《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 53: Second Demon attack

General Nikolai’s was feeling a little bored.
Aside from the Manticore attack that happened a few weeks ago, nothing much happened and now that Nelson and the others left for Lancia he really didn’t have any one to talk to now.
In his mind Nelithea has been peaceful, too peaceful.
Ever since the initial Demon attack and the few Orc skirmishes nothing happens around these parts. Even bandits were not foolish enough to attack Larien or Fort Spearhead. Thankfully Nelson was able to secure a joint military deal with Aleria which included clause for Military exercises with the Alerian army.
General Nikolai has studied the art of war in a very intimate way, from the ancient Chinese text of Sun Tzu, to the records of the last greatest human conflict; World War 2. Even in his youth he would always enjoy playing strategy games of all types from real time, to turn based. He always viewed war as something fascinating, the clashes of ideologies, the different strategies, and most importantly; different technologies.
While his purpose on Nelithea isn’t to conquer and occupy, he still looked forward to being able to compare Earth’s blood soaked war strength to this fantastical world filled with unknown monstrosities. In fact he enjoyed the prospect of pitting science and magic although in his mind he views Earth’s weaponry to be utterly superior. After all, if the people of Earth wished it, they could turn Nelithea into a smouldering ruin black glass and death.
He eagerly waited to see Aleria’s military might, eager to see its strengths and weaknesses.
I can’t wait to see just how strong these people really are. The General said as he looked at a picture of a “Sky knight” on his desktop computer.
But what he was most curious about where the demons.

He then opened up a folder that contained all the images of the monsters encountered by the first scouting group two years ago. He is still very puzzled as to what they were.
If I recall correctly, Nelson told me that these demons retreated when the scouting team arrived. Nikolai said to himself.
But he also added that, according to the King, the demons never retreat. So why did they flee when they battled our forces? He asked himself.
Although he first thought that the demons are nothing more than an unorganized bunch of monsters, the fact that they retreated probably meant that there were something more to them. After all, if an unknown threat suddenly appeared and started destroying your forces, the wise thing to do is to retreat and regroup, which in itself contradicts the demon’s recorded behaviours since they are known to fight to the last monster.
He thought maybe, just maybe, the demons have some kind of chain of command. Although he still needs more proof.
Suddenly he received a transmission on his computer, which meant that it was something urgent. Since normally any kind of report would be given to him in person by a soldier.
He then clicked on the icon of the transmission and a video feed appeared on his screen, it was from the control room of the military base. Nikolai then had a guess of what happened.
“General Nikolai sir!” The man on the opposite of the feed did his salute.
“At ease soldier, what is it that you want to me to know?” Nikolai asked with great interest.
“Sir the surveillance drones and our radar have detected multiple incoming threats 1000km west of fort spearhead!” The soldier exclaimed.
“How many?” Nikolai asked.
“According to the data from the drones the enemy is approximately 70,000 strong sir!” The soldier declared?

“70,000? Are they human or at least human like?” Nikolai asked.
“Well sir they are not, they are most likely demons. And this time they brought in some new friends with them as well”. The Soldier added.
“New friends?” Nikola asked.
“Here let me show you.” The soldier then sent gave him a live feed from one of the drones.
The general indeed saw new monstrosities. While the “Goblins” and the “ogres” were all present, he saw hulking bipedal beasts that have. It’s skin was very dark, almost completely black and like the ogres it had bony protrusions growing from its back. It also had a long tail that had what looked like horns attached to it.
Aside from that he also saw a gigantic six legged monster that had overgrown tusks growing from its face. It had armour like scaled protecting its back running from its head down to its absurdly long tail.
He also noticed that these “demons” moved in organized rows with the weaker looking grunts in front. This was the evidence that he was looking for. These “demons” are not idiotic, mindless, beasts. They have structure.
“Is this all?” Nikolai asked the soldier.
“No, we also detected about 500 flyers escorting the main force.” The soldier explained as he shifted to another drone feed.
Nikolai then saw a jet black four winged flyer that had no one riding it. Its head resembled that of a crow but it had three eyes and an abnormally large beak thing. It also had something that looked like feathers but at the same time It didn’t. Upon a few more zooms he realized that it was black fur.
“Interesting.” Nikolai said as he rubbed his chin.
“How long until the reach the “dead zone”. Nikolai asked while smiling at the soldier.
“With the speed they are going, approximately five hours sir.” The soldier replied while smiling.
“I see, then send the word to the entire base. Raise alert level 5!” Nikolai declared.
“Also scramble the all the flyers we have, I want their air capabilities completely crushed once they reach the dead zone! I want all our big guns pointed at them!” The general commanded.
“Sir Yes sir!” The soldier said as he saluted.
“Oh and one final order.” The General said with a smile.
“Yes General?” The soldier.
“I don’t want any of those freaks getting past the dead zone you hear?” The general exclaimed.
“SIR YES SIR!” The soldier replied as the transmission was cut.
Sirens can now be heard throughout the Fort Spearhead, and as he looked out the window he could see the soldiers scrambling to get ready. He could also see that some of them were excited about this attack. The General simply laughed at this sight.
“Now go, proud soldiers of humanity.” Nikolai said to himself.
“SHOW THEM THE EARTH’S MIGHT!” He exclaimed at the top of his voice.
