《Eoum: The Tenth Summon》CHAPTER 18

Coincidence exist in a way we least expected. All of us were standing looking at a nervous green-haired girl up close. She still looking nauseated but now surrounded by six more strangers close enough to feel their breathes coming down on her. She had it worse than I did when I manifested the eye. “I-is t-there s-so-something I-I can h-help?” She asked timidly while enduring her headache. She’s like a hamster that is surrounded by predators in this situation. There was a black swirling in the centre of the red pupil; her right eye was shining ominous crimson. “So she's your counterpart eh?” “Counterpart?” Akujin, with interest alight in his eyes, inspected the girl with an analysing gaze as Horatio gave him a side glance as he wondered. You know, Akujin, she doesn't know that you are in fact analysing her but right now, she might be thinking ' why is this man sizing me with lecherous eyes!?' because she was blushing furiously. “Akujin, I thought your interest was in Weapon and Armor making.” “Not quite, I found some interest in something like this. A physical evolution you might say.” Vefal with an incredulous tone went and blocked his view like a lioness staring down at a hyena. “Well, it is fine, Kristalisha is a very shy person but she is quite a gentle and a good-natured child although it took us a whole day just to get her to say something. Oh, what a bad manner I had presented. My name is Stryklos Gardrisen, a bard genius and extraordinaire.” The dandy-looking ginger-haired man got up from his seat and bowed elegantly to all us. Still bowing, He then nudged with his elbow at the dark elf that had remained stoic and silent. I guess there’s always a grumpy fellow in each group. “... Herkaloi Logamine, A dark Ulf Prince.” The dark Ulf, with an annoyed face, introduced himself begrudgingly. “And we are the Heirs that will inherit the Thrones of the Inheritors!” As he theatrically threw his arms wide, suddenly objects like the plates and the cutleries around us were rhythmically beating like the sounds of marching band playing. …… What the hell? “Sorry but Stryklos likes to show off his special ability [Invisible Legions] in which he commands a dozen of disembodied entities that can possessed non-animated objects.” Aeriasus bowed apologetically looking at the perplexed us. “It seems that I shared the same ability with Sir Drafgnai. Remember that night when the music instruments played by themselves? It was Sir Drafgnai ability!” He excitedly said that like a child who had read through entire catalogue of 'Toy'IS'Them' and talk incessantly about them in a car ride back home. “Be quiet! Plates and utensils are not to be played with!” The kitchen staff, hearing the ruckus, came out yelling. Stryklos bowed repeatedly towards her with a fluster. “Anyway, it’s alright if you guys sat down with us. I think it would be an hour more before our combat training.” Aeriasus invited us to sit down and we did. Just as I was walking towards the seat next Aeriasus, from nowhere, Vefal as slippery as the shadow and swift as the wind, had already took the seat next to her. She made a blank and pensive face as she sat down looking in front of her without even glancing me. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, I mean there’s no way she was jealous… Right? …… I sighed and sat beside Vefal. Aeriasus was watching us had giggled quietly from the side. “You two are quite close aren’t you?” “We’re combat partners although I’m more or less a punching bag rather than a proper combat partner…” “I didn’t realize he was so weak and easy to tire. I tried to gauge on the level where he can at least give a satisfying performance but even on my lowest, he still can’t reach to that level…” I feel like she was complaining about not giving her enough pleasure and I’m not ashamed of losing to her because she’s a trained soldier unlike me. Nope, not denying anything here! “How do you guys trained anyway?” “Partner system. You see, these three, Erganisu, Vefal and Kiefy are quite trained in the art of combat so they’re partnered with us to teach us how to fight, leaving our combat instructor without anything much to do.” August with a friendly demeanour spoke without any tension in them. If I have to elect anyone as a leader and spokesperson for our group, it would be him. The other group nodded in understanding. “You guys are lucky because half of your group are trained in combat. Our group has only one or two, depend on how you look at it.” Horatio begrudgingly sighed as he said that. He wasn’t innervated by that fact but was rather vexed. On the other hand, Herkaloi looked rather tersely as though he had something to say. “Hey, I am trained. When he asked on what qualification I have as a warrior, I had a credibility of years’ worth of training under me.” “Except that you had lost to Sir Drafgnai when you had boasted that you were an unmatchable warrior and you challenged him.” “You should have said he lost several times.” “It’s actually about thirteen times.” “Shut up!!” When Herkaloi tried