《Ascension VR》Chapter 13: David VS Goliath?

AN: Short chapter, but I hope you guys enjoy the first long fight scene! Reviews and feedback will be greatly appreciated :)
Feng stabbed down on the monster’s head with all his force combined with the impact of his body mass landing neatly on the Comodon Lizard’s back. A simple feat considering its huge size and how he had managed that same move against the smaller Salamanders…
However, that was where the similarity ended as to his surprise, both of his daggers scraped off the elite monster’s head scales leaving behind thin lines as it barely broke through to its flesh despite the sneak attack and his improved strength…
The massive reptile instantly roused from its slumber and rose up, the sudden motion nearly dislodging Feng from his mounted position. Imbalanced by its movement as he lashed out with his daggers, only one of his daggers found its mark and deepened the line etched on the lizard’s head allowing some of the slathered on gunk to drip into the small wound.
The lizard reacted instantly and rolled onto its side, throwing Feng off and clipped his body causing him to fly off a few meters before landing on the soft dirt ground.
“Ooff…”
Feng was dazed by that glancing blow which easily knocked off a hundred plus health points. Quickly snapping out of it as his danger senses tingled, Feng’s eyes widened at the sight of the enraged giant lizard was charging directly at him with its claws outstretched…
Throwing himself to the side, Feng barely dodged the oncoming claws and hit the dirt ground, tucking his body in to roll away… only to be hit by the heavy tail lashing out at him and threw him across the cavern.
Feng stood up shakily as he felt pain course through his entire body from that one direct hit he received and checked his health status.
‘Shit. That last hit took away FOUR HUNDRED PLUS HP!’
“DODGE NOW!”
Hearing Leena’s sudden shout, Feng jumped to the side dodging the lizard’s onslaught, this time ensuring he landed on his feet and quickly leapt over the follow-up tail swipe.
Landing on the other side of the reptile, Feng slashes with his blades but only lightly scratches the even tougher scales on its body…
Ducking out of the range of its tail’s return swipe, Feng backed away as he quickly pulled out and downed a health potion while thinking furiously in his mind.
‘I’m doing way too little damage… Judging by its looks, I doubt I have even scratched five percent of its health. Damn it, wasn’t it just a level 60 monster? … I can’t afford to slowly whittle its health down considering the risk of taking a single blow is way too dangerous…’
The lizard having regained its balance after its chain of attacks soon lunged at him with its mouth open and snapping causing Feng to hurriedly leap aside.
‘… That’s it. I can use range attacks on it, even though I can’t throw my daggers…’

Feng continued jumping around and dodging the lizard, only this time scooping up clods of dirt and tossing at it, taunting it till it lunged again at Feng opening its jaws to bite at his leg… only to receive a vial of potion gunk right in its wide open mouth as Feng danced away from the straightforward attack.
The Comodon Lizard's jaws instinctively clamp down on the foreign object causing the vial to shatter in its mouth and it roared in pain. Its jaws stretching open to reveal the shards impaling its fleshy gums mixed with black sticky potion gunk and Feng quickly took advantage of the opportunity by tossing another vial.
This vial made it further INTO the monster’s throat and the giant lizard choked on it for a moment before its powerful neck muscles constricted… shattering the vial right inside its throat.
The huge reptile started to convulse and roll around in pain on the ground this time keeping its jaws firmly clamped shut but exposing its fleshy underbelly as it writhed in pain…
His eyes widened as an unexpected opportunity revealed itself, Feng darted in quickly and stabbed his knives deeply with a sense of relief as he felt the blades sink in before sharply twisting his blades and ripping them out sideways as he jumped back and away from the wildly slashing claws.
This deadly dance continued for several long minutes and Feng’s speed begun to dwindle as his stamina drew lower and he instead backed away, fearing that he would be easily killed by a single misstep and counter-attack by the lizard.
The lizard was by now bleeding from multiple stab wounds from its underside while the brief glimpses when it snapped its jaws at Feng revealed glass shards impaling its mouth and throat with the toxic gunk spread all around… While its movements have slowed in ferocity, its strength is clearly unaffected as its swipes dug large swathes in the ground as it missed Feng.
Moving out of its reach, Feng struggled to catch his breath as he was forced to continually dodge the lizard which caught up to him after a few brief moments not allowing him any space to recover… Feng was forced to resort to tossing his remaining potion gunk vials at the lizard’s wounded underbelly to slow it down and gain some space.
Knowing that this was unsustainable, Feng glanced at his inventory and the last potion gunk left… He can’t waste that throw to just slow down the lizard… but there really isn’t anything else he can throw… Wait.
Grabbing something from his inventory, Feng once again backed away and tossed several objects in rapid succession at the lizard snout
*Bonk*
The pieces of hard bread smacked against the lizard’s snout and glanced off, but the impact of the following pieces on the same location clearly jostled its head and it roared in pain as the glass shards worked their way deeper due to the impact… Only for the roar to be cut off by the last potion gunk vial tossed down its gullet.

