《Empress' Evolution》75. Survival

Writhing in pain, Mirsha did her best to hold onto her consciousness. The pain was too much, unbearable even, but if she blacks out, then she'll most likely die.
The being before her was small, its level lower than hers, but it was stronger in all facets. It was fast, strong, and it could react to almost anything.
Then, all of a sudden, Mirsha saw Lilith's Tribulation Leopard bigger than she should.
A clap of thunder and a rain of blood; a scream echoed throughout, and a scream pierced the ears of daemons and humans alike.
A pained scream like no other, a scream of pain and desperation, but not of despair.
An arm had been taken from Mirsha, but it was not the time to give up,
'Scream, let it all out, and then…return to fighting and then surviving!'
The Tribulation Leopard looked around, it saw the charred flesh of the daemons, and with a growl, it drew closer to Mirsha's face. The Tribulation Leopard crushed Mirsha's severed arm, bones and then spat it out to ask her, "What do you think are you doing to my people?"
The pressure being exerted on her body caused her pain; she could feel her ribcage cracking. Her flesh was torn, blood spurted from the showing cracks.
Mirsha closed her mouth shut, blood seeped out from its corner. She faced the moon and the maw of a beast she did not know even existed. Lightning was lacerating her body, destroying every part of her external self.
From her clothes to her skin, everything was being torn to pieces, but before it could reach her locket, Mirsha let out a piercing roar startling even Lilith.
"Dragon Fire Wall!" she activated a skill.
She created a wall of fire that enveloped her and the beast. A startled howl echoed; the beast backed away to avoid getting killed by the flames as Mirsha suffered third-degree burns.
Most of her clothes caught fire, her hair, but soon, she canceled the skill before gaining distance. Her skin was torched, but she couldn't care less.
Like the scorching flames that spread around the forest, a similar kind of flames surrounding the area began forming around her. Balls of fire appeared, ten to hundreds; the fireballs did not stop appearing one after the other.
She didn't want to die.
The thought of her family crying because of her death fueled Mirsha's desire to survive, 'I'm coming home.'
Mirsha hatefully looked at the daemon that took her arm and whispered:

"Fire Blitz."
The flames flew out, trying to kill anyone and everyone around. Mirsha grew desperate to live; she held onto the locket and gathered strength from within.
She targeted the Tribulation Leopard, as well as the other daemons that might come after her.
But Lilith wanted to avoid such an end.
Lilith's people were already numbered, and she doesn't want to risk their number.
So, as another clap of thunder echoed, she disappeared and from where she stood appeared a wall of ice blocked the majority of the flames. The ice cracked, but it wasn't destroyed so quickly.
"Go away! I'll handle this! Make yourselves scatter! I can't concentrate on this fight while I am protecting someone!"
Lilith shouted as she moved. Tackling the human away, the daemons left behind stared at the tiny back of their Priestess. Her words resonated in their hearts.
"She wants to protect us from the dangerous human!"
Their thoughts overlapped and coincided with one another. Their loyalty increased.
"Damn beast!"
Being tackled and then dragged by the collar, the Leopard brought her somewhere no one present. Mirsha felt the need to fight more intensely so she could escape. Mirsha was already in a place where no one was present. If she wanted to live, she would need to create an opening.
'This mission is already a bust. What was that little girl they are talking about? That thing and her wind spell destroyed our carefully laid down plan.'
Everything went to shit from the start. Right after Mrisha's spell got deflected by the girl and scattered the flames, pandemonium ensued.
'I thought this would be easy. With the fire element being thick here, I thought I'll be able to overpower the daemons, but it seems like I failed! Dammit! I can't die here!'
Mirsha stared hatefully at Lilith. She gathered her MP as she prepared herself to summon a strength that lay dormant within her. This would eat her, but... she was ready for the consequences if she could keep her life, 'Sorry, Wil... no, no, no, not now!'
However, Mirsha suddenly stopped as she found herself in a rather alarming situation. Her MP had run out.
'I can't let this beast know…I need to buy time!'
"Out of MP, aren't you?"
Mirsha's head turned to the leopard. She was trying to hide the fact that her MP reserves were no more. But she was seen through. However, so what if that was the case? She wishes to live, so she turned her back and tried to run.

