《The Farmer Mage》Prologue

God for Humanity, a title that once brought him joy, now tied his hands. He was a human who became a god to destroy the enemies of man. A smile mocking the joy he felt in the past marred his face. Not a line covered his face, but his blue eyes looked as old as time.

His hair was blond and cut short and kept free from his youthful face. The God for Humanity was massive in size standing nearly three meters, a solid slab of muscle. His fists hit like meteors, his feet kicked hard enough to shatter an ancient dragon’s skeleton in a single blow, and his mind was known to unleash powerful strategies and hold secrets of magic unknown to mortal men.

Despite his power, his children to a one matched him in one area or another. There were many who saw his territory as their inheritance. They would join forces and he couldn’t defend it and his son. If found they would kill the boy rather than spare a future rival. The only way to save his son and give him the time he needed to grow, was to spirit him away to an isolated place free of gods and the worst of monsters.

There were three places to choose from that were close. Noir the island country controlled by Mind Flayers, Prim Rose the qi capital of the world, and then the Halo Valley a fief in the boy’s mother’s territory. Destined to be given to Lucius his second to youngest son. Perhaps the only son he could trust with the child.

For that reason, he chose the Halo Valley. Its capital Haven had less than 5 million people living in it. Food was plentiful, and a massive river bisected the valley giving fresh water and game. Monsters grew weak and were often hunted before they could become threatening. The dungeons were farmed for monsters that could be eaten. The greatest reason for the choice was the mountains that isolated the valley.

The capital was named Haven for its defenses. Early humans sought shelter there and away from the gods. Nowadays, only a few entered or left the valley. Powerful monsters waited for any brave enough to escape. Though perhaps rumors and superstition were greater deterrents than any siege could be.

He took his son gently in his arms and his body glowed with the light of a thousand suns. In his arms his son looked up at him he was barely a year old and already he held an aura of a god. It rested within him quietly waiting for his own build to awaken it.

On his waist was a sword made from a holy metal. It was the enemy of demons, undead and dark type monsters. Its power would protect his son from the nastier predators in the air. Holding his son in a bubble of power, he raced for the mountains before his children could intercede. The God for Humanity raced across the land in a streak of gold.

The dead sprang from the earth at his feet. Millions of arms reached out to grab him and pull him and his child under. Gold light covered his blade, as he began to part the sea of undead. Nothing survived his dance of death. Bursting from the ground, towering behemoths made of thousands of corpses rose out of the hills. With a single glance the giants exploded their collective bodies turning to dust. A flight of bone dragons with lich riders approached from behind.

The god leapt and began to fly. His aura exploded outward like a golden beacon, he could be seen from miles around. Shadowy figures from the dark flew after him. Spells of lightning, flame, cold, poison, gravity, and death tried in vain to catch up to him. Stars of light shot from his body quickly expanding into miniature suns. They fell like goliaths turning the ground to glass and turning the undead to ash on contact.

Just as he was about to reach the safety of the mountain range, a silver aura flashed, and a woman wreathed in silver and darkness stood before him. She reached out for the child, but he held the him closer to his chest. Instead of shooting spells at him, she argued. Tears rolled down her eyes and the monsters refused to attack. Perhaps, they were fearful of clashing with beings that shined with silver and gold.

Eventually, the woman stepped aside. The monsters fled and the man in gold flew towards the mountains. He searched the land until he found a cradle with a still born in a farming village near the city. He removed the dead child and placed his own. He buried the dead child and gave his son the likeness of the dead infant.

With his child safe, he flew out of the mountains, leaving his child with the new family. His son was safe from his family of gods. Someday when he was older, Lucius would come and Lucifer the God for Humanity would ask his son for forgiveness.