Seeing that blunt impact appears to more effective on the lizard’s head, Feng ran in and shot his leg out to kick at its snout… and instantly kicked off with his other foot to jump up and stomped down with his full body weight down on its head.
Slamming the lizard’s head down on to the ground, Feng quickly jumped off, wary of its reprisal only to be surprised by its lack of motion after a second.
Realizing it was dazed by the blow to its head, Feng quickly repeated his assault as the lizard begun to react again. Only this time, he planted his feet in front of it, stored his knives and unleashed a flurry of fists on to the giant lizard’s head, slamming the large head into the ground through the continuous impacts.
While the gloves shielded his fist from directly scraping on the lizard’s hard scales, the continuous impact of hammering the hard scales and head of the lizard soon took its toll on Feng’s knuckles which was soon scraped raw after twenty seconds of pummeling the lizard… as he exploited the one second of the daze inflicted by the blunt trauma to launch not one strike but four consecutive punches… which then retriggers its daze status.
Panting as his stamina dwindled, Feng snapped off a last kick at the creature’s snout before backing away and quickly hiding back into the passageway hoping to get a quick breather before having to engage it again.
The battered lizard snapped out of its dazed status and moved its head around slowly, its tongue flickering as it scanned the chamber… and slowly trudged back towards its resting spot, seemingly severely injured by the last flurry of fists in addition to all the poison and bleeding wounds inflicted.
‘Damn. It is resting now, given its absurdly high toughness, its regeneration rate is higher than mine…’
Deciding that it was better not to risk it being able to heal fully from the damage he has already inflicted, Feng silently drank a health potion before he took up a meditation position for a full minute and quickly stabilized his breathing.
Unfolding from his lotus position, Feng crept back to a rocky outcrop near the Giant Comodon Lizard’s sleeping position and saw it resting with its underbelly exposed, probably due to the large amount of open wounds Feng had inflicted.
Feng grinned viciously at the opportunity and charged in with his knives this time stabbing them deeply into the underbelly and left them impaled before kicking hard at them, driving them even deeper before dancing out of the way of the lizard’s counter-swipe.
Lashing out with his foot at its head and stunning it again, Feng went in for the kill with his fists healed from the effects of the potion and rained punches onto the creature’s head…
Feeling his stamina drain again after nearly a full minute of chain punching, Feng decided to end the extended fight seeing the lizard weaken in its movements.
Stiffening his thumbs, he plunged them right into the giant reptile’s eyes and ruthlessly gouged them out with a loud popping sound as he twisted his hands displacing the orbs…
*CRITICAL HIT*
Diving away as the final attack snapped the elite monster out of its stunned status, Feng saw it rear up into the air almost balancing on its hind legs… before coming crashing down on his position… as he desperately attempted to roll away.
*THOOOOMFF*
A giant dust cloud was thrown up by the impact and slowly cleared to show the giant lizard’s body landed on the ground… and twitched once… twice… and finally laid still.
Thrown to the side, Feng slowly got up as he coughed from the dust that gotten into his nose and eyes and prepared to dodge any following attacks only to be met with silence.
Rubbing his eyes free of dust, Feng was greeted with the sight of the monster finally lying still.
“Aww, it died by falling on your knives? What an anti-climactic end… Cop-out… You should have fought it like a man!”
Panting from the exertion and feeling his body sag with exhaustion he previously ignored due to the large amounts of adrenaline running through his body, Feng simply flopped on to the ground and ignored his annoyingly chirpy spectator…
‘Tch. So much commentary from the peanut gallery, I’ll see how well you do when you get your own character…’

The Calculator - Supervillainess Time Loop
What makes a terrifying villain? Is it ruthlessness? Is it how powerful they are and how many buildings they can down in one blow? Is it how hard they are to kill, contain, or get rid of in any manner? Is it their knowledge of a hero’s true identity in a world where secrets must be kept? Or is it perhaps how they seem to be perfect in all their actions, defeating the hero at every step of the way throughout to the last one, only to humiliate them one last time before declaring themselves the winner in the grand scheme of things? Isabella Blair is perfect. She knows all your moves before you even make them. All your ambushes are faced with traps and she dodges all your blows like it’s child’s play. Catching her is impossible because she’s always ten steps ahead of you. She says she calculated everything, but she messes up in every fight. She loses far more than she wins, sometimes a hundred times for just one small victory. Yet, she is perfect. How is that possible, you may ask. That’s because she has the uncanny ability to return to the past whenever she makes a mistake. All that’s left in the end can only be what’s perfect if all the realities in which you’ve lost are gone, after all. And that makes for one hell of a terrifying profile. Crossposting on ScribbleHub, SpaceBattles, and Wattpad. Don't mind the "Pre-Rewrite" Volume. It is there for reference until the story catches up to the chapter count via the Rewrite (and to justify the current reviews as there would be no context to them otherwise).
