Soaring Dragon Continent, Serpents Valley
Making it to the edge of the Serpent Valley, Qiu Zhen notices that there are tons of people surrounding the entrance. Back in his time before becoming the emperor, when Qiu Zhen attended school the amount of people were half this number. Qiu Zhen didn’t attend a first rate school in the past, but even for a first rate school this number is enormous, not to mention more are flying in.
When Qiu Zhen was traveling he gained information about the Sky Serpent school, it’s not only a first rate school, it’s ranked number three in school rankings. The competition for a place even as an outer disciple is fierce, and the school only takes in the best so their later generations will be even stronger.
The top four schools all take in top geniuses from the younger generation so they can raise them and give them the best cultivation materials. The top four schools not only have one school head, rumor has it that they even have the old school head from before training. The reason that a school can get the title of rank one through four is because of the power of their students, but also the power of the elders.
Sky Serpent alone has fifteen Paragon of Truths, not including the school head or the old school head. This number alone is able to shake any other third rate school, with the power of 15 Paragon of Truths, they are able to make any one bow to them.
Qiu Zhen listened to the speech an elder made, and to sum it up to pass the first test was just to make it through the valley alive. Making it through alive sounds easy, but they are taking it a step further by making you bring them five demon cores of the sixth Qi realm or higher.
The crowd groaned when they heard this, five demon cores of the sixth Qi realm was already hard enough, but there are beast whose cultivation is higher than that in the valley. For Qiu Zhen who is at the fourth Dao Realm this test will be a cakewalk, but the people around him are all in the Qi Realization realm, with a few exceptions. If another cultivator were to peak at Qiu Zhen’s strength, they would only see that he is at the ninth level of Qi Realization, which would freak them out.

One must know that only those who were fed high grade medicine since birth and were given the ideal conditions in order to cultivate would be able to reach this realm or higher. Qiu Zhen could feel the envious gazes of those surrounding him, he couldn’t help but slightly grin. How would they understand that it wasn't because of a clan backing him and helping his cultivation, it was all due to the 5 Heavenly Dragon tattoo.
When the exam started everyone dashed into the forest, hoping to kill a sixth level Qi Realization realm beast before they were all killed. In this exam there would be a limited number of beast at a low level, and even less a number at higher cultivation, this is done to eliminate those who aren’t strong or fast enough reach the quota.
For Qiu Zhen, he could easily charge straight into the forest and kill all those beast to eliminate everyone else, but that would give away too much of his power, and people would suspect something is up. Qiu Zhen adjusted his speed to match those who were at the 9th level of the Qi realm, but he could always adjust it back when he needed to.
Dashing into the forest, it didn’t take long before Qiu Zhen found his first prey. You would understand why it’s called Serpents Valley, because all the demon beast in this valley are serpents. However, they all aren’t the same, and neither is their cultivation. Some of these Serpents carry a deadly poison, while others can spray flames from their mouth, and some have a blade on its tail that can cut a tree with ease.
Qiu Zhen’s first prey was a beast at the eigth level of Qi Realization realm, a golden tailed snake. It was four meters long, with a height of 2.5 meters and the fangs were dripping with golden venom. The scales were green except the tail which was golden, and on the golden tail was a small razor.
If it was another cultivator whose strength was equal to Qiu Zhen’s (refering to what they would see, which is ninth level of Qi Realization) they would run, because a bite from this beast would causes ones organs to start shutting down. The razor on its tail could cut a tree as thick as a thigh in half, and if that didn’t kill you then the poison hidden in it would.
The aura around Qiu Zhen seemed as if it expanded, his red eye’s turned cold and the muscles in his body relaxed. The only time Qiu Zhen truly felt at peace was when he was in a death match, but this opponent wasn’t enough for Qiu Zhen to truly feel at peace.

Darting at the beast, Qiu Zhen’s body vanished leaving only an afterimage as he approached the golden tailed snake from behind. Bang! The tail was like a whip and reacted as soon as Qiu Zhen appeared behind it, when it pierced through Qiu Zhen’s body it hit the ground leaving a hole, and as for Qiu Zhen that was only another afterimage.
