《Eoum: The Tenth Summon》CHAPTER 17

After making sure that nothing had expired on my face, I was given a mirror by Dekhine after she left my side and came back. Seeing is believing, so when I checked my left eye, I noticed it was not the left eye I was born with. I remembered having a brown coloured pupil whereas this left eye pupil was green in colour and inside the pupil was a swirling white. I don’t see any difference with my left vision though. “You said something earlier about the Sealed Words right?” “Yeah.” “… So this is your special ability.” “Huh?” “Your left eye can unsealed those Sealed words.” Along with the mirror, on her other hand, there was a book and she showed it to me. The title was ‘The Eye of Synikorvus’. After skipping the foreword and right into the introduction, I started reading there. ‘The Eye of Synikorvus, The Unsealer, was first manifested by a third generation summoned, Ghallec Korvu, which he named his ability Synikorvus. The ability seems to be able to unseal the Sealed Written Words and the Forbidden Words, the former are categorized into two: Advanced and Basic. Some Advanced Written Ancient Words that are too dangerous to be use and can only be unseal by high level users and some basic Written Ancient Words are sealed on a whim of some Eomancers and the latter-Forbidden Words- are Words that are tantamount to calling disasters. There is also the counterpart which is the Right Eye of Dexcrozus, The Sealer. Even though casting Ancient Words can be sealed by a special branch of Eomancy of Colourless, it would usually take a Master to even seal written basic words in in a short time and advanced written words would take at least three Masters. Besides that, the time to seal Ancient Written Words usually takes at least an hour. But for the Sealer, it can seal any Words instantly without exhausting themselves.’ That is some abilities. So this is my special ability? Earlier I had felt a slight pulling from my mind when I had realized this manifested ability, like an inner voice trying to reach me. I do feel dizzy as well after this ability manifested. I hovers my left hand near my left eye. “Try looking at the book again and use your left eye to focus on the Sealed Words.” I did that as I look at the page. Is it me or are the words burning with white lights? After about three seconds had passed- “By the way, is it me or are the glowing of the words is getting more intense and dangerous-looking?” Akujin warily looked at the words that I had unsealed. Dekhine quickly came close towards the book and inspected it. After a second, her face fell, and then she turned her back with a quick fluid motion and ran towards the portal. Everyone was dumbfounded and I was actually more baffled on how fast she ran even though she was chubby enough to roll like a ball which would be much faster. “GUYS! QUICKLY GET YOUR ASS TO THE PORTAL, IT’S GONNA EXPLODE!!” After hearing that and the portal fizzled up, everyone ran towards the portal. I held on to the book that I was holding as I ran. We got out from there and return to our living area. We didn’t know what happen in the library room but since Dekhine said ‘it’s gonna explode!!,’ It’s better to be on the safe side. “Those Sealed Words were an advanced incantation of an Eomancy of Red explosion. Why was there such an Eomancy inside of that book!!?” Dekhine hysterically yelled. So if I may assume, the Sealed Words was something that explode and that’s bad. Oh ye gods. -- After half an hour, we checked back the library and found it to be in absolute wreckage. The smell of burning books and woods had mixed in this sight of catastrophe. Dekhine fell down to her knees and slumped back. She stares at what remains of the library with lightless eyes. “Gone... All gone are the knowledges accumulated by the Folcruza House.” She intoned it as lifeless as someone who had lost riches beyond compare. I can relate to that pain like an assignment inside a pendrive being corrupted due to a virus and the deadline was tomorrow. Oh wait, that’s not the same level of empathy… For some reason, Erganisu, upon entering the room slumped down on the ground too as though he witnessed a massacre. I guess that’s how a serious book lover would react after all. “Uwahhaha, Uwahahaha.” And she broke into a weird mix of crying and laughing. Vefal cautiously got close to her and hugged her from behind in comfort. As she tries to put Dekhine’s head to under her chin, she keeps getting repelled by touching the hair. Careful, you might break your neck if you keep doing that. So our lesson today had ended up in an explosion and lots of burning books. -- We ended up spending the remaining hours sitting in the dining hall waiting for the time for our supper and evening training. I did share with them about the Sealed Written Words and Forbidden Words so I guess we learn something. Since, our beloved genius teacher had a breakdown and had to report