《Envy》Chapter 12: Esteemed Guest.

We've finally arrived at the destination. During our short walk I've managed to hold a conversation with Vilea and her brother, but unfortunately I wasn't able to learn anything useful, partially because of me being cautious and partially because I felt that everything would be explained to me in not so distant future.
The place to which I was brought had towerlike building, but this time it was at least twice as tall as previous one. Everything here was very similar to Gothic architecture. There was one exception, it had more of natural feel to it.
I wonder why they like towers so much.
“This will be your apartment, I’ll explain you everything you need to know after we enter.” Said Vilea.
“I will leave you to my sister then.” Said Erthor, before he vanished.
After we’ve entered the building I was greeted by a group of elven women, they were probably servants.
“Esteemed guest we humbly welcome you to the Exquisite House.” Elven women said in unison and bowed.
“Esteemed guest? How did they know we were coming? ” I asked Vilea.
“Before my brother brought me to you, I’ve already sent an information that there will be an important person visiting us.”
“But what if he really had brought a spy with him?” I asked.
“Hahaha.” She laughed and then explained “Every time he goes outside the city with his “squad” he always brings back some sort of a “spy”. I’m not saying he is a bad leader, it wouldn’t be exaggeration to say that he is one of the best. It’s just that he sees conspiracy everywhere. Besides one of his squad members has sent a bird with a report of what exactly has happened.”
“I see...” I said
She is not as simple as she seems to be.
“Anyway, we have to prepare you before your meeting with The Council.” She said.
“Ehhh!?” I exclaimed.
“Don’t you think that it would be a little inappropriate to visit them in these clothes.” She said while sweeping her gaze across me.

I knew I could change them with merely a thought, but I also knew that she must have already prepared some clothes for me.
“But that’s the only clothes I have with me.” I said.
“Don’t worry, everything has been already prepared, Now go take a bath, the servants will bring you a dress when you’re finished bathing.”
“Esteemed guest allow me to show you the way.” The servant girl popped up before me.
“Go I’ll wait for you here.” Said Vilea.
I was brought to the room that could easily be considered as a luxurious bathhouse according to modern world standards.
“Is Esteemed Guest discontent with our personal baths?” Asked servant, probably because she has noticed my expression.
Personal!?
“No, no. I was just taken aback...” I paused and then looked at the huge window with the panorama of whole elven city. ”By this beautiful view.” I added.
“I’ll be leaving then. Please ring the bell if you need anything.” She said and vanished before I could reply.
“What a strange country.” I said to myself.
I absorbed the clothes back to my body and entered the water. After all my clothes were made out of omni-bots which only imitated cloth.
Actually with my new body I did not even have to bathe, it didn’t produce any waste and I didn’t sweat at all. Nevertheless I still liked the feeling of submerging in the hot water.
As I entered the water I began to ponder how I should handle my current situation. Elves were certainly taking me for someone else. Escape was not an option, because of the ambiguous way I got here I don’t think it would be easy to leave it on my own.
I could tell them the truth, but I also didn’t know how would they react after hearing that I’m really a human.
Finally I decided that I won’t confirm their assumptions, but also won’t deny them. I’ll just act like I usually did when I was working undercover.

I didn’t stay in a water for a long time. I knew that Vilea was waiting for me and making her wait too long would be rude, so I exited the water and wrapped myself in a towel, before ringing a bell.
The servant arrived almost instantously.
“How may I serve you esteemed guest?” She asked.
“Vilea said something about clothes for me.” I replied.
“Understood.” The servant girl replied and clapped her hands.
Soon two additional servants came into the room. One of them was carrying a long green dress. You could say it was almost a wedding dress.
I hope I’m not getting married.
Dress was entirely made of silk or at least material that resembles silk. There were various golden ornaments resembling vines across the dress. But the thing that bothered me most was the huge empty area on a place where my chest would be.
Because of my profession I wasn’t used to this kind of clothes, I always prefered more practical clothes, but because I thought that I might offend some important people by refusing to dress “properly” I let the servants work their magic.
Unfortunately their “magic” wasn’t limited to helping me with dressing subjected me to other treatments. They’ve colored my nails with green polish, sprayed me with strange perfumes and combed my hair to the point of making my hair roots ache.
Fortunately after few minutes servants finally ceased their treatments. I must say that I thought that the dress would be really uncomfortable to wear, but to my surprise the dress was strangely comfortable.
“Ma’fael duri, oi lein na ti’moer fut na oer gien bleat.” One of the servants said with melodic voice.
Following her words surrounding mana has swirled and a mirror like surface appeared before me.I’ve never considered myself a beauty, but when I looked at my reflection I was really astonished by the view. Before me was standing a tall woman with smooth jadelike skin fiery red eyes and a long straight white hair.
Wow! Just Wow!
“We are happy that the esteemed guest is satisfied with results.” Said one of the servants.
Exactly at that moment Vilea had entered the room.
“I heard from servants tha… Oh my what a view. If I were a man I would totally fell in love with you.” She said.
She certainly does not act as you would expect of someone from royal bloodline. Maybe this world may have different standards.
“I presume you came here to take me to that council of yours.” I replied.
The servants expression twitched a bit after hearing me reefer to The Council as “that council of yours”.
Note to self, treat council with respect amongst the elves.
“Note added. Would you like to add reminder.” Said Hal.
No, I was jus… Never mind. Delete that note.
“Note Deleted.” Hal Replied.
“It is as you expected.” Said Vilea. “Please follow me” She then added.
This time instead of walking we travelled by a something called magic coach. It looked as a normal coach, but operated without horses. The drawback was that it could travel only on a predestined path and that it consumed a lot of energy, so the only ones who could afford it were elves with the highest position in society.
Also this time I’ve managed to get some information from Vilea. It turns out that elven society is ruled by oligarchy. The Council as they call it. Members of council are selected from the wisest and the eldest people in the country.
“We’ve finally arrived.” Said Vilea
As if hearing her words the coach begin to slow down until it finally came to stop.
So this is it? The final test of my acting abilities.
As I said earlier sorry for pause with updates. I’ll try to return to my usual at least one chapter every week.
Sorry for being late 40 minutes.