to defend his pride, Stryklos, Aeriasus and surprisingly the timid Kristalisha had chimed in the additional facts. As of now, her right eye had returned to normal with a green pupil. Although everything was going smoothly, there was one person in the Heirs that had remained silent except for introduction. It was the Japanese girl, Koizumi Kimiko or was it Kimiko Koizumi? When I was glancing at her, she was calmly looking at each and every one of us and her eyes looked cold as though it was calmed and poised. The point of where her sight had constantly landed was at Erganisu. I remembered a Japanese subculture that tentacles and Japanese schoolgirl don’t go hand in hand with each other; I wonder how she had felt about Ghrukka? Anyway, what about Orc or rather an Orka? Does she felt threatened by our kind, wise and prudent Orka, Sir Erganisu? I’ll guess I speak up to her so she can engage in the conversation. “Kimiko, are you alright? You can speak freely here; no one here will try to intimidate you… or eat you… except maybe August.” “Hey, stop slandering me, I’m an earthling like you guys too and that’s kind of racist you know!” August quickly reacted and complained towards my joke. That’s not racist. The term ‘racist’ meant that they had a superior, subjective point of view in terms of classifying the human race via skin colour and physical traits. A cannibal can be considered to be at the end opposite of a racist as every human can be a cannibal provided that they have the right time and motivation. Or maybe he was referring to the intimidate part… hmm… Upon hearing me talk, Kimiko turned her face away as though she was surprised and I just noticed that her large tract of ‘land’ also sway in tandem. Unnoticed by me, the person next to me and the person next to that person had noticed. Aeriasus gave me a ‘boys will be boys’ look while Vefal looked at me with a subtle hint of jealousy. I then remembered, thankfully, of a particular piece of advice from a woman friend of mine. Women will always notice when you are looking. … Unfortunately, this time everyone except the girl herself had noticed my line of sight and was staring at me. I guess this will cemented me of being the most perverted of the tenth summon. Kimiko looked everyone that was staring at me, and then turned her face towards me. She was confused. Please remain confused. “Ahem… Anyway, since all of us had a silent understanding of establishing the most perverted of us, I think we should get to know each other while we have the time.” That part was unnecessary, you bard. “We haven’t introduced ourselves for the other three. I am Erganisu of Sky Slayer Clan.” “My name is Kiefy Striden.” “I am Vefal Striden.” “Akujin.” “The name is Augustus Hamilton and this our sole pervert in the group, Ruigne.” “Dude, I can introduce myself… properly.” Seriously man, that part was unnecessary, you athlete. After that our groups mingled as each of them found someone to talk with. Erganisu and Akujin were talking with the bard while Kiefy was engaged in a conversation with the proud dark Ulf prince. Aeriasus along with Kristalisha was having an awkward but a cute exchange with the quiet but polite Vefal. August and me were having a discussion with the other earthlings. With this, the earthling quadruplet is united! “Wait, Ruigne sounds weird. It’s not Earthy-like.” “Yes, it sounded like a fantasy sort of name.” Ubermensch tilted his head along with Kimiko but he looked comically as his rigid, serious expression never changed. “Well, you see, Ruigne here had lost some part of his memories.” After August had said that, the two humans cast their gaze at me with questioning expression. I nodded and proceed to tell them what happen. They were in disbelief after they heard my story. “Did you inform anyone in this world?” “I did that already, perhaps by the end of the day, they’ll have something for me.” Ubermensch with a very stern yet concern glance asked me that. “That is quite terrifying when you think about it.” “Yeah, I mean that if you lost some important memories and that you could forget that you had friends and family.” Kimiko indifferent expression became a bit gloomy considering such possibility while August fearfully shuddered upon voicing out his thought of the consequences. All of us went silent for a while as we contemplate. I did wonder what I actually lost. I believed that it was important memories and yet as far as I can tell, nothing had significantly changed about me. I remembered the part where I had made an important decision when I was eight yet I cannot remember what the decision was or what it was about. It was like reaching the destination without the journey and forgot the destination but yet, I was actually there. Kimiko, scanned all three of us that were still thinking, cleared her throat and- “-No, what I meant was that, maybe Ruigne was not alone in losing memories and someone amongst us is not themselves.” I felt my mind numbed for a while and the thoughts resumed to swirls, brewing into a storm after hearing the whamming words from Kimiko.
