《5 Dragon Emperor》Chapter Sixty-Four

Beware: Spoiler~ That isn't a spoiler, but a question/rant.....
Spoiler : [Me ranting etc.] Ok, now that this is finished and I made it before the new year. Let me ask, what makes a story classified as 'tragic'? Is it when people die? When someone gets raped? A whole clan is exterminated? Thinking about it, I think these are very tragic, but no one said anything until everyone starts 'assuming' something is going to happen. Let's say, XXX has a wife but she dies, is that 'tragic'? Is it still considered 'tragic' when XXX revives her in chapter XXXX? I don't think so.
Enjoy! (Happy New Year!)
Will go back and post Pr chapters once NasVersix finishes this chapter.
Soaring Dragon Continent
The tournament was starting to continue and the cheering was loud. You could even hear the noise they were making from outside the building. The number of spectators seemed to increase as a new day begun. Along the walls were armored men in black clothing who stood like statues.
The number of matches today would be twice the number it was last time. As there are winners, there will also be losers. Those who won two matches are already considered upper tier genius, but those who win three or four will be considered top tier. As for anyone who wins more than that, they will be a genius among genius’.
The Sky Serpent school didn’t have many disciple participating in the third matches, so most of them were in the stands watching with the elders. Those that were participating were on the ground floor waiting for everything to get started. Only, it seemed to be taking forever. The people who were overseeing the matches weren’t present which caused everyone to feel anxious.
There was this certain atmosphere that just made everyone feel nervous. It was as if something bad was going to happen. It’s the feeling you get when you know someone close by is going to die, or when your fate is near. However this atmosphere didn’t hinder the chatting in the stands.
Boom!!
Two doors bust wide open from the top of the stands causing a loud noise to be heard. Instantly the crowd shut their mouths and snapped their heads in the direction the noise came from. Out came Chang Chi dressed in black, with his eyes bloodshot red. In his hand was a black sword that looked like it could blend in with the night. By his side were men dressed in black, each one releasing killing intent that caused some of the people in the stands to fall into fear. His daughter came out dressed in a black dress that clung to her tightly, but her head was hung low.
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know, but the atmosphere just turned cold. The way the emperor is looking… it seems someone has ticked him off.”
“I… feel sorry for whoever that is. There is no way they are escaping alive.”
“That’s what they get for pissing him off! He’s the emperor, you think you can spit in his presence and get away with it? Naturally he must show everyone his strength to prove to everyone that they shouldn’t mess with him.”
Two men were conversing with each other while glancing back at Chang Chi who was looking down on them all. His spot in the stands was much higher than the others, so he could overlook everything that was happening.
“The tournament is postponed!” Chang Chi yelled out.
“What! Why!?” The crowd felt wronged. Some of them traveled for months for this, and now it’s being postponed! They need an explanation!

Chang Chi looked over the crowd. “My wife is dead!”
“Wha!? Lady Jiaying is dead? How can this be, she was at the peak of the Paragon realm. What vile bastard did such a thing!” The crowd roared.
Almost all of the spectators thought of Jiaying as the one being dead instead of Chang Chi’s first wife. His first wife didn’t have the same presence as Jun Jiaying did, because she was weaker and not as beautiful. Sure, she was still one of a kind, but that is not the same as being on Jun Jiaying’s level. If such a person died, they could understand why Chang Chi came out the way he did.
For a murder such as this to happen when all of these schools gather, it could only mean one thing. Someone here is the murderer!
Chang Chi’s bloodshot eyes glared in a certain direction. It was the same direction that the Sky Serpent school was located. The spectators also turned their attention to the Sky Serpent school hoping to find out what was going to happen.
“In my time, I have made many friends but also I have many enemies. Those who want to harm me can’t, so they go after the ones close to me. I try my best to keep my family safe and hide them away from the view of others. I, Chang Chi, may have two wives, but I love them both dearly. I, Chang Chi, only have one child, one daughter who is my entire world. I will go to earth's end, just to kill the person who caused a single tear to appear on one of their breathtaking faces!” Chang Chi yelled loud letting the whole crowd hear every word he spoke. His eyes never turned away from the Sky Serpent school though, they seemed to be glued on them. “Last night, everyone was in a good mood and having a merry time. However, do you know what I, Chang Chi woke up to this morning? Death! I woke up to the news that my first wife, Le Lin, has died! Do you know how it feels to have someone you care about be taken away from you without your own knowledge? Do you know how it feels to have to look at your daughter while she mourns her mother's death!? I, Chang Chi may like a lot of women, I may even fool around from time to time, but I have only ever had three women in my heart. Two of them are standing here today, but the other one! The other one is dead!” His voice was echoing in the ears of the spectators causing their blood to boil. What man doesn’t love his own wife, even if he does fool around? What kind of man doesn't want to avenge those who he has lost? If the killer is still here, then they better pray they are not found. “There was once a time where the who Gan clan fought against me even when they could win. Why? Because they didn’t want me, the brother of Chang Mu as the emperor! Why not? Was it because they did something to my brother, were they the ones who hired that assassin to kill him!? I find it hard to believe that an assassin would go after the emperor just for fun and games! It had to be someone, but they needed to be close to the emperor just enough so they wouldn’t be expected. I placed a few spies in the Gan clan, and you know what turned up? Plans, blueprints, conversations that have been going on for years. They held what I knew was a plan to get rid of Chang Mu. When I came out and became an Immortal, I knew that I had to avenge my brother. The Gan clan could no longer live, they had to die! However, what I didn’t expect was for one of them to escape.”

