Chapter 4: First Day of School!?
“Don’t stand so close to me, idiot!”
Ah, I thought she was going to be sweet to me all the time!
It seems she doesn’t want the school to view her too differently so she wants to keep up the ‘Mightier than thou’ type appearance. I don’t know if it will work too well, but let’s just wait and see.
I personally couldn’t care less. As I am the only one that knows the real Claire for now.
She is sweet and loving… but only when we are alone.
Good enough for me.
What else would I expect, it would be too perfect otherwise.
Claire and I were currently walking towards school from her father’s mansion. It was a thirty minute walk, but it’s good for the legs.
I asked the old man why I didn’t have to worry about school while Claire was getting ready.
“I just gave everyone else a holiday… oh, and you may not know it, but your wedding was televised. The entire school will know about it already. You should have a great day at school today.”
If I was drinking water at the time I would have done a spit take.
But, it is what he said, so I really shouldn’t mind it too much you know?
However, it feels weird to be wearing a ring. I can’t say that I hate the feeling of it being there, but it is different as I have never worn so much as a watch before.
“L-Logan…” Claire nervously says my name while we walk towards the school.
“What is it honey?” I calmly ask her back.
“Do you think father changed our classes?”
“I don’t think he would do that, it would affect our learning after all. I have to work hard just to get above a 60% on most of my tests.” I shake my head while talking.
She looks down, almost depressed.
“I didn’t really want to spend time with you anyways.”
Huh?
I’ll pretend that never happened and move on with my life.
“So Claire… what are we going to do from now on? You had that group following you all the time… were any of them really friends?”
“I don’t think so… most people flocked to me to either flirt with me or befriend me to get more power in their families…” She keeps her head down.
“Wouldn’t that depend on gender?” I slightly tilt my head.
“You’d be surprised then.”
I smile wryly and raise one eyebrow. After shaking my head I just smile normally.
“I don’t really know the world of the rich after all it seems.”
Claire laughs lightly and raises her head.
“You’re a really nice guy Logan.”
“Where’d that come from?” I almost step back for a second, but realize my hand is still holding hers.
“Well, you don’t really treat me any differently despite how I treated you at first.”
“Meh, I couldn’t care less about what happened to me before the wedding. I am a new man. I have a wife that is… hard to define, but seems to love me despite the situation. It almost feels as if we really were meant for each other you know.”

“I feel the same way… I-I l-love yo-“
“Good morning Claire!”
Really? Interrupting out moment together. I shall have you beheaded!
Sadly, I really can’t do that…
I lean to Claire and whisper in her ear.
“I love you too.”
She blushes as a girl walks over to us, she was clearly waiting here for Claire.
She was standing against the gate of the school. Unless someone was being dropped off, they wouldn’t be here, as the school has a whole section where students can live, so a ‘Chance meeting’ doesn’t just happen you know?
“Fancy meeting you here Claire and… ‘Trash’?”
“Don’t call my husband trash!” Claire snaps
Already defending me!?
What happened to the ‘mightier than thou’!?
“Claire he… he really… really is married to you?” The girl starts to crumble.
What’s with this reaction!? Why am I so confused!?
“Yes! Here is the ring that proves that I am married!”
Claire holds out her left hand and shows the girl the ring.
It wasn’t anything super fancy, it was a gold band with silver lines running along the outside of the ring. Of course, I had an identical one on my left hand.
I hold up my hand too.
“I was told the wedding was televised, how come someone who seems so close to Claire didn’t even watch it?”
The girl crumbles to her knees.
“I thought it was a dream! How could it be true!?” The girl stands up and runs off, “Don’t think this is over yet ‘Trash’! I will take Claire from you!!”
I look to Claire and she shakes her head.
I grab her hand again.
“I say we just ignore those people Honey… but do I have to worry about you being stolen from me?”
“No way!” Claire responds immediately
“What!? Just a couple days ago I was worse than an insect in your eyes. Even at the wedding you seemed to hate everything about my existence.”
All I say are facts but Claire fumble nervously with her uniform.
“A-at first I thought horribly of you and the maids had to calm me down the day the marriage was told to us. I was pretending to at least get along with you on the first day of practice. But after seeing how nervous you were, I started to like you a little. You never quit no matter how many times you failed, and you never lost hope.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say that is praise…” I scratch my head with a wry smile.
“Then something during the wedding in my mind just went, ‘This is love’… It makes me so embarrassed to talk about my feelings!”
I pat her head. She was slightly shorter than me so it worked out.
“Then to make it even I will talk about mine. I thought you were a horrible person at first, I was worried for my future while being with you… but, when I saw you walk down the aisle in your wedding dress, it felt like all the pieces fall together. I think that is the moment I realized I love you.”
“I love you too Logan.” She hugs me as she says that.

