《Ley World-The Game》Chapter 33

A few hours passed, and he had finally saw something different about the island he was on. There seemed to be a large mountain in the center, easily a few kilometers tall. He also caught a small glimpse of the nearby continent, when he climbed up a tree to look around the horizon.

It was quite dark now, getting closer and closer to dusk. He was still just running along the shore, trying to fill up his map of the continent.

While running through, he saw something glimmer in the forest. Looking towards it, he saw a silver obelisk sitting in the center of a small clearing. It was levitating off of the floor, and as Jayson walked up to it, it began to release a low hum. HE put his hand to it, but quickly pulled back as he saw it light up.

From the bottom, neon lights began carving themselves into the obelisk. The humming slowly got louder and louder, before the floor beneath it slowly began to vibrate. The dirt shifted and dust began to rise as the entire clearing began getting covered in an eerie black mist.

As the neon lines continued spreading, the obelisk began to shake, small pieces of itself falling off. Finally, the lights connected back at the top, and a small black laser shot off into the air, before the floor beneath him crumbled, swallowing him into an endless pit of darkness.

POV Change: At the companies development HQ

"Sir. One of the players has already found the Zeltek civilization relics." - Dev 1

"What do you mean? They were only supposed to be found in another 2 years real time. Damn. We have to change the code. If the event occurs too soon the players won't be able to stop it. Who found it, and how?" - Head Dev

"His in-game name is Relfem, a Void-Elf. He was the special case the higher ups talked about." - Dev 1

"Damn. He's going to ruin the game if we don't change something. Okay, increase the artifact requirement to 3,500,000 during the next game patch. Also, create a global quest for finding the artifacts. Make it so that to get the quest you have to find at least 1 artifact and awaken it. Afterwards once the event starts, the person who finds the most artifacts will get a reward." - Head Dev

"But Sir, I don't understand, why is him finding 1 artifact out of millions this early so bad?" - Dev 1

"Because, the first one is the hardest to find. After that, they will start appearing all over the place, even in the middle of the most populated planets. The number found will increase exponentially. We may even have to continue increasing the number of artifacts required. Else the game will have to be recoded almost from scratch." - Head Dev

POV Change: Back to Jayson

Groaning, Jayson got up, taking a look around him. He was in a pitch black area, and couldn't actually see anything, other than the screen in front of him, telling him that he got a new skill Light-Fall, which reduced the damage taken from falling from great heights. The fall he just took already got it to level 11.

He continued looking around, and after a minute or two he remembered that he had a skill he could use for this. , teh skill he got from Seer magic, which allowed him to see everything within 2 meters of himself.

Quickly turning it on, he felt his sight come back. It wasn't really like sight, but instead he could almost sense everything around him. For now, all he saw was himself standing on a gravel-like substance. He quickly began walking around, trying to find the edge of the room.

As he walked, his map also began filling in, so once he walked the entire are of the space he was in, he would be able to see where he was on the map. By the time he had found the walls of the room, had gotten to level 3, letting him see everything within 3 meters. Each level seemed to increase the distance by 0.5 meters, so in the future this skill would be very useful. He would even be able to use it while traveling faster than light, as he could still sense everything around him.

The room was 20x20 meters, and had a large door near one of the corners. The door was slightly crooked, tilted to the left a few degrees. Either way, it was the only opening or exit Jayson could see for now, so he decided to go through it.
