
He tilts his head slightly and puts on a confused expression. I know you want to ask me what I mean, but I don’t even know what I was going to say there!
“Umm… G-good morning Logan…” I always get so nervous when I talk to Logan… It makes me feel bad for him…
“Good morning Claire.” Logan takes advantage of the fact that our faces were so close and he kisses me.
I love him so much.
It’s the only thought that goes through my head as he kisses me. Why is that?
He is with me so often, but not always talking. He seems so happy all the time, yet never flaunts his accomplishments to anyone.
He seems to love me from the bottom of his heart.
I was very apprehensive at first with the forced marriage, but he treated me so nicely the entire time.
When he looks at me all I can see is happiness… and I don’t really understand why. From what I know so far about him, it seems his childhood was rough… very rough.

He never really tries to hide what he is thinking. Well… I think even if he did, he would fail miserably.
Logan is way too easy to trick though. At the wedding party, I easily convinced him that I had gotten drunk. It was embarrassing… but I wanted to know what kind of person he truly was, and what he would do to someone when they were incapacitated.
He passed with flying colours… and then some. The act nearly fell apart at the end… but I still somehow managed to fool him. After waking up in the morning I tried testing his response to various things… but I became too much of a nervous wreck.
His character is perfect in my mind. He isn’t too forwards, but nor is he too bashful that he won’t do anything. He is strong… despite what he says. He says he isn’t that attractive… I could argue that all day, but I will end it with how his eyes are a mesmerizing grey-ish colour.
Logan suddenly stands up breaking me out of my trance.
“I’m going to go have a shower. I’ll wait for you outside your room once you’re done… wait. I should probably put on clothes before leaving…” I blush as I see him. He quickly puts on clothes and runs out of the room, “See you in a bit Claire.” He rushes out and the door closes behind a smiling Logan.
I really have fallen head over heels for him, and there’s nothing I can do about it…
…
I was walking to school while holding Logan’s hand. He was smiling and laughing occasionally as others stared at him with eyes of pure hatred.
It seems that a grudge as small as taking away a school idol is not able to incite enough anger in the student body to even make Logan flinch.
Some of their stares scare me sometimes. They see him with only hatred… but they never act. Well… I may have threatened a few of them using my background… was that the wrong thing to do?
“Hey Claire, I almost forgot about it.” Logan takes his bag off his shoulder after letting go of my hand. He opens his bag and pulls out a box from his parents, “I was told to open this when we were alone together… but right now should do. Right?”
“Uh… Y-yeah.” I nod slowly looking at the box. I wonder what could be inside.
Logan opens the box and inside are various photos of a small boy. He quickly closes the box and hides it in his bag.
“Ah, it was nothing… ha, ha, what funny parents… ha…”
I look at him with a pleading expression. He knows I must have seen the photos.

“Please Logan…” I start to plead to him. I really want to see those photos!
“Ugh… fine… but, I want you to make me a promise first. You will show me photos of when you were younger too!”
“I promise!” I am excited. Such a small thing can’t compare. My father would have shown them to him sooner or later anyways.
Logan pulls out the box and hands it to me with an awkward expression.
“Please don’t show these to anyone else. These are embarrassing.”
I happily take the box and open it with a smile on my face.
The picture on the top was Logan when he was… working? He is sitting at a desk writing something before he was clearly baited to look towards the camera.
The next set is of him at the beach watching other children play. He is smiling in all of them, but he looks so distant. Why isn’t he playing with the other children? Who even took these photos?
The final set was a set of Logan running down the street smiling. He is smiling… but something seems off… why do all these photos seems off?
“Ah, thank goodness they chose the good ones.” Logan was looking at the photos over my shoulder, he couldn’t see that I was distressed by the contents of the photos.
“These are the good ones? Why do you look so… sad?” I offer him a question, but he looks off in the distance at nothing in particular.
“I am smiling in all those photos, how could anything seem off?”
“First of all, why is a child working so hard at a desk, and why can’t I see anything on the desk? Secondly, why aren’t you playing with the other children at the beach? Lastly, why are you running down the street in this photo, are you running from something?” I assault Logan with a lot of sudden questions.
I want to know the answer to all this… it seems off…
“Ah, you are overthinking things. We should hurry or we’ll be late!” He grabs my hand and starts to lightly jog, almost knocking me over.
He collected to box from my hands and quickly put it in his own bag.
Something is off… I’ve never seen Logan act like this… Why is he trying to hide his past from me?
…
“Hey Dominic, why would Logan hide pictures from his childhood from me?”
He frowns slightly and makes a weird expression. After sighing, he starts to talk.
“If he doesn’t talk about it, it isn’t my place to say. I assume you already know parts of his past based on the fact that you two spend a large amount of time alone, so he will probably have told you something by now. In fact, you probably know his parents could make a top ten list easily.”
I nod slowly. Dominic and I were walking to the student council room together as he has to pass by my class on the way to the student council room at lunch. I normally take longer to get out of class, but it was a self-study day.
“Yeah, I have heard a bit about his father, but not much about his mother… they came to the wedding and seemed like good people, and they came to the party for a few minutes to drop off a gift that ended up containing some photos of Logan.”
Dominic nods as he sighs.
“I see. I don’t want to say anything more about this. It’s not because I don’t want you to know about it, it is because it is not my right to tell you this.” Dominic reaches to pull his phone out of his pocket. “Sorry, I have to answer this. I swear he has a sixth sense.” He presses the talk button, “Hello. Oh… Yep… I wasn’t expecting it either you know. You should tell her soon you know. It is getting too late to hide it. She’s your wife.” Oh? Is he talking to Logan? “No I didn’t tell her anything. Okay… fine. Wait! No! Logan!? Are you there!? What’s going on!? Logan!” He hangs up his phone and starts to run, I follow after him unconsciously.
“What’s wrong?” I ask while running beside Dominic.
“Logan’s phone cut out! Let’s go to the student council room, he said he was there!”
“Let’s hurry!”
Dominic and I arrive at the student council room only thirty seconds after the call ended.
We open the doors and my face goes pale… Logan?
In the room was Sarah and Logan. Sarah was currently being pinned on the on the ground with Logan sitting on top of her. His face was red with anger.
“Say that again! I dare you to say it again, bitch!”