I lean to kiss her on the lips when the bell rings. The first bell is a warning bell to tell people to go to class.
“We need to hurry or we’ll be late!” Claire drags me with an odd amount of strength.
I can’t see her face right now, but I’m sure it is bright red…
Me? I can’t say I am much better…
As I look up at the school I see people in the windows glaring at me with killing intent… is it okay to scream?
…
“Everyone please take your seats! Class is about to begin!”
My first class teacher, Ms. Mason looked really happy to see me walk into the classroom. The first thing she did was congratulate me, but it felt overshadowed by the heavy statement afterwards.
“All my friends getting married before me is one thing… but a student… in my class. Getting married before me… isn’t it funny? It’s funny, right? RIGHT!?”
I nervously walked away after that, scared for my life… yet again.
“So, it is being announced in every class, but it involves a student in this class. We have had a student get married. The staff here would appreciate if you went to congratulate Logan Redwood on his marriage. He is married to Claire Northson, now known as Claire Redwood. We, the staff, thank you in advance.”
The entire class turns to stare at me with eyes of hatred.
So cruel! Why are all of you so cruel!?
One of the students suddenly starts clapping.
“Congratulations Logan. I hope you have a good relationship with Claire. I support you, and I hope all the other students will do the same.”
The other students’ expressions start to soften.
“I guess it was Ryan that tried to get Logan to disappear, if we are going get angry at someone, it can’t be Logan. He was just lucky enough to be chosen. I guess we can only blame Ryan.”
“Blame Ryan!”
“It’s Ryan’s fault!”
Ryan? Who’s Ryan?
I tilt my head and ask the random student that seems to have started a small cult following.
“Who’s Ryan?”
The student turns to me and gives me a weak smile.
“I can’t blame you for your massive amounts of luck, but Ryan is the guy that tripped you. He is the one that caused all of this madness. He had plotted it since you appeared at the bottom of the list for entry into the school.”
“What a thing. How did he even plan for me to be there when the group was walking by?”
“No one knows, but what is known, is that it was his plan. There was another announcement before the holidays for probably your marriage. It was that Ryan had tripped you on purpose. He has already been thoroughly bullied for setting you two up… so maybe we should… Nah. It’s Ryan’s fault!”
“Ryan’s fault!”
“Burn thou heathen, so I declare!”
“Ryan’s fault!”
I think someone snuck in something quite dangerous…
“So that’s how it is! Please tell everyone you know to congratulate Mr. Redwood!”
Yay!
I’m important!
…
I managed to survive until lunch…
Before lunch there are two classes. I had, ‘Advanced Math’, and ‘Advanced Chemistry’ in the mornings and then ‘Advanced English’, and finally the last class is ‘Advanced Biology’.
But for now, lunch.
Claire had messaged me on my phone, ‘Come to the cafeteria with me for lunch.’
She didn’t tell me where to meet her… but that doesn’t matter!
I will find her!
Or she will be waiting for me at the entrance to the cafeteria with various people around her…
“Hey Claire! Let’s go get some food!”
I jump in to the crowd and literally carry Claire out of it.
Of course it had to be a princess carry.
I made sure to grab at the right angle so that no perverts would see up her skirt. That did mean I was touching her butt… after looking at her face, she doesn’t seem to mind.
I set her down and she dusts herself off.
“Oh, did you really have to do that!? They were congratulating us on our marriage.”
“Yeah” I scratch my head, “I’m just not used to all the attention so I just panic and kind of do whatever the first thought that pops into my head is.”
She sighs as we wait in line for our lunch. Lunch is free, and we are able to choose one sandwich, one dessert and one drink.
I picked a ham sandwich, a chocolate pudding and a small carton of orange juice.
Claire picked the exact same as I did.
We sit down at an empty table… but it quickly fills up with people.
“So, how was your first night Logan!?”
A curveball straight from the get go!
“Um… nothing happened at all.”
“Unbelievable! As a man how could you not do anything!?”
“She was drunk! What else could I do!?”
“Take advantage of it!”
“I’d be a horrible human if I did that!”
In the end, Claire and I were allowed to eat our food in our next classes.
I really hope my school life isn’t just this all day every day!

Hello amazing readers! The comments I am getting are wonderful!
Some of you are questioning Claire's 180 behavioral change. Don't worry. The answer is hidden in this chapter, but it will go in to a lot more detail later on in the story, or if I decide to do a bonus chapter of the days I skipped when the two were rehearsing their wedding.
Either way, her behavioral change is something that was planned from the start. My proofreader said, "Why is she like that? If it's like that, won't she be a tsundere or yandere?"
First, I cringed at the yandere... cause real life is scarier than fictions... I can say I have first hand experience that I can attest to. (To be fair, the girl wasn't a 100% yandere, but she was close enough for it to be scary).
Then, I also denied the tsundere because it would set the story in a direction I don't really want it to go, full of black hole-type main characters. (I will include small things for humor, like i did in this chapter... eh whatever, you figure it out as the story goes on.)
These characters may appear in the future, but I can assure that they won't be Claire.
I think that is everything I wanted to say... meh, if I cant remember, it isn't important.
As usual. Have a great day/night!
