“Now you may ask, where do these ‘Break Genes’ come from. No one knows exactly, but the most popular theory is called the ‘Dao Mark Gene Theory.’ This theory explains that these ‘Break Gene’s’ aren’t exactly genes, but small pieces of the grand dao that accumulated in humans after millions of years of evolution. What is the dao? The dao is everything, how the water moves, and how the flames burn. The ‘Dao Mark Gene Theory’ debates that genes are merely small pieces of the dao that give humans access to their abilities. Higher class genes have more control over the dao, and hence grant their user more power.”

“For example, let us talk about a very popular gene, the stone skin gene. This gene is made up of stone dao marks and skin dao marks, hence combining into the stone skin gene. This theory also explains why some people have more talent and can awaken genes easier than others, it is due to the fact that their body has more of these dao marks than other people. Gene creation is the science of taking material’s with dao marks inside them, and using them as ingredients to form ‘Break Genes.’”

Cain was standing still and nearly forgot why he had even come here. He was so fascinated by the lecture that it took him a minute to even realize it was already over. He shook his head and walked into the lab, disciples were performing experiments and reading books and the lecturer was currently answering the disciples. Cain currently had to many questions he wanted answered so he waited in line until the disciples in front of him were done talking to the professor.

“Hello young man, I’ve never seen you in the lab before. You must be new”

“Yes sir. I only joined the sect today, however I stumbled across your lecture and I feel like my eyes have been opened. I still have a lot of questions however’

“Go ahead young man, I’m here to answer your inquiries”

“Why is it that despite the almost endless amount of ‘Break Genes,’ a lot of people end up awakening the same or similar abilities?”

“The answer to this question is simple. It is because how humans are made, you may have noticed that genetic abilities related to elements are the most common and that is because of the chemical makeup of the human body. We are made up of mainly the 5 elements which are earth, fire, wood, metal, and water. Naturally because of this a lot of the ‘Break Genes’ in the human body are related to these elements”

“Why is it that despite the massive amounts of ‘Break Genes’ in our body, actually awakening a gene is hard process?”

“Well I could explain this to you like this. Despite the endless amount of coal on a planet, diamonds are rare? Its because one needs to apply a huge amount of pressure to coal before it can finally become a diamond. Regular ‘Break Genes’ can be compared to coal in that sense, most of them are useless, and only an extremely small amount of them can be put to use by humans.”

“No problem young man. You still haven’t told me your name however”

“I’m disciple Cain”

“Hmm, Cain you have a thirst for knowledge which all Genetic Researchers need. This thirst is more important than talent because it's what will help you push forward. You should come to my lecture tomorrow, I shall explain how ‘Break Genes’ also helped advance technology.”

“I’ll definitely come professor.”

Cain split off from the professor and applied to join the lab, the process was quite easy, he just had to fill a form and complete a small test. Afterwards he was allowed access to the labs resources and books, naturally this wasn’t free and had to be paid for with contribution points. Cain went to public areas and read some of the books on Genetic Research. The information here was truly endless, and seemed to cover all perspectives. This was only the public part of the library and yet the information stored here would be considered high class back on earth.

As disciples of the Divine Perception Sect, they were rather unrestrained. They only had to complete a mission once a month. After coming back from the public library, he was reminded of that supreme gene stimulating elixir. He had also realized why it was so powerful, it was because it was a grade 2 elixir, normally meant to be used on grade 2 genes, using it on grade 1 genes was overkill. He downed the elixir and instantly noticed it’s effect was far weaker than it had been in the past, he was still satisfied though, since this was enough momentum to break through at least 1 level.

Cain called it a night after seeing his new stats, he had a lot to do after today. The sect was filled with plenty of opportunities to increase his strength and knowledge, and he planned to use them all.
