《Artificial Biological Runic intelligence》Chapter 9

Kaylen took her time thinking about a new spell. It was night time when an idea came to her. She wanted to create a skill that could convert stamina to mana. Because of her high stamina regen, she never felt tired when she was doing something physical. After the whole thinking process, the creating part was the easiest. She only had a set of runes she had to put in place for her skill to work. When she finished with that, she went to sleep.
She woke up the next day and saw a blue screen confirming her new skill.
Spell Accelerated mana regeneration.
Use stamina to accelerate the mana regeneration. (The spell is inefficient.)
Mana consumption per second for the skill to be active is 1, and the stamina to mana conversion is 1.
You neither gain nor lose mana. (For level 0. At higher levels the spell will become more efficient.)
Kaylen hadn't expected to be this bad, but neither this good. It was bad because it was inefficient, but good because she could use more mana to make the skill level go up faster. She activated the skill with the max mana she could use, which was 3. In just 4 seconds the skill level up. Now the skill could create more mana, but it still had low efficiency. She went and ate the free meal and paid for extra days to stay. Then, she went to the farm fields to kill more rabbits and sell them to the butcher. Five days passed with nothing unusual. And she learned something new about the skills. They had a max level cap. Who did she learn that? Because her new spell had hit the max level which was 100. She could still gain exp for the skill for the next level, but two days now it was stuck at 50%, and it was going up pretty slowly. But she the good thing with her new skill was her mana capacity had gone up. Just by using the new spell she was getting more and more mana.
She had managed to gain 3 gold coins in those 5 days. Another interesting thing was her clothes. They could repair themselves, change colors and always be clean. She had learned that by getting many scratches on her stomach by the rabbits. As for the color, it was because she wanted to blend into the environment for easier kills. And for the last, because some blood had hit her all over her body, but her clothes had burned the blood and anything else that wasn't Kaylen's. Most of the times, she used the color black for her clothes. But always something good has a stop. She had found with her skills that people were following her, and were many of them.

She ran out of the city and to the forest with the earth dragons. The name of the forest, from what she had learned, was the bloody and deadly forest. Not many people had survived it, and those who did never went back. Four hours later, she was in front of the forest. She was able to see the people that were chasing her. There were at least 500 of them. They kept shouting while moving. Sometimes for her to stop, and others asking for her head.
She wasn't going to do any of what they asked. It was clear that they wanted her dead, and she wasn't going to let them have an easy kill. That was why she had chose to go to the forest. She ran into the forest. Her target was the peak of the mountain. Her detection skill could still pick the presence of the people following her and other monsters. But she had to stop because in front of her was a known presence that she never wanted to cross again. It was the adult earth dragon. But this time, he wasn't alone, she could feel two other dragons, the kid and probably the mother. The adult earth dragon looked at her. She moved in a circle while keeping the same distance from them. When she was on the other side, she did a little bow and ran for her life. She was lucky this time, the earth dragon remembered her, and that was why it had left her alone. Hell, she could have let her pet him if she wanted, but he wasn't going to say something like that to a human. But that couldn't be said for the human that could come next. It was a clear massacre. Blood was the only thing that was left the 500 soldiers that followed her. Kaylen didn't know that, and she kept running to the peak of the mountain.
A few hours had passed with her keep running, and now she was at the peak, looking at the forest. She could see the city on her left side and on her right a vast desert. She looked around the mountain peak and found a small cave entrance going downwards. She went inside because it was cold. The clothes didn't give any resistance to heat or cold. When she was inside, she found cells with many books on and in them and an orb floating in the air. A humanoid shape came out of it, he/she was wearing robes from head to toe.

"Welcome to my library of knowledge. This knowledge will now be yours because death had come to me. I had made this orb at the year 13053 of the elven calendar. Here, you can find how to create new spells, many martial arts skills, random knowledge and many more. This ring has many more advanced books from those that are displayed. But to bind with it, you should have more power than me. Now, please read all the books that are on display and when you are done. Take the ring and leave. If you travel by the desert, there will be a thousand km of traveling before you get to the first civilization. That was all."
With that, the orb lost its power and dropped to the ground with a loud noise. Kaylen was with her mouth open. The good days hadn't stopped just yet. She picked a random book from the cells. It had a thick layer of dust, but the book was in a good shape, without yellow pages or anything. The book she had picked was called Body enhancements. It was a relatively small book with 100 pages. But Kaylen didn't have time to think about this. People were following her. Or at least they used to, but now they were all dead. She waited for a few hours. Her skills didn't pick anything new, or anything for that matter.
She went back to the book she had picked and began reading it. It was written in a different language from what the people on the cities spoke, but Kaylen could read it anyways. When she finished the book, she tried to make a body spell like how the book had said. She only had to use the most basic runes that could empower her body by just giving mana to them. The book also said that she could use advance runes or glyphs if she wanted by she hadn't anything like that as of yet. The basic form of the skill was given by the book. She copied the spell and tried to simulate it. What she got back was not enough mana. But she wanted to learn the skill anyways.
Basic Body empowerment.
Empowers the body by 100% to every stat.
Cost 50 mana/sec. When leveled up, only mana cost goes down.
She activated the skill. Runes formed everywhere on her body, and disappear in an instant. She didn't have the mana.
A new spell was created by Spell Accelerated mana regeneration because of max level.
The spell can't be leveled up anymore.
Spell Efficient Accelerated mana regeneration was created.
Has double the performance with the same cost as the previous skill. (Both can be used at the same time.)
This was good for her, but not enough to use the new Body spell indefinitely. She wanted to read more books, but her stomach was making funny noises. It was time for her to eat. But what to eat? She could go back to the city, but the risk of more people following her stopped those thoughts. The next thing was to kill something in the forest, but she had the same problem like before, it was risky.
'Maybe a book that can teach me how to make food?' She searched the cells but found no related book with what she wanted. Only a book with how to create plants, who would want to create new plants? She read the whole book, and she created the basic spell. The name of the spell was Basic Plants Cultivation. She was now able to create whatever plat she wanted. But with her so low mana, it was probably impossible to create something useful for now. She used the spell to create a pant that was edible. She used her 2 spells for mana regeneration and made her new plant. It was a small purple tree that came out from the ground. It had a height of 20 centimeters, and small nuts at the braches. It looked like a berry bush.
She picked all the nuts from the tree and eat them. They had no flavor what so ever, but she felt her stomach full. Now with her stomach full, she read the next book, she did that over and over again. Two days passed before she finally finished every book that was on the cells.

However, there are a few moments that may be traumatizing to some people. As for the gore, it shows up fairly often but not extensively. I've always loved violence in movies and books, (The Boys, Banshee, Kingdom of heaven, Vikings, etc.) I am descriptive of the scenes with gore. So be warned :) I have multiple MC and as a nooby writer, I've had a harder time writing from a female POV. Just a heads up. Don't kill me if I make the woman in my book seem weird.
