《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 24: Trading of goods

“Good Morning Mr. Ambassador, I take it you had plenty of rest?”
“Why of course dear King, allow me to thank you for your hospitality”
Nelson and the King began exchanging pleasantries, yet whether they were being sincere or not is anyone’s guess.
The delegation entered the castle’s convention room, which was rather large room commonly used whenever the King needed to talk the high noble houses of Aleria. The room was closed off completely with no windows and only one door and because it had no source of sunlight it was lit by a chandelier similar to the ones found in the banquet hall. There was a painting of a man in brilliant armor that hung at the wall behind the king. Curiously the painting looked like it was something made from the renaissance era of Earth with the beautiful usage of pigment and masterful strokes. Even someone not well versed in the fine arts would see beauty in this painting.
The door was then closed from behind and people inside were the King and the Delgation. Nelson thought of this as foolish but understood that they must have some type of magic protection for the King just In case something went wrong
“Well then, take a seat my friends. We have a lot to talk about” The King said gesturing for the meeting to start
“As you wish your majesty” Nelson replied
Everyone then sat down anywhere they wished around the table. Nelson sat down at the chair directly facing the King, while on his right sat Leia, Karl, and Steven respectively and at his left sat Susan and Yamato respectively. When everyone made themselves comfortable the King spoke again.
“Pardon me but, I was under the impression that I would only be meeting with Mr. Nelson here. Do your companions have business with me?” The King asked a bit surprised by the amount of people who were at the meeting.
“They are here to cover certain aspects of this diplomatic meeting that I sadly are not well versed on. I brought them along so that they can explain our more “complex” deals with you and your kingdom” Nelson replied to the King’s question.

“I see then, let us begin shall we. I hereby declare that the Earth-Aleria diplomatic convention has officially begun” The King sad in a loud voice.
“So, Mr. Ambassador. I would like to start off with the simplest topic on my agenda.” The king spoke as he looked at Nelson
“Oh do tell your Majesty” Nelson spoke with great interest.
“I would like to establish a trading and commercial partnership with Earth.” The King said with a smile on his face.
Nelson was happy the King brought this up early. In fact this was the first thing he wanted to smoothen out with in today’s meeting. In the short time he has spent in the castle, he found great interest in the mundane objects in the castle like the beddings and clothes. He found them to be of great quality and was sure the people of Earth would find great value in them. Not only that but the rare and unique foods served at the Banquet piqued his interest. He knew that the Kingdom had much more to offer in terms of goods whether it was consumable or not.
The King also had the same idea when it comes to trading goods. The products brought back by the Merchants who travelled to Larien were very prized among the nobility. But the King knew that these products were not actual luxurious products but common products of earth due to the fact that they were selling them to everyone back in Larien in very affordable prices. The King wanted his people to enjoy these products equally as well. But he also had another agenda in mind.
“I see, then how do you propose we go over the details of this agreement?” Nelson asked the King
“Now that you have put on the spot, let me lay out my terms” The King replied
“I want you to build that place you sell your goods over at Larien what was it called?”

“Supermarket your Majesty”
“Ah yes, Supermarket. I want you build a supermarket in the capital and other cities in my territory so that the my people can purchase your world’s goods without the help of the Middlemen which are the Merchants”
“I see but, wouldn’t that kill off the business of these Merchants?” Nelson asked the King
“Worry not, those Merchants who sell your products over here at Lancia aren’t making their money exclusively from it. The reselling of your products were nothing more than a side venture for them but they are taking advantage of it by selling them at a high price. In fact I view them as parasites.” The King said as he shook his head.
“With you being able to directly sell in my territory this unfair practice would stop and more people would be able to enjoy your products generating more profit for you, and some new novel things for my people to enjoy”
“But then since we are selling in your territory, it would mean that we would be subject to taxation am I right?” Nelson spoke as if it was a matter of fact.
“Well of course” The King also replied as if it was a matter of fact.
“Wouldn’t you make more money If you bought the goods yourself and sold it?” Nelson asked
“Well, that would make me no different from those merchants and besides, this way you would be able to sell more products since your original prices are very affordable that common folk could buy them”
“And you would be able to collect more tax, thus collecting more money am I right?” Nelson said with a smile on his face
“You’re making it sound like I’m some kind of evil mastermind” The King responded in turn
Nelson and the King then both shared a short laugh.
“Now then for my agenda” Nelson now started to speak his terms
“I would like your kingdom to supply us with your goods as well. I happen to think the fabric found on the beds in the castle and the different food items during the Banquet of great value. These items alone would be popular on Earth, and I know you have more interesting goods in your Kingdom correct?” Nelson asked.
“Why yes of course but-” the King immediately replied.
“But there is a problem. I don’t think my kingdom would be able to satisfy the demand, after all we are talking about distributing goods to an entire world, not just a city or Kingdom.” The King added as he shook his head, but this time it was a bit exaggerated which meant he had another motive.
“What are you trying to say?” Nelson asked.
“I know from the fact that you can sell your goods at low prices that your world’s production capabilities are extremely strong” The King added.
“Do you see where I am getting at?” The King then asked Nelson
“You want us to sell you production techniques and technologies correct?” Nelson then said with a smile.
“Correct! I want you to help improve our production capabilities” the king said in a loud excited voice.
“You are crafty man your Majesty” A hint of amusement can be heard in his voice.
“But very well, let us discuss this in further detail once I’ve met with a few more people back on Earth.” Nelson then replied
“Now I think we are finished with the trading of goods” Nelson continued
“Let us now move to another topic still related to trading” The King continued Nelson’s sentence
“Let us discuss raw materials” The King and Nelson said in unison.

The signs were all there. A mysterious fever spreading in the wake of the pandemic. Increasing incidents of unrest with surprisingly little coverage by the media. Breakdowns in basic services. Nick had thought for years that total social collapse would come in his lifetime – he just never expected that collapse to come from the unquiet dead. As soon as he was sure enough that the potential danger outweighed the awkwardness of admitting that yes, the dead were rising, Nick grabbed his bug out bag and bugged out. It felt, at times, that the zombie movies, comics, and games he’d grown up with had been preparing for this moment. And Nick was right. But also very very wrong. After Z is an apocalyptic occult interactive serial about survivors hiding from the dead in a forest preserve. A new chapter is posted every week, and every week supporters vote on which way the story flows.
