《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 27: Intuition

“Study and research magic? Do you want to be a sorcerer?” The King asked Karl
“No, your majesty I simply want to do a comprehensive scientific study of the phenomenon known as magic.” Karl clarified.
“Scientific study? Please explain yourself” The King replied
“Very well your Majesty” Karl then straightened his posture and began his speech
“I would like to study just how magic works through the lens of science. Meaning I will use my understanding of the physical world and various tools just to see how magic truly works!” Karl exclaimed
“The people of Nelithea just think of Magic as nothing more than a supernatural phenomenon and nothing more and I find that unacceptable! You see your majesty back in my world Magic doesn’t exist and is treated nothing more than fantasy, but over here it is part of reality, an observable phenomenon. It is no longer a “supernatural” occurrence but a “natural’ one. As natural as gravity, as natural as light, as natural as us and I want nothing more than to understand and tame this new “force”“ Karl spoke passionately.
“I see, but wouldn’t letting you research and study magic be the same as me handing out our strongest assets to your people?” The King voiced his concern
“Education, goods, raw material are one thing, but magic is our most powerful weapon. Pardon me for being rude, but I still don’t trust your people completely. After all you suddenly appeared in this world without warning.” The King continued.
“I understand your concern, but do not worry your majesty.” Karl replied almost immediately
“My research will benefit you as well since I plan to share whatever things I discover to you and your people, after all I believe that knowledge is a right that all people regardless of status should enjoy.” Karl continued.
“Well, even if I give you permission, it still means nothing” The King replied with a noticeable disappointment
“W-hy?” Karl asked
“All I need are some books, or maybe even a few high level sorcerers from Dawnward” Karl getting a bit desperate now

“The problem is Dawnward itself” The king revealed
“What do you mean your Majesty”
“Dawnward is an exclusive institution, and they hold all the books and records that contain all the more profound knowledge on magic” The King then paused
“They will not let anyone enter and take away these books for they hold great power, they fear that if the knowledge recorded within their walls fell into the wrong hands it will lead to catastrophe. Only the members of the institution are allowed to view these books and are greatly disciplined in the art of magic to make sure they will not lose their way.” The King then said as he looked at Karl
“There have been cases of them disposing of former members who went down the wrong path and abused their power”
Karl looked down as if he was deep in thought, and suddenly he laughed. An awkward kind of laugh that contained many emotions, but the most prominent one was joy.
“No problem your Majesty, there is a simple solution to this” Karl replied
“Let me become a member of the Magical institute Dawnward” Karl said as he raised his hand with an open palm towards the King
“What?” The King jolted in surprise
“It’s the perfect solution! You said they will only allow members correct? Then I will become a member of their institution. I believe that I will be able to contribute a lot to the research of magic and elevate it to new heights!” Karl was now brimming with confidence and enthusiasm.
“How about it your majesty? I’m sure that if you can put in a few good words for me?” Karl said with a smug confident smile plastered on his face
“HAHAHAHA” The King laughed
“I haven’t seen anyone with this much passion for a long time” The King exclaimed
“But, I won’t put in a word for you” The King said in a serious voice
Karl was shaken for a bit but then the King continued
“How about you convince them to let you join instead?” The King suggested to Karl

