《Artificial Biological Runic intelligence》Chapter 6

When Kaylen finished eating, she went to her bedroom. She didn't know what to do for the day except to train her skills and she did that for the most of the afternoon. Until 'One' had come back and asked her if she wanted something. She thought for a few seconds, and an idea came to her mind. "Some books could help me." 'One' gave her a small nod and left the room. Kaylen kept strengthening her skill Mantra of Colossal Stamina until it was night and she had to go to sleep. Her skill was now level 8. She had gained a level on the Enchanted Stamina regeneration later that night too. However, sleep came, and she had to stop for a quick sleep session. 'One' came at night, placed the books on the floor for Kaylen and left.
Sleep efficiency is now level 12.
Runic mind cores are now 72.
The next day, Kaylen woke up from a dreamless sleep, but she felt good. She only needed to sleep for four hours, and there was still dark outside. She looked at the books on the floor, but she could have to wait to read them. She could hear a small noise coming from downstairs that meant the shop was still open, and the demons were working. Kaylen stayed in her bedroom and used her skill Mantra of Colossal Stamina. Two hours basted before the first light came in.
The Mantra of Colossal Stamina is now level 10.
Passive: +100% total stamina.
Skill evolved from toggle → passive: +100% stamina regen.
Passive: Effects are always on.
Active: Effects have to be activated but at cost.
Toggle on/off Effects can be turned on or off. (Always with downsides or with some cost)
Kaylen read the blue screens and dismissed them. Everything was well and good, but if she didn't have to do something, there was no point in doing any of this. Good thing that 'One' had given her some books to read and now with the sun coming out, she could finally read them. There were five books, and the first book had the title monsters and weaknesses. She picked it up and read it. The book was thick with at least 500 pages, but always the left page had a picture of the monster and on the other the weaknesses and some other pieces of information.
Speed reading unlocked.
The good thing with her brain was that it could store data she wanted without forgetting them and still being able to work like a human brain. As of now, her runic mind worked like seven adult brains, but she wasn't having many thoughts just some basic stuff. Because she had skipped the infant stage of the brain, her thoughts process had developed very little if not at all. And now this was what was going on, her mind making ideas as to what she should do next. She had still a long way to go, but with time her brain would develop for the task.
A knock came from the door when she was at the half of the book. It was 'Fifty' with her food, she left the food and left. It was the same as the previous morning. She ate fast and went back to reading. The book was very enlightening, and her brain liked that. It had even the orc with the four arms and how someone had to kill it. A note from the book about the enlighted species was, for example, an orc could be an enlighted species and be a being made of pure mana and with a mana core. There was an easy way to distinguish who was who, and that was by how they reacted to a human or another being. For orcs it was like this, the pure mana one could attack you when he spotted you, while the other could challenge you first.

She finished reading the book and went to the next one. The second book had a title How to use mana. It was a small book and explained how to use mana. It was easy to understand. The third book had a title Known continents and human cities. The city Kaylen was on was the capital of the empire and where the emperor lived. The city's name was Reoburgh. Reoburgh was connected with three other human cities. To the jungle that was at the south of Reoburgh were wood-elves living to a small town deep inside. There was only one continent know as of now. The fourth book was named Spells and runes 101. That one was the thickest of them all, it had many theorized spells and runes. Something strange she found out about this book was that she could understand some of the runes and the meaning but not all of them. A filling on the back of her mind was saying that those runes she knew were just the basic alphabet per say. The more complex ones were a combination of more runes or a new rune altogether. As for the spells, there were two ways to cast them. You could use your mana to cast a spell instantly but with lower efficiency, or could cast a spell with runes and have greater efficiency. There were pros and cons to both ways, but if you could learn more complex runes, you could cast spells faster and have better, or worse efficiency. The fifth had a title How to train your body 101. That was the simplest of them all. It gave a way of training routing that had the best effect to the body.
After she finished every book, she looked outside, and it was night time again. Her stomach growling loudly, and she knew she had to eat. She went downstairs with the tray. The shop was lively as always. She went to the bar and asked 'Fifty' for more food. "You know? You haven't done a thing for a whole day. If you want more thing to eat work for it. We have some dishes to clean at the back. If you do that, I will think about giving you more food. For tomorrow and onwards because you will have nothing else to do. You will have to go hunting with 'One' and pull your weight like that. We lose money with you doing nothing but only eating. I know it was just a day but still, money is money. Now, move at the back and clean those dishes. I have more people to serve, and I'm going out of plates to serve." She then pushed Kaylen to the back fo the bar where a small kitchen, there were two demons with numbers ' forty-nine' and 'forty-eight' making food, and a pile of dishes to a corner. She went to the corner, and she saw the dishes, a soap, a sponge and a tap. She picked up the sponge and gave it a small squeeze. It was soft like how it was supposed to be. Then with the other hand, she picked up the soap and look at it for a second. The definition for the soap came to her mind. She then looked at the tap and did the same thing as the soap. She turned the tap and water flowed from it, the more she turned it the tap more water came out. She lowered the pressure and put her hand with the soap on the flowing water. It was cold, but it could do the job. She then picked up again the sponge and rubbing them together. She did that for a few seconds and she put down the soap and put the sponge on the flowing water. When it had some water in it, she removed it from the water and closed the tap completely. She then picked up a dirty dish from the mountain of dishes and cleaned it. Hours passed like that, her cleaning dishes over and over again. She even got the skill cleaning for her efforts, and now it was at level 3. It made the cleaning faster and easier. Like she had cleaned dishes for all her life.