Chang Chi’s voice was filled with rage, but he took his attention away from the Sky Serpent school and looked down on the arena's below. “Yesterday I found the one who escaped, but since he was so weak I let him live. That was a fatal mistake! I should have plucked all of the teeth before it had another chance to grow new ones. Now, let me tell you, the Gan clan has one member left. He is here today, laughing in my face at how ridiculous I must look up here. He is the one who will continue biting me in my neck if I don’t get rid of him. You think you can come here and murder one of my loved ones and get away with it? You think I, Chang Chi will let you to live!? Gan Fang! I Will Murder you!!” Chang Chi’s eyes locked onto a short haired young man who was looking up at Chang Chi. He didn’t say anything, nor did he look as scared as he should have been.
“Chang Chi, I have to say, you expect everyone to believe you? You say I killed your wife, but how could I? I, Gan Fang has never killed the innocent. You may have murdered my clan who you blame for killing the emperor, but I wouldn’t be as low as you! For me to kill the empress would require me to be close to her, but how could I? Are you telling me that me and her had a thing going on? Is that what you are saying? If not, please enlighten me on how I would get close to her for me to kill her?” Gan Fang yelled back to Chang Chi.
The crowd was astonished that Gan Fang had the balls to talk back to Chang Chi. He wasn’t nothing compared to Chang Chi, but he actually dared to talk back to him! However the crowd didn’t say anything but stared back at Chang Chi. Gan Fang’s words made sense, how could he murder the empress? For him to murder her would require him to be extremely close to her, which they doubted he was. For such a young man to court the empress who has a husband at the principle of strength. Ridiculous!
Chang Chi coldly snorted. “You think you can fool me!? Ask yourself, why. I do not know how you got to her, nor do I know why. However I have many witness’ placing you in the same room as her. When they checked the room, she was dead! They have seen you coming out of the same room her body was found with blood all over you! Care to explain!?”
The crowd was shocked. If Chang Chi had witness’, then that changed the whole story up. No matter how Gan Fang tried to deny him getting with the empress, if there were people who noticed him coming out bloody with her being dead inside, that could only mean that he was the killer.
“Chang Chi, stop spouting nonsense!” Qiu Zhen snapped at Chang Chi.
Chang Chi turned his attention away from Gan Fang and looked at the young man down below. He had short black hair and red eyes. His looks, reminded him of someone. ‘Mu’er!’ Chang Chi yelled to himself, but shook his head. Chang Mu was dead, he witnessed it himself, there was no way he was still alive.
“You dare talk back to your emperor!? That is punishable by death!” Chang Chi roared at Qiu Zhen.
“Then what of you? Shouldn’t you be dead already? How many times have you talked back to Chang Mu? How many people have you slapped in the face and pissed over!? Can’t count it can you? If such an offense is punishable by death, you should have died a long time ago!” Qiu Zhen retorted.
“You dare talk to me that way!? Tell me, are you speaking up for one of your disciples or is that what you truly think?” Chang Chi asked.
Qiu Zhen sneered; “Naturally it’s what I know. You are the type to push to blame on someone else when your own plans fail you. You try to draw the attention away from you so no one will be able to suspect your actions. Let me tell you, that won’t always work. Using your status as the emperor to kill someone who you haven’t personally seen kill anyone else is just stupid! Anyone could have framed Gan Fang for killing the empress, you ask me it could have been you!”
Chang Chi laughed loudly as he glanced back at the Sky Serpent school. “Is that what you think? Tell me, do you agree with your two disciples? Am I, Chang Chi, your emperor such a person?”
The Sky Serpent school elders and disciples were quiet. Why should they speak up for two disciples just so they can get killed, that would obviously be dumb on their part. If it was up to them, they would pretend they didn’t know Gan Fang or Qiu Zhen. Losing those two didn’t mean much to them, they had plenty more disciples left.
“Se-” Chang Chi was going to speak, but he was interrupted.
“I agree, I have personally witnessed what happened and I know for a fact that my disciple didn’t do it. If you want to ask someone, I suggest you ask the men standing beside you.” An old man spoke up.
“Elder Fei, sit down! It’s only one disciple, you can get another one!” Another older man spoke up who was seated besides the old man.
“Shut it! You think I’ll let me disciple take the fall for someone else? I’ve lived a honest life, why stop now?”
“Silence!” The headmaster yelled.
He looked over the elders and the disciples of his school and sighed. Earlier Fang Wei approached him and told him of what was going on. If this was only for Gan Fang a core disciple, he wouldn’t care too much. However, it was also Qiu Zhen, a genius among genius’ he couldn’t let him die.
“Emperor Chi, my Sky Serpent school elders have spoken. Me being the headmaster, I must also voice my opinion. I have heard, and elder Fei has shown me what he has saw, thus I must agree. You cannot blame something on someone who you haven’t personally witnessed killed. I don’t know how everyone else feels, but my Sky Serpent school will back our disciple up! Even if I die today, I won’t do what you are doing. Blaming the innocent while killing the weak!”
Chang Chi shook his head. “I see… I see. As everyone can see, the Sky Serpent school wants to protect their disciples who have given me a slap in the face. This is considered rebellion.” Chang Chi coldly said as he turned his head towards the spectators. “Kill them!” He yelled.
Four figures instantly flashed out from the stands and they rushed towards Qiu Zhen. Following behind them were a few others.
“Protect the disciples, they must live!” The headmaster yelled as he rushed towards those four men.
The rest of the crowd didn’t move, they didn’t know if they should act or not. Most of them didn’t even know who the four people that acted first were, but those four clearly were ready for action. On the word kill, they moved.
