《Fighting for the Lord of Earth》Chapter 39 - Tour Guide Beyyele

Despite her penchant to get violent at the drop of a hat, Beyyele turned out to be a great tour guide. She loved to show all the great spots where you could get designer clothes, visit the cute and cuddly creatures of the Park, view the sites, and also have a romantic dinner with a loved one.

Well, she would make a great tour guide Kohn had to admit, if she didn’t focus solely on having a romantic moment with the old Armorer. When Kohn or the other men asked a question her neck would snap in their direction and she’d glare at them so hard they stuttered into silence.

“Why are you even here?” She asked them when they didn’t care to see romantic spots. When Kohn and the others asked about the stores Beyyele tried to lose them. “Why don’t you go take a look? I’m sure there’s something you’d like.” She’d say each and every time before pulling the Armorer around the corner.

Luckily Kohn always seemed to be able to spot the pair from a mile away so they’d quickly rejoin them. Oliver, the Earthling on a fast track to becoming a member of the Winged Order, had to ask him what his secret was. Of course, because it was Kohn the answer always disappointed them.

“What do you mean? Just look for a couple with an exceptionally happy, but violent girl, and a nervous, worried fellow.” When he put it that way they all thought it was obvious but none of them besides Kohn was able to understand the trick to it.

When they pulled up chairs around a table set only for two Beyyele adjusted her plans. She took them all to the Park.

The Park was not what it was actually called, but since all of the Earthlings have never tried to learn the Kingdom’s language they were dependent upon their Brace of Words’ translations. But it did worry them when they went to one of the capital’s more stout towers and they heard massive screams and roars of animals when they passed through the threshold.

“EEE! They’re so cute!” Beyyele squealed out in delight, prancing in place. The Armorer was shaken so much he became confused so when she asked him questions he automatically answered them.

“Don’t you love that one? Wouldn’t it be great for a wedding present?”

“Yes, it’s nice.”

“What about that one? It’s so fluffy we could cuddle up on it on our wedding night.”

“Sounds great.”

“Oh, they don’t have the one I wanted to see this time. I’ll have to ask father for one.”

“I’m sure he’d get you it.”

Kohn and the others were scared stiff by the enormous monsters calmly walking around, not in cages. Some of them were so big that a full three humans could disappear in a single gulp. And they were slightly paralyzed when Beyyele talked about cuddling up on what they could only describe as a furry praying mantis-bat hybrid that clung to the side of the wall. And the Armorer kept being getting his brains rattled so much that he agreed with whatever she said, not even noticing the bit about a wedding!

Kohn was sure he saw it swallow when they passed by underneath it. Sarah was hiding behind Kohn and Oliver as if she could shove them directly in its mouth to buy her a few seconds to escape.

“Beyyele!” A small flamboyant boy called out to her when he saw her. Swiftly he walked over to hold both of her hands in his.

“Huh? Oh Fermon!”

“Girl, it has been too long. Unn! Look at yourself all grown up, all sexy and pretty! Just where have you been holing yourself up at, girl?”

“I was out of the capital for a little while, touring the Kingdom. Putting down a little bit of the old fiery uprising if you know what I mean.”

“Amazing!”

“Fantastic.” She replied and they both had a blushing laugh at their little inside joke. “You didn’t get the one I wanted.”

“Oh girl, don’t you worry about it. I got exactly what you wanted.”

“But I don’t see it. Is it somewhere else?”

“Oh, you’ll be so amazed when you notice it.”

“What? It’s actually here?”

“Mmm-hmm.” He whistled loudly and gigantic, long, limbless furry Ermine looking monster suddenly appeared on the wall above the bat-mantis thing.

When it felt a presence behind it, the bat-mantis looked up and locked eyes with the massive Ermine. Beyyele gave out a squeal of delight when she saw it. Her hands clasped together over her heart and her eyes shined with lovely tears of joy.

They both stared at each other before Beyyele’s squeal broke freeze-frame moment. Awoken out of its staring contest, the bat-mantis startled the limbless Ermine with phlegm coughing screech. Comically the furry thing flopped around on the wall before falling on top of the bat-mantis, making them both crash to the ground with a loud bang.

The noise startled the other monsters around, sending them into a stampede towards the opposite wall. Beyyele, Fermon and the Armorer just stood still as the animals split like a river around them. The other Earthlings noticed and took shelter behind them, but Kohn wasn’t paying attention.

“AHHHHHHHH!” He screamed at the top of his lungs as he dodged the massive feet, sharp teeth and pointed spikes of various animals.

“Boy! What? Are? You? Doing?” The Armorer called out to him as he jumped around like an idiot as he tried to avoid death.

When Kohn noticed they were all standing still as the animals moved around them he thought it would work with him too. So he stopped dodging and without a shred of evidence calmly walked towards them.

Kohn didn’t even manage to put a single foot down before a six-legged horned lizard rammed into him at full force. Its two horns went around his waist perfectly and its head scooped him up and it carried him off with the rest of the stampede.

“SAVE ME!” He called out to the party, but as the monsters were making a lot of noise and quickly moving away his cry for help quickly faded.

The Armorer shook his head in disappointment while the other Earthlings shed a tear for his passing. Fermon calmly asked Beyyele, “Was he a friend of yours?”

“What was?”

“That guy that got dragged off? He was kind of handsome.”

“I didn’t see anyone get dragged off. I only saw a herd of beasts that ran off.”

The others instantly feared that they too would become ‘beasts that ran off’ at some point. They had after all, irritated her slightly less than Kohn did.

“If you don’t know him then maybe I will go and rescue him and make him part of my herd.”

“See if I care. Hop to it then.”

“Yes Princess!” Fermon called out merrily before skipping after the stampede. He creepily sang a song about two men and something called a Royal Bend as he left them behind.

“Kohn just has the most rotten luck…”