Swish!
Qiu Zhen appeared right next to the golden tailed snake, and concentrated his qi on his hand, and in a slicing motion his hand went through the snake's head. Sighing Qiu Zhen extracted the snakes demon core and put in in his pocket.
---------------
The beast in the forest were child's play for Qiu Zhen, after obtaining his fourth demon core he wanted to face a real challenge so instead of heading for the exit, he took a detour. The path he took lead him to a cave that was lit by strange rocks that glowed green.
Qiu Zhen felt that within this cave held a beast whose cultivation was at the second Dao Realm, his body tingled with excitement. The whole cave was emitting the beast killing intent that could cause someone to shake in fear, but for Qiu Zhen he ran towards it faster and faster.
Bang! Boom!
Not giving the beast a fair challenge, Qiu Zhen’s palm struck the beast as soon as he appeared. The beast Qiu Zhen struck wasn’t a beast at all, or it wasn’t anymore, all he hit was the corpse of a three headed jade serpent.
Qiu Zhen’s face expression changed showing that he was confused, “What is this doing here?” A three headed jade serpent is a beast with the cultivation at the Paragon level, but it was currently in a valley meant for the Sky Serpents exam. Qiu Zhen examined the beast body and found several deadly wounds inflicted upon it, instantly he could tell it fought against an expert and survived. However the beast didn’t stay alive for long because after it came back to the cave it slowly started dying.
“Lucky!” Qiu Zhen’s voice was loud and echoed through the cave, but he didn’t care if he attracted attention because no one would enter here, with the beast lingering killing aura around. Even in it’s death you could still sense the killing intent it's giving off, and the cultivation of this beast is higher than those taking the exam.
Qiu Zhen extracted the snake’s demon core and pocketed it, after which he examined the cave more closely. What he found was a jade green gem socketed into the wall, and around it were five more sockets each missing a gem. Above that were two eyes that stared directly at the dead corpse.
Moving the corpse over, Qiu Zhen found that nothing was strange about the spot it was laying at, nor did the wall look strange. “Guess this must be some ancient puzzle that never got solved.”
Since Qiu Zhen couldn’t figure it out, he left the cave going to finish his exam. In front of the cave were a group of five youths, the highest one had a cultivation at the ninth Qi realization realm. They all looked at Qiu Zhen with greed in their eyes, the one with the highest cultivation stepped forward. “Drop all your belongings, hand over your demon cores and maybe i’ll let you join us.”
Qiu Zhen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, these kids wanted to take what he worked for with some spineless threat. Seeing how Qiu Zhen didn’t look like he would give up his belongings nor the demon cores the youths eyes turned cold. “I gave you a chance, don’t blame me if you die!”
Swosh! Swosh!
Two of the youths reacted and charged at Qiu Zhen, but how could they be faster than Qiu Zhen whose cultivation was higher than theirs. Bang! Bang! Qiu threw out two normal palm strikes sending the two youths flying into a tree.
“Come! Let this daddy play with you kids!” Qiu’s voice had a hint of mockery contained in it.
Vanishing, Qiu reappeared behind the youth with the highest cultivation and chopped the back of his neck knocking him out. The last two tried to escape but Qiu Zhen didn’t let them, and roundhouse kicked them sending them crashing into the wall of the cave.
“Guess i’ll have to give them a present considering they were nice enough to play.” Qiu Zhen walked into the forest, and shortly after came back out with a thick green vine. He tied one end to the top of the tree, then he attached the bodies of the five youths to it, and tied the end to another tree, leaving them hanging. He took all the demon cores they had, which added up to seven. The belongings and clothing they had, Qiu Zhen put those in in the cave, considering he didn’t need them.
On the ground under them, he wrote, ‘Daddy will fetch you later if you're good’ Finishing up his business Qiu Zhen went to turn in his demon cores he got.
