《The Greatest Gene》College Exam

As he dove towards the star, it seemed to open up to him. He was suddenly embraced in an endless amount of heat and power. Cain suddenly opened his eyes and realized he was back in the real world, as he was looking around his room he realized his vision was far sharper than before, he also felt a power pulsing through him that felt endless, it was like a dehydrated man jumping into a pool of fresh water.
He quickly used his inner vision to see if his stats had gone through any changes.
Strength: 2.5
Speed: 2.8
Defense: 2.5
Genes: Inner Vision : Level - 1, Slow : Level - 1
Cain was shocked when he saw his stats, they had increased tremendously, he now had hope for the future, the only thing he was confused about was his gene. A lot of the common genes were talked about in school so he had knowledge of those, his gene however had never been brought up, making him think it may be a bit special.
Fortunately the inner vision gene could also give a basic description of other genes.
Slow: allows one to slow down time.
Power - 4
Potential - 10
Cain felt his blood boil when he read over the genes description, it was clearly an extremely powerful gene, and its potential was 10 which was quite good. The way people categorized a genes potential was based on two factors, max level and power. Power was the strength it would have at each level and potential was the peak level it could reach. For example a gene with 3 power and 5 potential would mean that every level increase would raise your power by an average of 3 points. At max level you’d gain a total of 15 points.

Higher level genes have greater potential and power, that's why Genetic Warriors always strive to fuse their genes in order to create a higher leveled gene. Genes were then divided into ratings, which was the potential plus power, most average gene such as the fire breathing gene had a 6 rating.
Cain suddenly felt like his future that was once grim had opened up, he could finally go to bed after lifting that heavy weight of his shoulder, and this was the greatest sleep he ever had. The next morning as his alarm went off, Cain headed towards the sonic trains and boarded. Trains in this era could travel at hundreds of miles easily, Cain was already at school in a few minutes.
He entered his classroom and looked around, some people were gloomy with their heads hung low, and others had their chins up high filled with pride and arrogance. The stronger students all had small cliques of people bootlicking them, hoping that once these students achieved success in the future, they’ll be able to reap some benefits.
Despite Cain being a weakling in the past, he had pride deep in his bones, and he refused to lower his head towards these stronger students. Now he was strong and had even less reason to put these strong students in his eyes, all he wanted to do was gain power and head towards the stars.
“Alright students, today’s the graduation exam, those who pass will be able to head to Genetic Warrior College, and become the pillars of the future, and those who fail will have to take up a career somewhere else. Those who fail shouldn’t feel down, the world needs power but it also needs regular people to function, everyone person is an important part of a working society”

Despite the fact the teacher said this, everyone knew it was nonsense, if what he said was true then everyone civilian would have a mansion to call their own. The first part of the test was a written exam, if one did well enough on this then they could go to a regular college and get a respectable career even if they don't have the talent to be a Genetic Warrior. Cain was smart and could pass this easily, but unfortunately, college is expensive, and passing alone isn’t enough.
The written Exam was quickly over and the class quickly headed towards the testing arena, it was comprised of a track field to test speed, a strength monitor to test strength, and a gravity chamber to test defense. Ledger was currently the strongest student of this grade, and was the first to perform, he had awoken the stone skin gene, a rather good gene, and he had the potential to be a Genetic Warrior.
Ledger quickly passed the tests with flying colors, he did especially well on the gravity chamber since his gene was centered around defense, the teacher was looking at him with a beaming smile. Ledger held his head up high, he didn't seem to put the world into his eyes.
After Ledger, the performances were rather lackluster, few people had genes, and none of them were as good as the stone skin gene, hence Ledger maintained his first place spot with ease. Eventually it was Cain's turn, however no one even bothered to look at him, he was a well known underachiever, other then his grades being good he was mediocre. Cain started with the speed test, the second the beep went off he flew down the track.
“100 meters in 6.5 seconds”
People were shocked when the computer announced Cain’s results. An average man runs the 100 meter in about 15 seconds, so Cain was more than twice as fast as the average man, their shock didn’t end there however.