“Really?” Karl replied in a hopeful tone.
“But you are leaving today right? Then let’s do it now. Tell one of the guards outside that I am calling for Grand Scholar Silver Eye of the Dawnward institute. You can then wait for him at the castle reception area.” The King ordered
“Sorry that I had to make you do it yourself but we still have much to discuss here with Mr. Nelson. Plus from your passionate speech, I can see that you probably can’t wait any longer.” The King said in an apologetic voice
“No problem your majesty! Then I shall excuse myself and do just that” Karl said as he excused himself and went outside the room.
Nelson shook his head and looked at the king once again
“I am sorry about his manners your majesty”
“Don’t worry about it, young people are like that anyway.” The King replied
“Now then, let us start our main agenda Mr. Nelson”
“Yes I see it is time for that it seems” Nelson then replied
“Let us now talk about the Military” The King smiled
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Scholar Silver Eye was pacing through the halls of Dawnward. He enjoyed seeing these young pupils eagerly study magic in their classes, but most of all he was most proud of his pupil Burning Rose. Her talent and passion made her an unprecedented prodigy of magic obtaining the prestigious rank of Scholar in such a young age
This made him happy because he had found a worthy successor his position as Grand Scholar. He knew that he was getting old and that one day someone had to take over and knew that it would Burning Rose. His intuition was telling him that the world of magic will enter a renaissance in the coming years and he trusted it. After all it was because of his intuition that he took in Burning Rose under his wing.
“The future looks bright for Dawnward” Silver Eye said to himself
“Now if only I could do something her attitude. No matter, she is still young and will learn many more things in the coming years.” Silver Eye continued confident in his own thoughts.
Suddenly a parrot landed on his shoulder and talked.
“Grand scholar Silver Eye, it seems you have been summoned by the King himself to the castle, they say it is urgent. There are knights waiting for you outside the institute.” The Parrot said in a deep voice that didn’t match it’s cute and colourful appearance
“The King? Why? No matter, I will go see him now” Silver Eye replied as he moved towards the entrance of the institute
“Let me go with you” The parrot added
“The Outsiders are currently still at the castle correct? I believe this has something to do with them. I will protect you just in case something unexpected happens” The Parrot continued
“As you wish” Silver Eye agreed
Silver Eye was then escorted by knights back to Castle and was lead to the castle reception area but the one waiting for him wasn’t the King, it was someone else. It was a tall blonde man with blue eyes wearing an unfamiliar looking coat. He recognized the man, it was the same man Burning Rose humiliated at the Banquet.
“So, it seems he’s here to make us apologize for that incident” Silver eye thought to himself.
The man, upon seeing, him quickly walked forward to approach him.
“Oh it’s the old man from the banquet!” The Outsider said in a joyful voice which perplexed the old man. He was expecting his mood to be a little more sour because of the incident.
“Then this will make things easier” The outsider said.
What happened next was something Silver Eye never expected; The man bowed in front of him almost begging him for one thing. A request that he never thought he would hear from an outsider
“Please let me become a member of the Dawnward Magic institute!”

Again from Scratch Saga: Izmittor Unchained

For Tercius, a man mysteriously reborn nearly thirteen years ago, there was only one answer to both questions. Feeling compelled, he sets out to journey to the northern Sogea and its infamous Western Izmittor mountain range, a natural stronghold of sky tearing mountains and deep canyons. The many natural dangers of Western Izmittor would be hard enough to navigate safely for a lone traveler, but to make matters worse Tercius had enemies in the heights of Western Izmittor, humans and spirits who would see him dead if they ever learned of his true connection to the Pyramid of Tergaron and the Society of the Magi. To make things even more difficult, he also had to ensure that the true extent of his own Innate Skills remained hidden, for if the prying eyes of the world fell on him and his many secrets came to light, then he would never again know a day of peace. Raven: The Beginning
'What's the worst that could happen'? is what I thought to myself as I entered the World of the Veil with a new, experimental machine that the company created. I was originally excited to participate in their alpha test, and now, looking back, I was just a naive little girl that didn't know what it was like to truly suffer. Sarah was one of the world's best assassin players, but she wasn't prepared for getting stuck as a low-level player in a new game. Suddenly she has to struggle just to survive against the monsters of the world, while also keeping her secret from the authorities. What happens when the killing, and the consequences, are just too real? Author's Note (and a Warning): This book is about a normal person that is forced into a fantasy / medieval environment. What could possibly go wrong with our heroine? This novel is a sort of, legacy. I wanted to at least put it out there before I passed away due to a combination of financial difficulty, homelessness, job loss, and my last interview taking up the last of my savings (which I did not get the job). If by some miracle, and I get a job that can give me a pay advance by next week (4/8) and I survive this turbulent time, I will edit this - and the formating of the book). If you are so willing, please donate on my patreon page. Regards, Dave

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
