《Artificial Biological Runic intelligence》Chapter 19

When they left the palace, Elora spoke. "Does Kaylen have seen the academy grounds?"
"Yes she had a little, but not all of it. She saw only the front door and a teacher. Why you ask?" Answered Alica.
"You know the labyrinth that it's on Academy's grounds right? We are going to get inside the facility from there. We try to keep the building's secret corridors, you know, secret."
"Okay, I get that, but what does it have to do with Kaylen and the question you asked?"
"Well, I asked because I don't remember how to travel the labyrinth. The maze's architecture is the same as the Academy's. From the front door to the headmaster's room. That's the way, but I don't remember it."
"And why you asked Kaylen and not me?"
"Because I know you never went to the headmaster's room."
"And how you know that I never visited the headmaster?"
"Because I'm the fucking headmaster and I have never seen you visit me!"
Alica stopped moving and looked at Elora with her mouth fully opened. She looked comical, full wide eyes and with an expression full of disbelieve. Kaylen moved her hand in front of Alica, but the latter never gave a response.
"What happened to her? She looked like she is dead." Said Kaylen, while she shook Alica to left and right.
"Let her be she will "come back to the living" in a couple of seconds."
"What do you mean? Is she dead?" Asked Kaylen, while anxiety started hitting her body.
" She is alive. She just thought I was only smart and she hadn't expected me to be as good with students as I am with research. The is even in one of my classes, but she had never shown up. And before you ask, my classes most have to do with theories and runes, and not so much with practice. So most people never come, or they never select the subjects that I teach."
"Aha, so she is going to be okay, that's good news."
Alica woke up from her stupor after the few seconds had passed, although she was still stunned by what she had heard. A few seconds later she spoke.
"So, you are not only the head researcher of the reacher facility, but you are also the headmaster of the academy."
"That's right Alica. I am both."
"Then why you never said anything to me whenever you came to the palace for a visit?"
"Ask your mother for this. I never had a say to all of this. Your mother told me to never speak about that to you ever, but I don't know why. So before you ask, the answer is I don't know."
"Okay, thanks for telling me at least that."
They stopped talking after that for the rest of the walking. The guards at the front of the gate let them pass because of Elora having the privilege of an actual headmaster, and the girls didn't have to saw their passes because of Elora.
"Now, we go at the basement of the Academy, and from there to the facility. But first, let me get the blueprints of the academy." Said Elora.
Alica and Kaylen were left standing at the front of the building, waiting for Elora to come back. A couple of minutes later, she was back with the schematics of the academy's building.
"So, we start from here." And she pointed at the first-floor entrance of the Academy on the schematic. "And we have to go all the way to my office." She then pointed to a room that was at the last schematic. There was one schematic for each of the five floors of the building and one more for the basement. "Let's go to the basement first, and the tell you more from there."

With a few minutes of walking and climbing downstairs, they were now in the basement. It was just a boxed floor with nothing in it, well not if you counted the coldness. That was the only thing the basement provided. But it was the best class that existed for those who wanted to learn how to use water and ice magic. "Now, we go at the end of the other side of the stairs. After that, I will feed mana to a hidden array, and some number will become visible on the wall. Then I will put the code for the door of the maze to open."
"But why are we doing all of this? Kaylen has taken the blood oath for never revealing things that should be secret." Said Alica. Elora furrowed her eyebrows, and the murmured something inaudible. She sighed and spoke. "Why you didn't tell me this from the start, we never had to do something like this. I could have teleported us from the palace to the research facility."
"Well, you never asked about that or even anything about Kaylen. The only thing you asked was about spells and if she has seen the Academy grounds. I didn't expect you wanted to know something else."
"Anyway, let's go to the facility by teleporting there. We will be there in just a second." A literary second later, Elora, Kaylen and Alica were at a different place. It was a small room with a carpet on the floor and an array on the roof. "The door will open in a few seconds. The array here works like a magnet. If a person or a thing attempts to teleport around the Academy, they will be forced teleport here. But it works only with great distance teleports. If on the other hand someone uses a flash or blink spells nothing will happen to them. That is because the barrier that protects the facility will stop them from coming in here, but for teleports, that's a whole another story." After Elora finished her monolog, the door of the room opened. An aged old male elf was looking at them behind the open door. He had snow white hair and a long beard.
"Elora, is that you?" He asked with shaking voice. He wasn't scared of them, but because of his old age that tends to happen. "Yes, grandmaster Marian. That's me with my friends." Answered Elora. "That's good to hear. I was expecting more of those nobles to come in here. But in the end, it was only you with your friends. Good, good. You are free to go inside now." "Thank you, grandmaster Marian for helping," Elora said and gave a bow. "I have told you to never bow to me, and I don't need a thank you. I just did my job." The grandmaster Marian started walking away from the room. Elora and the other run close to him and the all together walked deeper into the facility.
While they were walking Elora asked Marian. "So, grandmaster Marian what are you working on those days?" "I'm working on a spell to fix my voice, but as of now, I haven't made any breakthroughs. I have tried to use healing spells, but they don't seem to work at all." "But if healing doesn't work that means there is something else, maybe an illness." "I have tried that too, but nothing. I start to believe it's a curse. I even tried to use potions but nothing."

