《How I Accidentally Started A Harem In Another World》Chapter 10

I am Alfred Lucera, and I hold the title of Duke in the Kingdom of Rymeth. One day I received a letter threatening me. The letter stated they had kidnapped my daughter, and if I wanted to see her again, I needed to oppose the idea of an alliance with the Beast Kingdom Ostia.
I instantly knew that this was from a noble from an opposing faction—a noble who is so twisted that they would take my beloved daughter hostage for their own gains.
I was enraged, so I immediately gathered all the trusted knights in my service and left the capital to find my daughter.
About three hours away, we found bodies after bodies of guards that were supposed to guard Lilliana. We found that most of the bodies were looted. Which meant that the noble behind this had hired a group of bandits, making it harder to trace back to them.
Suddenly we heard a massive roar and lots of heavy footsteps. The roar belonged to an Orc, and the heavy footstep was the Orcs surrounding us. Leading them was an Orc that was abnormally larger than the ones around it.
Looking around, we were surrounded by Orcs. So our only chance was to attack at one point to break through the encirclement. However, that plan didn't succeed. An Orc alone was a D-Rank monster. However, they tend to work in groups which can put them up several ranks depending on the size of the group. In some cases, a high ranking Orc such as an Orc General or Orc Mage would be leading, and in the worst-case scenario, an Orc Royal could be born. In the case of an Orc Royal, they could be leading an army with over 10,000 Orcs.
Even though this time it was an Orc General, it was still a big threat.

"Sir, we can't hold them off. We will try and make a gap for you to escape."
"Nonsense, I will not abandon my men. We will break through this together.
"SIR! Six knights have already fallen, and the Orc General is heading over to us."
"Tell them to stand their ground. I'll handle the Orc general."
"My lord, I do not mean to insult you, but an Orc general is a C-Rank monster."
"Well, do you have any better suggestions?"
"Umm..."
"I thought so, now let's go. When we get out of here, I'm opening my wine vault."
"""Yes, My Lord!!!"""
The knight's motivation was high especially hearing that I would be inviting them to drink from my wine vault, which had a significant collection of top-grade wine. But even then, it wouldn't help much. There was still the problem of the Orc general, which would typically require at least 30 knights that have abilities around D-Rank. Only two or three knights in this group were D-Rank.
I watched as the Orc that was 3 metres tall, armed with a giant greatsword and full metal armour, approaching me.
"You must be the one leading the Orc's," I said.
Usually, regular Orcs possess no intelligence, but unique Orcs like this Orc general would have enough intelligence to communicate. However, there was no reply, except it swung its greatsword down on me with immense power.
I couldn't move out of the way in time, so I held up my sword to block its attack. However, its power was extreme in that it shattered the blade in half, and it sliced into my shoulders.
"Gahhhhhh!!" I screamed in pain.
I felt pain coursing through my body that was intense that I nearly fainted. But it couldn't be compared to the searing pain of regrets that I had in my heart. I couldn't save my only daughter, and my wife would be left all on her own. How can a world be this cruel?

I closed my eyes in my final moments and waited for death to take me. But it never came.
"Hey, are you still alive? Oh, thank god you are here. Drink this."
I opened my eyes to see a young man with black hair. The Orc general was behind him with a spear pierced through its heart.
"W-who...are.....you?"
"Umm, Just a passerby lending a hand. But drink this. It's an [Elixer], should patch you right up. Wait, I can just pour this onto him. That's so much easier."
I couldn't hear what he had said, but the last thing I saw was the face of my daughter, and then my vision went dark.

Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author. "'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately.Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me. 'That was awkward.'"~~~Junior year is starting off chaotic for Mackenzie Brooks as she steps into her role as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. She's smart, focused on school, the paper, and her TA responsibilities. Junior year should be starting off easy for Dane Sawyer. He's the star pitcher of the baseball team; attractive, athletic, desirable, with a hot girlfriend. Unfortunately, he's also failing computer science which is the one thing he sees that is in the way of his pro career. Different in more ways that one, when the two run into each other in the library, it's an immediate disaster. But when Dane convinces Mackenzie to be his tutor, both of their lives begin to change.

Something has been amiss in the city’s theaters as of late. The local bards have long done a respectable job of keeping the audiences entertained, weaving high concepts with skillful performances. But lately, a new set of bards, and their illusionist cohorts, have captured the crowd’s attention. Compared to the theater’s usual fare, their work is hackneyed and poorly plotted, with unskilled acting, bad special effects, and unsatisfying resolutions. Worst of all, the audiences like their work more, and these upstarts are far more profitable than the city’s decent bards! Clearly, there must be some dark secret behind the success of these newcomers, and it’s up to the city’s true artists to find out what it is and expose the conspiracy! Or maybe the city’s bards have just become too hopelessly pretentious and derivative. It’s hard to tell. But investigate it they must! Failure is not an option! Victory, or...well, they’ll have to get day jobs or something. Original cover image generated by NightCafé.Master story list here.

It was in a dream that I heard her voice. She, a goddess, had offered me a place to be her champion and heal my pain, but I declined. Even with that someone else decided to take me away regardless of my choice. It was not long before I realized I was not the only one taken. Eleven of us were forced into this world in order to fight monsters. My girlfriend and her best friend were taken as well. I had little interest in fighting for a nation that would kidnap people from another world. So by the grace of god, I was given access to the Grimoire Magic System in which a game-like system was offered to me. It even included an in-game shop. With this we will find a way back to Earth.
