《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 7: Everything we know

After they arrived at Nelithea, Karl and the others were given time to rest and be familiar with the new environment. Admittedly aside from the bluish moon on the sky, they didn’t really feel the fantasy setting simply because they were inside another Military installation. The Military installation is called Fort spearhead, which is a straightforward yet boring name (like Fort New world on the other side). This installation is far bigger than the one they came from housing to 40,000 personnel with 30,000 of them being soldiers, two air strips with four air craft docking bays, several bunkers housing military ground hardware ranging from armored personnel carriers to HAEs (Heavy Assault Exsosuits).
Heavy assault exosuits are humanoid shaped mechs standing at 12 meters tall. It’s basically an armored cockpit with arms and legs. It was designed to an infantry support unit specializing in urban environments because of its flexibility. Its limbs capable of full human motion and its armaments aren’t standardized meaning it can be swapped out depending on the needs; its pilots however are special.
Because of its human like motion conventional controls simply won’t cut it. The pilots have what you call an external spinal cord, which like the name implies is a metallic outer spine embedded on top of their actual spines. Micro needles embedded in their spines intercept brain signals and send it to the controlling unit via a neural link cable attached to the external spine. Thus the pilots move the machine as if they one with it the downside being that they are completely immobilized inside the cockpit.
“I can see why the media slammed the Military back at home” Doctor Susan said disapprovingly. “It looks like we’re preparing to take over this world with us carrying this much fire power” Professor Leia chimed in; concern was evident in her voice.
“While I understand where you are coming from we really don’t have a choice. With the threat of those demons, among other things, the safety of the Earth is still top priority.” General Nikolai retorted. “Plus if we truly were trying to conquer this world the early scouting teams would have been issued class 5 exoskeletons instead of the measly class 2s they were wearing. They would have also have been issued combat assist drones, clearance level 4 armaments, and HAE support. We were very lenient to be honest” General Nikolai let out a hearty but dark laugh.

At the same time a smug, satisfied smile can be seen from Engr. Yamato when the general described their military hardware.
“I know it’s great and all to revel in your military might, but have you secured a meeting with the King of Aleria was it? You do realize that my whole purpose here is to secure and finalize the diplomatic agreements” Nelson interjected.
“Ah, fret not Mr. Ambassador, as a matter of fact we have sent out a carrier pigeon hours before our arrival. It should have reached the Capital by now since it’s a magical carrier pigeon that can move at really high speeds”
Nelson wanted to berate the General for using a carrier pigeon before learning that it was a special kind. Upon hearing this, the eccentric biologist rushed in front and immediately grabbed General Nikola’s attention with another passionate outburst much to the dismay of everyone. Karl’s eyes would have rolled into the inside of his skull if this continued any further. The General then promised to let him see the pigeons later after the second briefing over.
They were then lead to their living quarters. It looked like a 3 story apartment complex with numbered metal doors. The doors have facial recognition and will only open for their inhabitants unless manually opened from the inside, thus the need for keys were eliminated. The rooms were quite frankly very small only containing a bedroom and a shower. Their luggage has been delivered into their rooms in advanced, but they still have to unpack it themselves. They were given 30 minutes to unpack and after that they will be going to the mess hall for lunch. The second briefing will begin 30 minutes after lunch which is approximately 2:30 pm.
Unfortunately the meeting was delayed because Steven wandered around too much so the meeting began at 2:45. You can imagine the irritation building up inside Nelson at this point. They were then lead to a spacious conference hall with another 3D projector in the middle. When the Projector whirled to life the second briefing officially began.
With the aid of the projector, the General then everything they knew about the Nelithea. Fort Spearhead was located at what the locals called the endless grasslands. The kingdom of Aleria is located north west of the grasslands; this is the Kingdom they have made the most contact with. Aside from Aleria there are two other human factions in this world, the empire of Naztec which is located north of Aleria, and the Merchant kingdom of Henice located at an archipelago east of Naztec and Aleria. Henice Merchants are commonly seen trading in Larien village, while there was absolutely no contact made with the Naztec Empire. Apparently there’s a sort of cold war happening between Aleria and Naztec.

Moving on from the human factions, the general revealed that the existence of an Elven empire in the far North. Like Naztec no contact has been made with them and locals say that the Elven empire, known as the Finalian Empire, closed themselves off for thousands of years . The Finalian empire despite being known as an Elven empire is actually a composed of three races, High Elves, Dark Elves, and Dwarves. Nothing else is known about their society. The Elves and Dwarves wandering about the land were apparently cast out of the Finalian empire long ago and have made their homes in the human kingdoms.
Below the Finalian Empire, is the Orc warlands. Unlike the other races Orcs don not have a civilized society so to speak. They are made up of multiple warring tribes vying for supremacy of the other. They are mostly hostile but they do value strength. Aside from a few Skirmishes here and there, not much contact has been made with them.
Directly west of the Endless grasslands is the Mystic forest, a large uninhabited forest that occupies land the size of a kingdom. Locals say that many mystical creatures live here, but the most prominent feature of this forest is its monstrous inhabitants. Fantastical monsters inhabit this area and for the most part, are the prey of Adventurers looking for Glory. Sometimes these monsters wander out of the forest and terrorize human towns.
Stretching from the north west of the Lunarian Empire down to the south west corner of the orc warlands, is the forbidden mountain range. It is said that ancient slumbering dragons inhabit this area. Aside from that not much is known about the mountain range as anyone who was foolish enough to enter never came back.
Finally in the far west is the demon infested lands. This is a complete unknown to everyone, even the locals. All they know is that demons inhabited this large area of the continent for millennia and have always tried to attack civilization.
This is all they knew about the known world, sadly nothing is known about the lands beyond the sea.
One other special topic was the existence of an Adventurer’s guild. It was a continent wide organization independent of the Kingdoms. They have facilities spread across the civilized world. It was established long ago by power warriors of old who didn’t want their powers to be used by one Kingdom, thus unless absolutely necessary, the Adventures will not side with anyone. A powerful warrior, known as the Hero of humanity, also existed. But no contact was ever made with him as he was always looking for things to fight in order to increase his glory. It was also known that the hero, was an arrogant prick.
The meeting went on for five hours straight with everyone surprisingly attentive and cooperative, even Steven. After the meeting they all went back to the mess hall to have their dinner. The general also said that tomorrow will be a free day and they are free to explore the complex and even visit Larien, under supervision of course.
As the Ambassadors were being escorted to their living quarters, a soldier informed that the Alerian Kingdom has issued their reply. The meeting that will determine their futures was drawing near.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