"You are done for today!" Shouted 'Fifty' after the clock had hit midnight. Kaylen stopped what she was doing and left the kitchen. She was happy that she learned something new and she was going to get her food finally. A few minutes later and had a plate in front of her with the same food. She ate fast and went back to her room. 'Fifty' shook her head when she saw that, but said nothing.
Runic mind cores are now 86.
Perk: Runic mind synapses is now tier 4. (10,20,50,75 next tier at 100)
The next day, 'One' came early in the morning to get Kaylen to go hunting. "Why you didn't use the invisibility spell this time?" Asked Kaylen when they were in the jungle. "Well, because we didn't need it. We aren't in a mission. And I'm not in my demonic form, to have to use it. We try to keep our business as legal as possible no matter what we do in the shadows. Now, now. Focus on hunting any animal with meat on it. I will follow you, but I will do nothing to help expect if you are going to die, then I will make my presence clear. Good luck Kaylen." She said with a smile on her face and become invisible. Now, Kaylen was alone in the middle of the jungle, at least she remembered how to get away from there, so that was good news. Her skill wasn't picking any presence close by, expect the demon that kept following her. Now, she learned that her skill could detect invisible beings too. She passed the dungeon and went deeper. The first thing that her detection skill picked up was a big animal moving close to her. It was a wolf stalking her from a bush a little farther away from her. She looked at the bush and picked the dagger from her pants, and waited for the animal to attack. The wolf understood that it had been spotted and moved away from the bush and howled. The detection skill of her could only detect beings that were at max 40 meters away from her. More and more wolves came closer and closer to her. There were ten of them. She focused on the first wolf to learn the level that it had.
Grey wolf, level 5.
If it was one on one, she could have won, but ten on 1, that was going to be hard. The wolf came closer to her. She could see every single one of them. She started to think hard for her first time in her life, or else she was going to be the next mean for the wolves. She didn't want that to happen to her. She started to think and think, and at last, an idea came to her mind. Flamethrower, like how 'One' had done. A video played in her mind, it was 'One' using the flamethrower spell. The spells and runes books came to her mind with all the pages. All those things took less than a second to be processed by her brain. The alphabet runes came to her mind, the runes had a way to be put together to make a spell. With what she understanding, she created her first spell, but the simulation that played in her mind always failed. She tried to create different kinds of spells, but all simulations failed. She was missing something, but she had no time to think about it. A second idea came to mind. Climb a tree. She searched for the closest tree. She found one that was in the circle that the wolves had made, and climbed it. Good thing she had trained her Mantra of Colossal Stamina because when she was on the branches of the tree, she was panting.
But now, she had a safe space, and more time to think. The wolves were now around the tree looking at her. She examined what was wrong with the spell she made. Insufficient mana played in her mind every time the simulation ended. She then remembered, she could use mana without the runes to create a spell. She created simulations of herself casting the skill, but what she got was a flamethrower with the same power of 'One' with a duration that was even less than a second. That wasn't what she had expected. She couldn't use the spell as it was right now. She thought for a few seconds. A flamethrower with less distraction and lower heat output could make the change in mana cost. She created again the spell with the runes for the skill, but this time she gave specific values for the heat output of the flame, how far it could go and how big the spread should be. The simulations showed a continuous flame that was ejected from her hand that could travel horizontally as far as 3 meters and with a heat output of 200 degrees Celsius. But all was based on mana input, if she could somehow give double the mana on the runes, she could make the flame hotter and the distance farther.
Spell Flamethrower unlocked.
She pointed with her finger to a wolf and though for the skill to active. A jet of flames erupted from her finger and to the target. The wolf hadn't expected something like that, and its wool was now on fire. All the wolves became warier of her. She could see it on their eyes. Every wolf was now focused and always expecting the next attack. She used her skill again, but she though for it to get double the mana from her. She felt a pull, and a jet of fire with double the firepower exploded from her finger and hit another target, but the downside on this was she had no more mana for her use. Both targets died after a few seconds, one from the burns and the other from the blood loss. The wolves saw that the target was harder than they expected and turned tail.

