“Dad we’re a week’s away from landing on Mars! I can’t believe that living facilities have been made on it already!”
“Settle down boy, you’re still one week away from there don’t get too excited. Remember to not cause any trouble for anyone there. I pulled a lot of special favors just to get you to visit the place.”
“Don’t worry about him dear, I am here to keep an eye on him so that things don’t go too bad.”
“I am so sorry Agatha, if it wasn’t for this urgent meeting over that CERN incident I would have joined you for this trip.”
“No fair Dad! You get to see a whole new fantastical world without us!”
“And you’re going to Mars are you not?”
“Well I guess, but still that’s a fantasy world, I’m kinda jealous”
“It’s okay dear I know your work is very important. Just don’t make a mess of the house while I’m gone okay.”
“We love yo-”

An old man with greyish thick hair and well-trimmed beard was rudely awakened from his slumber by his own dreams. He has been having this same dream for two years without fail. It’s like a shadow that followed him everywhere he went. He rubbed his eyes and inspected the place he was in. He remembered that he was on a private plane on its way to the “special area”. This special area will be his new home for quite a while due to his new job.
Truth be told he didn’t really know why he accepted such a troublesome task. The ones who gave it to him simply told him he was the best suited for the job, after all he did work as the special relations officer for the revamped UN. He was used to dealing with different kinds of people and knew how to deal with them accordingly. To be exact he had 25 years worth of experience on this job. Yet this new task is on a whole new field. He was tasked of being the ambassador of earth to the new world.

He can only sigh inwardly whenever he remembers just what kind of daunting struggle he got himself into. Sure he studied the language and general culture of the people on the other side, but still all those years of experience might not amount to anything in this new world. Yet he still accepted this job, simply to run away.
“Do you need anything sir?” An attendant asked as she passed by his seat.
“Oh just some water please, my throat feels dry after waking up.”
Suddenly a ping can be heard inside the cabin
“This is your captain speaking we are clear for landing on the special area. All crew and passengers please fasten your seatbelts.”
After a few more minutes he arrived at his destination, France, home of the Large Hadron collider (half of it at least). A few years ago he never dreamed of ever being near it seeing as he really didn’t care for science that much, but times have changed. The area was completely converted into a large military installation following the events of the wormhole creation and discovery of the new world. The installation serves to keep things from their world to get in, and to keep a few foolish people to enter theirs.
After landing he was immediately greeted by an intimidating elderly man with a bald and shiny head. This man is the officer in charge of the military facility, General Nikolai Sokolov. He is the current commander of the Joint exploration army, a special task force created by the UN to investigate the new world.
The man immediately walked up to him and stretched his left hand initiating a hand shake
“Welcome to the special area ambassador Sutherland!” The general exclaimed as they shook hands.
“You can just call me Nelson general,” The old man replied with a stern smile.

“Sorry for keeping you a little too long in the air, verifying the flight took a little too much time. After all we can never be too carefu,l” the general apologetically said.
“No worries, It simply gave me some much needed shut eye” Nelson replied with a dry laugh.
“I see, you must have been working really hard on preparing for this absurd task,” Said the general with eyes that had a hint of pity.
“Anyway welcome to Fort New World, boring name yeah but this was made in a hurry so we really didn’t have time to think of a better name.”
“It’s not like the name is important,” Nelson said to himself, he was actually impressed that they were even able to create this huge fortress in a few short years. Talk about a quick response.
The general then lead him to a black car they had to ride in order to reach the area housing the wormhole.
“For the next few years you will be living on the other side accompanied a by a team of different professionals. Hopefully you get along with them, I have read their files and they seem a bit “eccentric”.” The general once again had an apologetic look on his face. Judging on his behaviour it really seemed he had troublesome company.
The new world not only attracted fantasy nerds, it mainly attracted the eyes of science. Not only did this whole new world boasted unique flora and fauna, it also housed very peculiar minerals and ores. But the thing that attracted scientists the most is the discovery of a game changer. Magic existed in that world. Naturally the collective minds of scientists went into overdrive upon the discovery of this new and mysterious force.
“Magic huh, I wish this world had magic as well,” Nelson said to himself as he looked outside the window of the car basking himself in the view of the world he lived in.
He took a good long look so that he may not forget what this world looked like, which was weird he thought to himself, because at the same time he also wanted to forget this world.
“Humans are quite contradictory,” he said to himself as they approached the facility.
