《Philippine Lore》BK1; Chapter 5: [ The First Encounter ]

When Rain noticed, he was already in the outskirts of some forest.
Looking at his surroundings, Rain noticed that behind him there were only trees standing side by side, and at front an extremely vast forest.
This is… the game world?
Rain had an astonished look on his face.
Rather than saying this was a game world, this world seemed like a real world.
The smell of the air, the light breeze, the touch of the rough ground … all of this seemed life-like!
He was surrounded by trees, plants mountains and forest. Is this really a game world? Is this game really the work of a human? Such thought came to Rain as he watches his surrounding in amazement.
It felt like reality, but wasn’t really a reality which made the situation all the more difficult to believe.
This is amazing! I know this is a virtual reality, but I can’t believe it’s a game.
Computer games used to be solely based on online games; meaning can only be experienced by watching the computer screens. But now …
Now I understand why people especially gamers are so excited to play this game.
This is a different world, this place.
Ah, now is not the time to be doing this.
Rain, who had his mouth wide open, wiped his drool.
Okay! Let’s do this!
First of all, let’s check the Items I have.
Items 3 Gold
[ Camping Set ]
Normal leather Clothes, Boots, Knife
Current garments are a gray hooded leather clothes and jeans, footwear are black colored boots.
The clothes are a bit stiff but the fabric is strong. It had a primeval era design. The boots look pretty ordinary. But the size fits perfectly. It’s described as Normal Clothes, so maybe they won’t stand out in town.
The Camping Set has a water canteen which was refilled with water magic to quench his thirst. After checking his things, he was finally able to calm down.
After checking the things he currently had, Rain proceeded to move his body. Although he was just connected to this world by that metallic helmet, he actually felt as if he was actually moving.
What’s more, he noticed that his movement is far lighter compared to his real body in real world.
Amazing!
Done checking, Rain the investigated the system window.
“Status.”

Hm? What’s this?

Seeing the strange skill, Rain couldn’t help but feel bewildered.
Hyper Intuition ( Passive )
A unique innate ability sleeping on the user’s blood. It was accidentally awakened by some unknown reason. You can’t upgrade nor assigned skill points for this skill.
Oh? Is it some kind of Bonus skill or something?
Rain was excited and felt as if he just won a jackpot.
But what is this [ --- ]? Is it a bug or something? Oh well, maybe it’s just really a bug…
“Fu~ Amazing. I never thought that it would be so beautiful. Anyway, for now; let’s take a look around this place.”
Though he roughly understood everything from the information he had gathered so far, in the end, it was only some general knowledge. From now on, he wanted to see with his own eyes to make sure.
“Games are the conscious simulations that give our young children (animals and human) the ability to soar” – Plato
And just like what Plato said, now would be his time to soar!
--- ---
Exiting the large tree, Rain saw an animal trail. As expected from a forest, it was a lush and dense forest.
Fortunately, sunlight still streamed through and he could still see clearly.
But I never thought that I would be sent directly inside a forest. Usually, players would start inside a town or a city
and take some quest … but who would expect that this game would be so sadistic.
As a game which boast 99.5% realism, this game focuses on the player’s survival skills. And thus, there’s no beginner town where players could slowly level themselves up and begin in a safe start. In this game, you will be the one to find the city…
Inside of the forest, the air was clear and nicely warm.
When Rain tried scouting the area, there wasn’t anything that could really be considered an obstacle.
Really, what a dense forest. I can't even feel heat around here, so it wouldn’t be weird if anything popped up.
In an environment like that, Rain held the knife in one hand as he started the first day of his survival life in this new game.
However, this is what adventure really means!
So with that type of self-assured attitude, Rain ventured deeper into the forest.
His game life had just begun.
--- ---
The first action he took was to take care of the necessities to sustain a human lifestyle. The highest priority was placed on securing food.
To his luck, he once opened a website about plants and animals in the internet. There was a list of various edible plants there.