'One' stopped the invisibility spell, took the wolves carcasses and gave Kaylen a thumbs up. She then went invisible again. Kaylen took the clue, and deeper into the forest. While she was walking her skilled picked up a being that was to her left coming closer. She looked at the direction of the being but what she saw was a black orb moving closer to her, her mind calculated that the thing could hit her in less than a seconds. The target of this orb was Kaylen's face, and the being could have succeeded if Kaylen didn't have the skill. She dodged the black orb, and when it collided with a tree, the tree color became all black and dissipated with the flow of the air. The being that shot the orb was a big rabbit, bigger than the wolves. It had four bigger sharp teeth, two pointing downwards and two pointing upwards, eight eyes and four front legs. It could be said it was cute, but the teeth and the eyes destroyed the image. The rabbit opened its mouth, and a black orb started to form again. Kaylen with a dagger in her hand ran in the direction of the rabbit while it was charging the orb. When the orb was big enough to eat the rabbit's head whole, it stopped charging it and let it fly at Kaylen. It was bigger and faster than before, but still slow. Kaylen dodged the orb, and now she was less than a meter to the rabbit.
Mutated Rabbit (black magic), level 10.
The power it had was level 10, but that was the power of the orb that made its level so high. In close combat, it was just plain garbage, and the only thing it could do was bite. Kaylen now was at the front of the rabbit. The rabbit started to charge another orb, but Kaylen didn't let it finish up the charge. She attacked her dagger at the nose of the rabbit. Blood came out from the deep cut with every pump the heart of the rabbits did. It stopped the orb charge up and tried to attack Kaylen, but the latter had expected that and backed off. The rabbit was enraged with Kaylen. It had lost with that simple exchange of attacks the most important part of its body that was after its ears and eyes. It didn't like that at all and hated Kaylen even more because of that, but the bite attacks never connected. The rabbit tried to bite Kaylen over and over again, but Kaylen didn't let it attack without her attacking it. After ten exchanges Kaylen saw that the rabbit's legs were trembling, not from fear but exhaustion. She knew that it was the time to attack hard, and she did. She dodged a bite again and moved to the right side of the rabbit. With the help of the dagger, she cut its abdomen. It was a cut that made some of its organs hit the ground and blood spill everywhere. That was the last exchange of attacks for the rabbit. It died a second after the wound.

And now she knew why she had no thoughts in numbers. 'One' again left the invisibility spell and took the carcass of the rabbit. The wolves had magically disappeared from her hands, and so did the rabbit. Kaylen didn't ask anything. "So, enough for today. Come, let's go back and have a drink. This was your first time doing something like this and, we should celebrate." 'One' said, while she moved away from Kaylen and to the city. When they were back to the shop, Kaylen moved to her bedroom and thought about things. She didn't stay with 'One', she just wanted some time alone to think. 'One' understood what was going on and left her alone for the time being.

Someone Like Adam
"You know, it won't physically hurt you to be nice for once." I crossed my arms in front of my chest and groaned. "I don't want to take a chance." the corner of his lips lifted a little as he finished his sentence. "Well, you don't hear me complaining. The view of a someone so desperately working out is not a delight either." I retorted in a weary voice. "I bet it isn't." he narrowed his eyes at me and commented. Ugh.. Why is he so damn annoying?
