《Artificial Biological Runic intelligence》Chapter 2

Kaylen spawned with a bright white flash in a forest full of trees, bushes, plants, and small animals. She could hear the birds and bugs chirping away their songs. As for Kaylen, she was on her butt and looking around. The next thing she tried to do was standing to her own two feet, after a few minutes of trying and error, she managed to balance herself on her feet. Next thing her list to do was to find where everything was, essentially the limbs and the max motion range. She first started with her fingers and toes. Next was the feet and hands. After that, all the other joins. In addition to all of that, she patted herself everywhere, to get data to where everything else was. When she finished with the self-patting, she looked around and saw that there was no street or anything that could lead her to a town, city or anything else. She wanted to find something to walk to because, although she was new to all of this, she understood that being alone in the forest wasn't the greatest idea. But she found nothing to move to, because of that, she started walking forward, and she had nothing better to do right now.
While she was moving, a small monster lizard was following her. It was curious as to what was that thing in front of it. It kept on stalking for more minutes to come, but when the human stopped and moved its head to look at it, it ran away scared. It hadn't expected the human to detect it, but when Kaylen did, it knew it had to run away. However, because of the lizard, Kaylen gained a new skill that could help her with detecting living being close to her.
Presence Detection unlocked.
A skill like this was hard to come by because of the complexity of it, but for her brain that was easy. Really, hard for humans at least, while some animals and monsters had it from birth.
Kaylen kept on moving until she was out of the forest. The good thing about the forest was that it was small in scale, and had harmless monsters. When she was out, she saw a small village, with a little less than 100 wooden buildings built close to each other. A small road made of gravel was connecting them with each other. Children were playing with each other while adults were plowing their farmlands, or watching the children play. Some of those adults even looked at her and made signals to other adults to look at her. Kaylen saw the people and moving to the closest one. All of the adults had stopped doing what they were doing and just looked at her moving closer to them.
When Kaylen was close to him, the young athletic tan-faced man stopped plowing his farm and spoke to her with a slow and calm tone. "Hello there, traveler. Have you gotten lost or something? To move to the city, you have to follow the road that goes out of our village. If you follow the road, you will be in the city in a couple of days by foot." Then the villager waited for Kaylen to speak, but said nothing. He moved back to his work, while Kaylen started to move closer to the village. An elder man signal for her to come to him. "So, traveler, what can we do for you?" He was the oldest of all the people here. His face was full of wrinkles with skinny limbs and ripped clothes. All, the villagers had ripped clothes. "I want to stay here. I'm new here. I can try and help with the thing you have to do every day." Kaylen said, with her melodic voice. The old man looked at her with one eyebrow higher than the other. "I don't know if a city girl can help with the farm and the likes of this. Yea, I can see you have some muscle of you, but it will not be enough. Have you trained any martial arts for stamina or something like that? Because if you haven't, it will be hard for you to help us."

Kaylen just moved her head indicating a now with the moment. The old man looked at her, and sigh. "I will let you stay at my house for a couple of days, and if you can help us, that could be the best. Even little help is help in the end. You will sleep on the floor. I will give you some blankets too. Now, time for you to get to work. Take the tools that are on the back of the house and help me with my garden. And as a reward, I will give you a martial art skill for better stamina." He then left his chair and, started walking at the back of his house. Kaylen followed him. On the other face of the house was a beautiful garden, with small trees that had fruits on them. "What you have to do for today, it's to gather every single red thing you see and put them in this box." Kaylen nodded and started to work. It wasn't hard for her to remove the red fruits and vegetables from their trees.
Farming unlocked.
Every time she gathered a fruit or a vegetable she got a number on the left side of her vision.

When she had finished gathering everything that was red. She went to the elder, that had his eyes closed, and told him she had finished. He opened his eyes and looked at the basket that he had told her to put everything that was red. "Good, take this now." He removed a small book from the pocket of his pants and gave it to her. "You can go ahead and read it. We will eat later when my wife comes back."
Kaylen took the small book. The title was Mantra of Colossal Stamina. She started to read the book. When she finished reading the ten pages of the book. She tried to use it. The booked said that she had to focus her blood on her muscles. And when she could do that, a cooling feeling should be felt on her muscles. With the use of the runic mind skill, that was easy. She focused all of her blood to her muscles, and she felt that cooling sensation that the book described. But she started to feel confused and light headed. That was because she focused ALL her blood to the muscles, and not some of it. The blood had stopped giving things to her brain, and that was why she felt like that. She stopped using the skill and read again how it worked. The book said to focus her blood on the muscles and not all of it. She facepalmed herself and started using the skill again. Something else the book said was, with more practice the user could get better stamina, there was no limit on how high your stamina could get.
The Mantra of Colossal Stamina unlocked.
When she unlocked the skill, she felt like she could use it instantly, and how the book said it should be used. The old man watched her practice his and shook his head. Although she had talent in learning, the speed of her cultivation for the skill was slow. Even the kids could use it faster and better. But what he didn't know was that she had an RPG system that could make the skill a godlike one and without limits.