As Rain remembered this, he began using that info to its fullest, and he carefully perused the various plants growing at his feet as he proceeded forward.
He wandered deeper into the forest. Looking for anything he can use while feeling vigilant for monsters or dangers lurking around him.
While he wasn’t that far from the edge ( rather, he was still at shouting distance from the place he first started ), he still had to stop and pause for a minute.
At the current generation, forest and wildlife such as this had already become scarce. Tall buildings, cemented streets, golf courses, parks these things appeared one after another as the technology became even more advanced.
It should be wonderful, wasn’t it?
However, with the technology advancing at incredible speed, Mother Nature was also infected. Forest and mountains, wild life and nature, these things reduced into a pitiful state.
Mother Nature got the end of the stick. You can even say that she was slowly dying.
But even if we had realized the cause … can we change something? Can we stop the rapid advancement of technology?
The answer … No!
That is why the vast forest and beautiful mountains such as this had become scarce in the real Philippines.
Because of this, Rain couldn’t help but stop every now and then to marvel. He couldn’t help but to appreciate the wildlife in front of him.
Here and now, amidst all its glory, Rain couldn’t help but more or less understand the fervor some wildlife enthusiasts had.
Tall coconut trees can be found from time to time. There were also big acacia trees and tall bamboos. The sound of cicada hissing and the gentle breeze that sways from time to time.
Although the bugs were pesky and the humidity of the forest irritated him sometimes, at least the scenery was something pleasant to the eyes.
As he ventured further, taking in the environment, his attention was eventually taken by the wildlife. He took in his surroundings, momentarily forgetting about the fact that he was inside the game, the task of collecting food and especially … he was inside a dangerous forest.
The forest was immense to say the least. It was huge beyond comparison. From up close, Rain could completely appreciate their size. The trunks of the trees were thick and wider than the arm span of two grown men. It was also covered in thick, rigid bark colored in a murky shade of brown.
The coconut trees were very tall, as if they were touching the heavens.
Rain tried touching some of the bark and felt its rough surface press against the skin of his finger.
Really, if he didn’t know, he would really think that this was a real world.
Rain continued observing the forest. The duff layer, which contained dead branches and leaves, was rather dark.
Aside from the fact that the ground was originally a layer of brown covered in more brown, a large reason for its darkness was the dimness of the whole forest.
This was most likely due to the shade created by the canopies above. They denied all entry of sunlight, keeping the forest dark.
Although they failed to do anything substantial to the humidity.
As Rain surveyed the surroundings enthusiastically, a cute white ball-like animal with long ears appeared in front of him.
A rabbit.
Yeah, it was a pure white rabbit with red eyes.
So this game world’s rabbits came in such cute shapes?
The pure white rabbit swayed its long ears, widened its crimson-colored pupils and watched Rain who was in front of it.
As if curious, it then tried to get slightly closer to him but was suddenly frightened by Rain’s movements.
Immediately, it hurriedly shrank back, curling up its body. The blood red eyes actually carried an extremely pitiful look as the cute rabbit eyed Rain.
“C, Cute ...”
With a stiffened body, Rain stared at the small white rabbit in front of him that appeared totally harmless.
He did not dare make the slightest move. Swallowing his saliva, he asked blankly in his heart, “I, I thought that there’s no normal animals in this world anymore… but… but what about this cute rabbit?”
The white rabbit’s body was covered with fluffy looking white fur and its crimson eyes had a faint bewitching feeling.
The small fur ball did not appear to be vicious looking but it was beautiful to a ridiculous extent. This kind of beautiful living creature may well cause many ladies to forget about their selves and immediately hugged this cute animal.
“H, Hello.”
The small rabbit did not make the slightest response to Rain’s cry. It simply blinked its ruby like pupils, swayed its body and gradually swam over to Rain.
Seeing its action, Rain could only remain on the spot quietly while his heart felt jittery.
However,
When the small rabbit was almost two meters away from him, its body suddenly shined a golden light and then …
Boom!
Lightning came out from its shining body and suddenly flew towards Rain.
Danger!
When he noticed it, Rain immediately jumped aside with all his might.
The place where he was just at a moment ago exploded like a cannonball had just struck it. It gouged out the ground as it detonated.

The Normal Dungeon Core: Lethe
Just a normal, standard, no extra frills or gills, dungeon core LitRPG novel in a fantastical world. And as usual, a system exists! Prologue: You know all those stories about reincarnation? Where our beloved (or hated) protagonists are transferred to a new world to conquer, defeat the demon lord, rescue the princess. or are made into mythical gems of power with control over Monsters and Men (psst..a dungeon core)? Where they get a cheat-like ability, are special, granted privileges, or have knowledge from another world? Well, I read about them too in my spare time before I came here. At least, I think I did. Now, you might be asking, where is 'here' ? To answer your somewhat specific, yet vague, question my dear audience...I don't know! But what I do know is that...well nothing other than I had a past life...I think... Anyway...You are correct in assuming that I was indeed reincarnated into a dungeon core! But... ..I have no idea who I was. ...I don't seem to have any special powers or skills or cheats. ....And I was specifically told by Mr. S that I am not, and never will be, "special." Now, if you are confused, then I'm doing a great job, because you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, I haven't given you a background story, or taken you through the last few hours of my new existence. We will get to that! I promise! The main reason I am telling you this absurd and completely delusional preface, is to introduce to you the idea that I, as in me, the new dungeon core, am not "special".............. With that out of the way, how about we rewind time a bit to when I...developed my consciousness? Yes? Great! Lets goooooo! ---------

NPC
Erin longed for adventure, Maya new better. Erin wanted to be a Hero, Maya would never trust them. Maya also knew a simple truth; Erin could never be a Hero. So, Maya smiled and hugged Erin when she spoke of her dreams with such boundless enthusiasm. They were best friends, and best friends did not shatter each other’s dreams. Heroes have arrived in Cairn village, one of which is Aiden; a 20-year-old-runaway who's just excited to play a super awesome VRMMORPG and maybe rekindle the eternal war without thinking... I added the tramtising tag since the whole demon lord thing isn't entirely moral and I guess that's what that tag means, better safe than sorry I guess. This is a rewrite and I still do small edits on earlier chapters for grammar and style every now and then so let me know any critiques you have or even if you just think something is stupid. The whole point of writing this is so I can improve while (hopefully) entertaining some people. My update schedule can be erratic but I will finish this eventually. Eventually being in a few years... I decided to take a break from this while I finish a separate project sorry about that. There are also puppy pictures...you have been warned.
