《Philippine Lore》BK1; Chapter 31: [ The Inheritance again!! ]

Looking at the global notification in front of him, Rain couldn’t help but cursed Leyla nonstop. He was planning to go low-key but this damn woman ruined it all…
Wait a moment, Leyla is not a player so does it mean this is also the effect of [ Eternal Bond of Union ]? Don’t tell me she can also see a notification window now? Well duh, she could choose ‘NO’ for him after all…
Hmm…
Just as Rain was immersed on his thoughts,
“Hey, I know that it was you~”
Suddenly a cheerful voice called out behind him. Surprised, Rain couldn’t help but jump away instinctively from his position and quickly made his fighting stance upon landing on the ground.
But Rain’s expression quickly turned shock with some bewilderment as he verified the owner of the voice.
“Wh-Why are you here?”
The AI which he had met when he was creating his game account smiled while looking at him.
“Why are you asking something like that? Did you already forget?”
“Forgot what?”
“Haa~ What a stupid hero. Of course it’s your [ Inheritance ].”
“Ah!” Now that Rain thinks about it, she did say that he will get one after every five levels. So it means it’s time for that roulette again…?
Just thinking about make Rain’s blood boils in anticipation!
“…But I never thought that it would really be you. You are really one of a kind, Lagim.” The AI smiled brightly. However, it’s only for a brief moment because her smile suddenly turned stiff.
Her eyes looked at Rain’s body as if she was examining it, then with a grave voice she spoke to him angrily: “You are marked!?”
Hearing her raising her voice as if she was scolding him made him scared out of his wits. “I…”
What did I do? Rain asked inwardly. His back shedding cold sweats.
“Who marked you!? Answer me!” The Ai angrily grabbed Rain’s collar and shook him. “This aura, don’t tell me! Is it a monster?! You are marked by a monster aren’t you!!”
“Th-That is…” Right now for some reason he doesn’t understand, Rain wanted to cry!
“Leniency for those who confess, severity for those who resist. Understand?”
Seeing her death glare and feeling the ‘Say a lie and I’ll debone you’ expression, Rain didn’t know what to think about this sudden development. Just what is happening here?
“Y-Yeah…”
“What kind of monster did it?” The AI slowly let go of Rain’s collar. She then looked at him while gritting her teeth.

“It’s me. What are you going to do about it?”
However, before Rain could answer a feminine voice rang out. The tone of voice was gentle but held some provocation.
Out of nowhere, Leyla’s figure appeared from the bushes. She was wearing a smile as she slowly walked towards Rain’s location.
“An [ Anggitay ]…”
“That is right, servant of the Gods. So can you take off your hoof from my husband~”
“Husband? Haha, I’m impressed, a monster like you knows some quite difficult words. However, it seems like you don’t know its meaning.” The AI’s voice was filled with mockery.
“Hoo~ you don’t need to worry about it because I know full well the definition of that word. And that man is none other than my husband…” Leyla caught the AI’s gaze and smiled fearlessly.
Rain simply looked to the distance while shedding beads of cold sweat. Looking at Leyla and the AI talking, he couldn’t help but feel scared.
What’s wrong with this game?
Just why did they put so much realism into it and even to the point of giving the NPC’s and AI such unique characters? This is really scary no matter how you look at it.
Cannot win against Leyla in argument, the AI’s deathly glare once again turned towards Rain who was keeping quiet all this time.
“You! How long do you think you are playing?! Huh? It doesn’t even reach for a full month in your world’s time and yet, you had already made an eternal contract! And in addition you did it with a monster! Is it that! You like monsters! Are you a maniac?!”
“T-T-This isn’t what it looks like! This is a m-m-misunderstanding just let me explain!!”
“Don’t worry~ I’m sure I’m not misunderstanding~ I’m just a little angry~~”
A little angry? You call that little?!
“I, I can’t do anything. She’s just too strong how do you think I could beat her?!”
The AI suddenly paused after hearing what Rain said. She then turned her gaze back to Leyla who seemed to be displeased. Though she didn’t do anything nor corrected him.
“Do you mean she forced you?”
“Y-Yeah…”
“I see.” After hearing Rain’s confirmation, the AI’s atmosphere somewhat soften.
“However, even if I know that I don’t have the ability to undo the contract…”
“Y-You mean the contract can be undone?” Rain asked curiously which earned a death glare from Leyla.

