《Fighting for the Lord of Earth》Chapter 38 - Ouch, that had to hurt

“Beyyele, I’ve told you many times. Don’t attack people at random!”

“It wasn’t random. He laughed at me!”

“That isn’t a reason to do that!”

“Ughn.” Kohn painfully woke up. “What happened?”

Sasha was gently holding him still. “Try not to move. You may have broken your neck.”

“What? How could I have broken my neck?” But as reality slowly set in he noticed that Sasha was upside down. “Why are you upside down?”

“I’m not.” She giggled back at him. “You are you big silly.”

Despite her attempts at trying to hold him still, John looked around the room. “Indeed.” He thought to himself when he saw a table with scraps of food on the ceiling.

When he had been hit from Beyyele’s staff his unconscious body went spread eagle as he sailed through the air. Luckily, one of his legs had got caught on a chandelier and prevented him from slamming full force into the wall, but the noise he made still worried everyone. It was a seemingly bone-crunching noise that sent shivers down the Earthling’s spines.

“Sasha?”

“Yeah Kohn?” The way she spoke to him made him feel like she was addressing a dying patient.

“Could you get me down from here? The blood is rushing to my head.”

A groaning noise came from above, just before a piece of the chandelier snapped and deposited him gently into a pile on the ground.

“Ow…”

The ex-prince and his sister were still having a heated argument in the center of the room. When Beyyele saw him on the ground she took that to seem like everything was fine.

“Look, see? He’s on the ground now. Happy?”

“Not even close!” The ex-prince shouted angrily.

“Then what do you want me to do about it?!”

“Apologize!”

“To him? Why?” She was confused by her brother’s incessant demands. Almost like it never crossed her mind that she was wrong for attacking Kohn.

“Because you attacked him for no reason and you could have killed him!” He roared back.

These two were in their own little arguing world together. No one could get a voice in edge wise, and the Earthlings were too afraid to be hit like Kohn so they were quiet. He might have been able to take the hit, but they sure couldn’t. He had a suit of armor while most of them had a more formal set of regular clothes.

Kohn, cautiously stretched out his body, glad that he didn’t have any broken bones. Though the impact to his brain made the room spin too much for him to be moving around just yet.

“If I attacked him it was for a good reason. Maybe he’s a criminal?”

“WHAT!?” He responded on instinct, his voice going up two pitches. “That doesn’t even… you know what? It doesn’t matter, apologize or make it up to him.”

“I’m not apologizing.”

“I don’t care! Then just make it up to him?”

“How? I’m not doing anything personal with him! I still haven’t done those things with my husband yet.”

“Not even what I was referring to! Why don’t you take him out for the day?”

“Take him out?”

“Yeah, I’m confined to these rooms, though with the door like that I’ll probably be moved soon. So go in my stead. Guide the Earthlings around the capital. Show them what it means to be a part of the Kingdom and what sort of benefits they can expect to help their planet. Maybe take them to the Park or something?” When the ex-prince noticed that his sister wasn’t very enthusiastic about walking around with a bunch of people she didn’t know, he changed gears slightly. “And at the same time, you can have an outing with your… husband.” Internally he was apologizing with the Armorer, refusing to meet his eyes which accused him of betrayal.

When she heard that she could also take the Armorer with her and treat it almost as a private outing she was suddenly thrilled with the idea. Her hooves were silent as she bounced left and right towards the Armorer. He was originally standing behind Kohn, but when he saw her excitedly bouncing ever closer to him he hastily backed up until he hit the wall. The young deer-woman Beyyele batted her eyelashes at him.

“Doesn’t that sound like a great idea husband? We can go out together, share a meal, tour the Park, have a private moment under the trees…” She kept listing a large assortment of activities for them to do in a merrily voice. But her mood soured when her Brother butted in.

“Don’t forget to take the Earthlings with you.”

Rolling her eyes she shot a dangerous glare at her brother. “Yes. Yes. We’ll carry the Pip’s with us. Maybe we’ll feed them some seed when we get to the Park.”

Kohn was feeling a little brave. “What am I to you? Some kind of pet?”

She turned her back to Kohn, giving the Armorer a lover’s gaze. But it was an icy gaze with a deathly amount of irritation.

Just as Kohn was feeling up to it, he started to stand. Only to be launched out of the room when a slender hoof hit him full in the back. He sailed for almost twenty feet before his face smeared across the floor as his legs stayed up in the air. Losing against the friction his face stuck to the floor as the rest of his body bent over his head. With a loud bang his armored body struck the ground.

Beyyele cheerily hooked her arm around the Armorer’s and gave out an excited “Onward to our first Outing!”

From out in the hallway they could hear Kohn.

“Why am I getting hurt so much today? It’s supposed to be like a vacation. See the King, enjoy the sites, meet some new people, but I just keep getting hurt!”