Blood spurted as her back was torn apart by Lilith. Mirsha fell to the ground and was sent spiraling to a tree. She crashed and was forced to lean on the tree. As she did so, she watched the beast walk towards her.
Its steps were close, but every inch it got closer, the more scared Mirsha became. Mirsha held onto her locket and cried, "I'm sorry, Lucia, mommy can't come back home."
However, as she raised her head, she saw something bizarre. The leopard stopped on her tracks and sat on the ground twenty inches away from her feet.
"Do you want to live?" it asked.
Mirsha stiffened and failed to answer. Lilith was too impatient and began standing up, "It seems like you don't want to."
"I do! I want to live!" but moments before she could, Mirsha's voice echoed in Lilith's head, "Please, let me go! I have a daughter; I can't die yet!"
"Show me that locket." Lilith reached out, and for a moment, Mirsha hesitated but still gave the Leopard the locket. Lilith looked at the picture of the young child and who had a broad smile and hugged a penguin plushie!
Lilith chortled as she commented, "You can't die because of this little beast? Why?"
"I don't want her to grow up motherless! I don't want her to live without a mother!"
Mirsha's words turned Lilith's chortle into a guffaw.
"Hypocritical! Hahaha! You, humans, are hypocritical. You can't die because this little beast will become motherless when you just killed my people who had a family of their own? Are you pertaining that only you humans can have motherly affection?"
"That's not…"
"Heh, no matter, you made me laugh, so why not let you live? I'll give you a choice, I will let you escape and live, but you will have to be under control. I'll have one of my people place a curse on you that will let me kill you whenever I wanted to. Also, you must obey my instructions for leaving this place. Or, I can kill you now and let this little beast become motherless. What to do you say?"
"I'll live, please, let me live!"
Mirsha answered without hesitation, which made Lilith smile even more. Lilith then went silent for a whole minute before stating, "Just wait, okay? They are coming here."
And three minutes passed, an Ogre carrying a corpse and a golden-haired lady arrived.
Lilith looked at Sylva's eyes as if to confirm something as she said, "Do it, place a curse on her."
Sylva reached out to Mirsha, who tried swatting her hand away. But Lilith glared at her, and the process continued without any more meddling. Golden Runes appeared on Mirsha's flesh.
"That is a Golden Death Mark; it has the property of space, and if I want to, that will activate, and it will carve out your chest and heart together. I will not kill you and won't touch anyone from your family, just make sure to understand that you will be under me from now on. Do you understand?"
Mirsha nodded her head.
"Good." Lilith was satisfied; she quickly turned back to a loli.
When Mirsha saw this, her eyes widened. Even the name hovering above the child's head changed. She had never seen anything like it.
Lilith saw her shocked face and then smiled. She acted as to rummage around her kimono and threw Mirsha an HP potion, an HNP, and the corpse Killa brought with him, "Soon, I'll contact you through that. Don't worry, I know what I'm saying. Take the red vial to replenish your health, and take the corpse with you as you head out to hide the fact that you simply escaped. Tell everyone you succeeded in eradicating us. Tell them you burned down the village and calling for help using the HNP after three days, do everything I told you, got it!? If you do anything else, I'll kill you through the Death Mark. Oh yeah, make sure not to mention any of the Race you saw here; tell them... it was a Fiery Demonic Imp that started a colony of daemons. Don't worry, I'll prepare everything."
Mirsha had so many questions, but Lilith already turned her back against her and then began walking away. The two daemons which just arrived to place the curse on her and bring the corpse snorted as they left.
As she was spared by the child, Mirsha did what she was told and left dragging the corpse out. She believed and feared Lilith's threats, and three days later, executed the orders she was given. Mirsha called for help as she saw a cloud of black smoke rising from the direction of the village they were supposed to eradicate.
'I'm... tired.' Mirsha collapsed as she saw the rescue team’s Aircraft from afar.

Asturian Warbringer - A LitRPG on Earth
Currently releasing 5 chapters a week Luke Kells liked only one thing about himself: his green eyes. He hated getting bullied, hated being poor, hated being an orphan, hated his weakness, hated the government, hated his life. If someone had given him a button to push and kill everyone but him and his granddad, he would've done it without a second thought. Then, one day, after fainting during a beating, he woke up with memories that would change his life. Magic, martial arts, how to craft special artifacts; he knew it all. Anyone would’ve taken that path to glory at once. However, he had to deal with a lot on his plate first. To even begin walking that path, Luke first had to deal with his own psychological issues. Almost two years of brutal bullying that was akin to torture and no support from the school staff of the police had left him with a broken soul. Before even realizing he could be rich or powerful, he had to bring himself out of the mental hellhole he found himself in. Oh, and his memories also told him the Sentinel Tower would change reality in six months to protect the planet from the Demonic Horde. But that wasn’t as important as not making the local bully angry, right? A story about personal growth, overcoming obstacles, and reaching absolute glory at the end of the path. This is a slow-paced, character-centered story. If you want something faster paced, filled with almost immediate and nonstopping action, check out my other novel: Modern Awakening - A cultivation, LitRPG, apocalyptic novel. Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.