"Or it could be because of his old age." Said Kaylen. All looked at her because they hadn't expected her to speak at all. "Why are you saying that?" asked grandmaster Marian. "It's because it tends to happen to old people like you. It's a natural prosses for all being. Humanoids or not. Some people may have a higher pitched voice when they get older, and others may have a deeper voice. You happened to have an unusual one. It's because of old age."
"To get it straight, you tell me that I can't do something about it?" He asked. "No, not nothing. You can do something about it. You will have to speak less, and you will have to take deep breaths. As for if this will go away, the answer is a no. It will never go away. That's all I can do to help you for now. If I had some tools, I could be able to perform a vocal surgery and fix your problem."
"Why could we use such prehistoric means to fix something that could be fixable with spells? If you tell what the problem might be, I can come up with a spell to fix that." Said Elora. "And to rather try something that could potentially be dangerous, I would prefer him to be with that forever."
"I understand that. Well, it's maybe a malfunction of the muscles on the vocal cords. And possibly a nerve that makes the muscle twitch uncontrollably. That's all I can give you for now, because I don't have the tools to see deeper into the problem." Said Kaylen, she wanted to make a broader analysis on that, but she couldn't. And she wanted to help because he was Elora's friend. But he was hit with skepticism from Elora, and that was what she didn't like. Neither is this life nor on her previous one. She was the best medical artificial intelligence that had ever existed on the planet earth. And she took pride in that. She was the best doctor in every field. She could do even spinal surgeries, and connect the nerves back together. She was able to make people who couldn't walk because it was genetic or spinal be able to walk. She was also able to perform multiple surgeries at the same time with 100% success rate. She could even come up with new drugs and all those kinds of things to help her patients. But to hear that her ways were just primitive on her eyes, it truly made her mad. Not to the point of going berserk or anything but one of displeasure. And as to why she was 'killed' that she didn't know.
But Kaylen was able to keep her feeling in check, well not really, she just turned them off. But what made her confused was the way she thought about herself. She wasn't supposed to be like a human being on her previous life with felling and of those things, but now she was two things in one. A biological human Ai with feelings. She couldn't say that she prefers the one from the other. Both came with different pros and cons. On her first life, she has just a cold-blooded machine without feelings and anyways to keep a conversation going, however, the positive thing was getting things done. But now she had a better life. She had friends and new things to learn and do. But to her, the downside was that she had to eat and drink. To Kaylen, that was a big hassle to do every day. Although the food was sometimes good other wasn't so much, and as for the water, it wasn't something special to her. But she knew she had to drink it. Interestingly enough, she didn't have to go to the toilet like most other human beings.
Previous life memories unlocked.
The first runic secret was unlocked.
1st: Perk: Flawless memory obtained. Storage and RAM changed to cache.
The Gods' gift.
Perk: Divine body. You can regrow limbs, and there is no need to use the bathroom.
For the changes of the first perk, you will need to sleep for 10 seconds.
Kaylen read the screen and then dismiss it. She wanted to talk with Elora a little bit more. "Are you able to create those to spells to fix the damage on the nerves? Never mind that, do you know what nerves are?" She asked.
Elora looked confused from the things that Kaylen said. She didn't know what the nerves were. All she knew was that Kaylen knew what she was talking about and that she had hit a sore spot by saying that Kaylen's ways were prehistoric. "I'm sorry for telling you that your way was prehistoric. And please can you teach me what the nerves are?" She said with sincerity.
"It's understandable to see my ways as prehistoric, while you can use magic to such easiness. But most people aren't like you. Anyways, the nerves are a whitish fiber or bundle of fibers in the body that transmits impulses of sensation to the brain or spinal cord, and impulses from these to the muscles and organs. You can imagine them like your blood vessels, but there is no fluid moved around. They are the things that make possible to see, hear, fell and all that kind of staff. They even exist in your brain and spine. Have you ever seen someone with a broken spine?" Kaylen asked Elora.
"Yes, I have seen people with a broken spine. And most of them aren't able to walk again. Wait, you mean to tell me that those nerves you speak about are the problem?" Kaylen gave her a nod. "How can I fix them, tell me in more details, please! If what you say is true, that will make our army three times stronger from what it is now! I need to know!"
But before Kaylen could answer, the grandmaster Marian spoke. "But before she does that, we will have to first right down her explanation and the try to make a new spell and use it. Now let's move faster to the labs, even my old blood it's starts to flow faster!"
Kaylen left them to move farther ahead, and then she went to sleep for those 10 seconds that she needed it.