+0.05% were ticking every second. 20 minutes later, a voice came from the inside the house. "Filmorg where are you?!" The woman said in a panicked voice. Filmorg was the old man that was watching Kaylen cultivate, and the voice was his wife, Mya. "Over here, at the garden!" Filmorg shouted at his wife. The woman came as fast as she could to the back of the house. She was old like Filmorg but with fewer wrinkles and white hair. She stopped when she was Kaylen and then started to speak. "I see, you already met her. We didn't have any visitor for a couple of years now. Only the imperial people that collected the taxes come here. And now that I see her up close, she isn't anything special. Hmff. Even my kids that are now in the city had better talent than her." Said May, with apathy on her voice. "Enough Mya, she came to stay for a day or two, and she said she is going to help us. For us, old people will be useful. And now make something for us to eat. I'm dying from hunger here." Filmorg said while he moved his hand and patted the stomach. "Yea, yea. I will if you people come inside." May said and went inside the house. Filmorg followed and then Kaylen.
"So child, from where did you come from?" Mya asked. She wanted to have a conversation with someone else because Filmorg always liked taking naps until the food was ready.
"From the forest."
"Well, I know that child. But what was the name of the city that you come from? By the way, my name is May and the old dog is Filmorg." She spoke while she was cutting this from the garden that Kaylen had gathered.
"Well, I don't know from what city I came from. All I know was that I was in a forest and nothing else."
"Hmmm. Teleportation magic, and a spell for amnesia maybe. Anyway, if you don't want to say it, there is no problem. Go and sit on the couch while I make the food."
Kaylen went to the couch and started to use the skill again. By the time that the food was ready, Kaylen had leveled up the skill once.
Mya told them to come and eat. The food was nothing special but good enough for a village. They ate some meat with the veggies from the garden. Kaylen copied how the old coupled used the utensils, and she started to eat too. When they finished eating, the old couple went to sleep, and as for Kaylen, she went outside.
The first thing she saw when she went out was some horses coming to the village using the road. There were people on them with armor and longswords on their backs. When they were at the entrance of the village, one of the soldiers with a golden armor shouted. "Everyone of the age of 16 to 30 has to come with us at the military. This is an imperial degree, and whoever does not follow it, will be executed on the spot." And then he signaled to his men to move inside. They searched every house for people that were of age. Well, they didn't found people of age to come with them but only Kaylen.
Kaylen was sure that something wasn't right, for her to be alone with them. She had seen kids playing left and right, and she was sure that they were more of age but she didn't say a thing. "Name?" Said the soldier with the golden armor.
"Kaylen."
"Age?"
"Unknown"
"Unkown? You look like 18. I will put 18 here. Now that everything is done, come with us. We had only one from this village, and that makes it easier for transport. Do you know how to ride a horse?"
"No."
"Then you will be with me. Come up. We don't have time to waste."
Kaylen did what the soldier asked. The saddle was big enough for two people. She put her right foot on the stirrup and used the soldier shoulder to climb on the horse. It was kind of comical on how she climbed on the horse, but no one said a thing.
With that, they started their journey to the city. She looked back and saw the villager looking at the departing soldiers. She even saw some of the kids from before looking from small holes at the soldiers.
"So, she knew but did say a thing. We did a wrong judgment for the kid in the end. 'Sigh'" Said the elder of the village to his woman. While the looked at the departing soldiers.
"You couldn't know if she was one of them or not in the first place. Don't bit yourself to it." His wife tried to reassure him. But herself felt bad about what the have done to her.

Suddenly, a succubus
The protagonist is a personality like an iceberg: introspective, asocial and completely uninterested in the world and its people beyond necessity. Approaching ships beware! A succubus, on the other hand, lives for desire and interaction, playing mortal hearts like a fiddle. These clearly mix like oil and water, so what do you get when you combine them? This is a story of that kind of emulsion. *** Completed with 62 chapters + epilogue (total of 111k words). *** This novel is bit of an experiment for me. I haven't written fiction before, for one. I also chose a character context that I normally wouldn't, and let the characters drive the story, especially in the beginning. Overall the main focus will be the main character's own story rather than the events of the world. The setting itself uses many familiar fantasy elements, though I plan to add my own twists. Note that I'm not really planning to write any steamy scenes, despite the said character context being literal demons of lust and all. There are of course jokes and scenes that skirt around the subject, but this is not a romance story of any kind. So, is it a mess? Probably. But I hope it's an entertaining one at that.

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
