《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 50: Volhorn

As a new day dawns on Lancia one man could hardly contain his excitement. It was none other than Steven.
Today was the day that he would get to visit the Largest adventurer’s hub in the Kingdom and it filled his heart with joy. He could not wait to see all the recorded fantastical creatures the guild has encountered and was hoping that maybe, just maybe, they would have a few specimens with them.
He woke up quite early, took a bath, and went to eat breakfast. Surprisingly, he wasn’t the first one there. Both Engr. Yamato and Dr. Susan had woken up before him and were already eating. They were served Bacon and eggs with toast and coffee.
“You two are quite early today.” Said Steven trying to make conversation.
“I plan to inspect the Mithril mines today.” Yamato replied.
“What about you Dr. Susan?” Steven asked the female doctor.
At first she just gave her an indifferent look but decided to answer his question anyway.
“No particular reason, the clinic won’t be starting today since we are still getting the word out to the public.” Dr. Susan said as she took a sip of her coffee.
“Plus I’m used to waking up early.”
“I see. Oh I’ve been meaning to ask Dr. Susan, if it’s okay.” Steven then said
“Hmm what is it?”
“About the local microbes here in Nelithea, the ones you’ve found so far.”
“What about them?”
“Did any of them seem, strange to you?” Steven asked with great interest.
“What do you mean? Of course they would be strange since most of them are of a new species.” Dr. Susan replied.
“Well, did you find microbes that looked like a mashed together creature from two known species?” Steven continued his questioning.

Dr. Susan then stared at him for a little, seemingly perplexed by the question.
“No, I didn’t find anything like that, so far. Why do you ask?” Dr. Susan replied.
“Well it’s because of the Manticores, their DNA was strange seeing as it had both lion and bat.” Steven explained.
“Hmm I see, that is indeed strange.”
“Well if you find anything like that in the microscopic world please tell me immediately.” Steven politely asked.
“Fine, but don’t bother me okay? I will just let you know if I find anything strange.” Dr. Susan agreed.
“That would be more than enough.” Steven smiled.
After breakfast Steven then prepared to go to the Adventurer’s hub. He once again wore his explorer outfit complete with a hat. He also brought a tablet so that could take notes and pictures of whatever he would find.
As expected he was then guarded by two soldiers equipped with Exoskeletons to guarantee his safety. Steven didn’t really care as long as they didn’t interfere with his work.
Then Steven realized his blunder; he didn’t know where the Hub was.
Although this problem didn’t really last song since he simply asked the locals who were kind enough to give him direction. Although he was mostly expecting that they would trick him so he had to ask multiple people.
After a few minutes of walking he finally reached the Adventurer’s hub.
It was a larger version of the hub found in Larien, in fact it was bigger than embassy. Steven then entered and found himself in a reception area which looked almost the same as the hub in Larien.
Huh, so I guess they like keep their buildings looking the same huh. Steven thought to himself.
Steven then approached the lady at the front desk, and was surprised to find that she was an elf.

Oh, it seems the guild will employ anyone. This is quite nice.
“Good day to you Mr. Outsider. We have been expecting you.” The elf exclaimed
“Huh, how do you know who I am?” Steven asked.
“Your clothing and the two armoured men behind you” The elf said while pointing at the soldiers escorting him
“Oh of course.”
The elf then let out light giggle.
“We received a letter from the King a few days ago telling us of your planned visit.” The elf continued.
“Oh I see, can I have a look at your catalogue now?” Steven eagerly asked.
“Yes, but the guild master would like to meet you first.” The elf replied.
“Guild master? Why?”
“He just wants to meet new people, especially the ones who came from another world.” The elf replied with a smile.
“I see, then let’s go and meet him”. Steven replied.
“Oh and your escorts can come along too don’t worry.” The elf added as she looked at the soldiers behind Steven.
They simply nodded in response.
Steven was then lead to the second floor with the soldiers right behind him. The elf then knocked on a normal looking wooden door.
“Excuse me Guild Master, your guest has arrived.” The elf said.
“Excellent let them in!” A voice from inside the room replied.
The elf then opened the door for Steven, but before he entered he asked his escorts to wait for him outside. The soldiers agreed.
He then entered the room and found an elderly man who looked to be the same age as Nelson but with a buff and burly body. He was taller than Steven by a few inches at most. Upon entering the man joyfully walked up to Steven to greet him.
“Greetings Outsider!” The guild master exclaimed as he shook Steven’s left hand.
“I am Volhorn Stormwind, current Headmaster of the Adventurer’s guild. It’s a pleasure to meet you!” The head master introduced himself with great enthusiasm, something Steven eagerly returned.
“I am Professor Steven Irwin a biologist and explorer from Earth!” Steven replied matching Volhorn’s glee.
“An explorer you say! Well anyone who craves adventure is an admirable person in my book, please have a seat. I know you have a lot of things you want to talk about.” Volhorn said to Steven.
There was a small “coffee table” surrounded by three chairs in the room directly in front of Volhorn’s desk. Steven then sat on the chair placed on the right.
Volhorn took out something that looked like porcelain and poured some liquid onto a cup and gave it to Steven.
Steven then drank the liquid and was surprised that it tasted like black tea, although it had a much lighter color compared to the tea he is used to.
After drinking a few sips he then faced Volhorn who now sat opposite of him.
“Now then.” Steven began.
“What can you tell me about the “monsters” of Nelithea.” Steven asked.
“Ohohoho” Volhorn let out a funny laugh.
“I have a lot of things to tell, don't worry.” Volhorn replied with a smile.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