the destruction of their century’s old, precious library to her parent, we had to do self-study again. We spend an hour about the Sealed Words and Forbidden Words in a self-discussion and right now we were discussing about my special ability, Synikorvus. “So what’s the difference between your special ability and the normal sealing that we spoke of just now?” “Didn’t you listen properly, the difference is that his special ability can unseal words instantly while a normal Eomancy can’t do that and it can even unseal the Forbidden Words, which they say that it can’t be unsealed by normal Eomancy.” August, genuinely ignorant was explained in a harsh tone by Akujin. “That’s quite an ability you have. Aside from that, can it do anything else? Do you see any different or anything felt changed inside of you?” “Nope, I don’t feel anything changed at all and I didn’t noticed my eye had changed because the vision didn’t change or anything.” Kiefy asked me. Although, there was something about [Synikorvus] that had piqued my interest when I had heard that inner voice, perhaps I should experiment it. The eye had lasted about fifteen minutes. I tried to activate it again but to no avail. Maybe I’ll try again in one or two hours. As we sat idling, from the corner of the entrance, someone was peeking there. It was Earthling, asian-looking girl sticks her head from the entrance and look around. She spotted us and reacted like a ten year old skipping out a class. She then hurriedly back away. Another group came in. It was the Heirs. The ubermensch stepped in first and nodded to us when he saw us. All of us nodded back. After him, the dark elf and the dandy looking guy, who was waving his right palm at us and we all waved back. Aeriasus, who was shouldering the green haired, innocent-looking girl who had looked as though she was suffering from nausea and lastly, the first girl that had peeked through came last as she was currently hiding behind Aeriasus. Aeriasus, seeing us, bowed but when she spotted me, she winked her left eye in a mischievous way or so I perceived. I clumsily winked in return and I got various reactions from my group. August was burning with jealousy while Erganisu was looking at me curiously. Akujin had shown a disinterested glance while Kiefy was silently staring at me in pensive way. For some reason or maybe it was my imagination, Vefal was staring at me incredulously. If I think what I think it is, then there's only one way to resolve this! As I already winked with my left eye, I then winked with my right towards Vefal with the utmost sincerity. ….... Her expression didn't even change and the stare grew even more incredulous. She pouted and turned away and put her head on her brother's left shoulder as Kiefy sat beside her on the right. Kiefy looks at her tenderly like 'it can't be help' sort of the way and lent her the shoulder. He then looked at me. “Sorry, even though from the outside, she looks indifferent and cold but in actuality, she is very childish and emotional without showing much on her face. I guess she's a little attached to you since you're her training partner.” She's like a cat or so I would think. Is a cat clingy and are able to beat you up without breaking a sweat? Hmmm... As I ponder, I heard light footsteps coming. I looked behind and saw Aeriasus with that asian earthling girl hiding behind her and the ubermensch. “Hi there, do you mind if we join in?!” Aeriasus asked us that while smiling brightly as she and the other stood behind us. “Sure, take the seats, the more the merrier.” August, with a bright tone, invited them. The three took the seats on the lounge chair where I was sitting with Erganisu on my left. I smooched over as Aeriasus sat beside me on the right, then the girl and the ubermensch. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Aeriasus Vertalageiny.” “My name is Koizumi Kimiko, a pleasure to meet you all.” “My name is Horatio Karl Anhersen. It is a pleasure to meet you all.” Aeriasus with her usual care-free tone, the Japanese girl with a creepy and indifferent intro and the ubersmench with a perfect intonation as befit of someone on the level of perfection personified. After they introduced themselves, we all introduced back. “Our Eomancy teacher, Sir Thomas had some urgent fulfilment, saying something along 'That girl had burned down her library!' and then he prematurely ended the class and here we are.” Aeriasus casually chatted about the reason for their early dismissal. That sounded suspiciously like their teacher talking about our broken-like-a-wreck-of-a-clock of genius shepherd that is herding us into enlightenment of Eomancy. “Oh you all must be wandering what happened to that green-haired girl, Kristalisha right? She became a 'bit' dizzy because she had just manifested her special ability. You see, her right eye gave her the power to seal Ancient Words!”

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