“Of course not.” Leyla answered with a displeased expression. “This is an eternal contract, and so you and I will always be together even after death!”
“E-even after death?!”
“That’s right. We are already bound together by one shared fate. Hence, you won’t be able to separate from me~
Bound together by one shared fate. Perhaps indeed that was the case.
“Yeah, that’s true. Although I don’t know where did this ugly monster learn the eternal contract… This kind of contract should have been lost a long time ago. Even the Gods couldn’t remember how to do it, much less for a mere monster.” The AI shot a reproachful gaze towards Leyla.
Feeling proud, Leyla shrugged her shoulders happily. “I have some means; however you don’t need to worry about it because I don’t think many monsters have the capability to do it. What I have is one time use only so you can go report to your master that this wouldn’t happen again~”
“Tsk!” The AI cursed inwardly. “Anyway, what are you trying to do?”
“Nothing~”
“Don’t lie to me monster. Do you think that I can’t kill you because of this damn duty? If you ever touch my bottom line, I will make sure to rip you apart in many pieces.”
Ai’s mood suddenly turns dangerous. Her eyes glowing red as she stared at Leyla with an angry expression.
“I’ll keep that in mind. But you really don’t need to worry because I don’t have any ulterior motives. I claimed him because I want him, that’s all~”
“Do you think I’m dumb to trust a monster like you?”
“Even if you are, nothing will change.” Leyla shot a meaningful smile. “Besides, do you think that you can kill me? If I die, Rain will also die, even if not he will still suffer the curse… forever”
“Damn it! Is this what you wanted?”
“Think what you want to think, you are free to do so. However, what I want to say is that, servant of Gods, your battle against Master Sitan, I don’t want to partake in it. All I want is Rain, that’s all~”
The AI glared at her and didn’t say anything anymore. She then turned around and walked towards Rain who was standing like a child who had done wrong and was waiting for his mommy to scold him.
“It’s fine, Lagim… this is not your fault.” Seeing Rain’s flustered behavior, the AI somehow felt sympathy causing her displeasure to disappear in an instant.
“…however, haa~ I understand. You really didn’t follow any of my instructions at all.”
“Ehh!? No, about that…”
What do you mean by instructions? You didn’t give me any at all!!!!
—Though if I say that, I don’t think I’ll be able to keep my head…
“… I’m sorry.”
“Haa~ It’s fine…”
Anyway, some events, once started…
… Can’t be stopped no matter what…
—And this is one of those.
“Th-thank you and s-sorry… though I don’t know why but I’m really sorry.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. Actually, you’re a victim here, and that ugly monster is the one and only criminal. Anyway, let us proceed with the [ Inheritance ]. Who do you want this time?”
“Ahm…” Rain fell into a deep thought.
He had already chosen the Hero Aliguyon first so now, he wanted to choose another. Though who would he choose…
Alunsina the virgin goddess of the eastern skies!
Dumalapdap; A demi-god and his beloved wife and the goddess of the night breeze; Lubay Lubyok Mahanginun si Mahuyokhuyokan!
Or maybe the Hero Aliguyon’s last inheritance?
Who should he choose next?
“Take your time, ah right! How about I give you some advice~”
“Advice?”
“Hm,” Seeing that Rain was sincerely listening, the AI’s mouth corner slightly turned upwards.
“”From what I can see, you should choose the goddess; Lubay Lubyok Mahanginun si Mahuyokhuyokan.”
“Why?”
“You are a mage and currently your fire magic is the greatest out of the elemental magic. Fire magic is indeed the most powerful in terms of firepower but you also need to improve your other elemental affinities such as water, wind and earth.”
Fire magic is certainly strong offensively. It possesses fierce firepower and can deal tremendous damage. But water has healing properties which can be more useful in support.
While wind gives the individual free movements and actions, gives various support or deal heavy damages. And lastly, Earth is heavy and truly powerful, gives best defense support but it’s slow.
These are the four basic elemental magic.
“And in order for you to improve your wind magic, I think the goddess Lubay Lubyok is your best choice…”

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
