The Feral soon collided with the stampede of Devourers, at this time the rest of the Ferals had yet to arrive to Owen. As the Devourers were closer, Owen ran straight after the Feral he threw for cover. A loud crash was heard as the Feral hit a few Devourers. The first deer like beast to be hit was slammed by the heavy hard body of the Feral, falling over without any ability to take on the collision. As the deer fell, the Devourers behind it also fell.

‘Chance!’

Owen swung the sash down immediately as he saw the tumbling monsters in front of him. His face wore no expression, but deep inside there was an excitement that could only be felt in a near death situation. And right now the battle was at it’s peak, it would definitely cause anyone to become a nervous wreck. As for Owen? He was the type who would stare death in the eyes if he could. But maybe it was because he didn’t have the ability to use those eyes, that he was able to approach death so fearlessly. A disability can never be treated the same for everyone, just like an ability to some would be useless.

Owen was naturally smart, he took everything seriously and thought out his decisions thoroughly. Even if he regretted it afterwards, he would carry through to the end. That was how determined he was to get the Awakened Cinder. If he died, it was the end. If he lived, his Path would continue. And this sheer resolve was shown as he swung the sash straight onto the body of the deer like Devourer. The Little Light Rock without fail accelerated as it arrived infinitely close to the deer’s body.

The body of the deer collapsed inwards, as even with its tough hide wasn’t able to stop the combination of the sash and rock for even a second. As the body was crushed between the ground and the rock, a crater instantly formed. The shattered dirt turned into dust particles, scattering it around. It wasn’t enough to affect visibility, but the dust definitely caused the breathing of the living to become heavier. That was with the exception of Owen. As he had the breathing technique as long as it was a solid chunk invading his lungs he could still breathe. With the first Devourer of the stampede down, Owen didn’t dwaddle and faced the a giant lizard coming towards him.

Although the Feral worked as stopper, it wasn’t able to cover the entire hole. A few on the edges were still able to move around and approach Owen. But this didn’t cause Owen to be worried. Before when he was with his master, he lacked any means of attacking Devourers, but that wasn’t the case any longer. He jolted the sash back as it came rushing towards Owen. At the same time the lizard jumped forth opening its giant mouth that could easily swallow a man whole in one bite. Owen stood there unmoving, as the mouth came closer. Even he wasn’t sure if the weight of the rock would approach first or not. But Owen didn’t decide to use the sash to block. He didn’t have time for that. Every single movement he made would affect the outcome of the battle. Every movement he made, needed to be a killing blow.

The lizard’s mouth was so close that Owen felt nauseous from the smell alone. The rotten meat and bones were still stuck within the lizard’s mouth. But close was only close, as the weight of the sash finally returned Owen immediately punched the weight. No matter what the Little Light Rock was owned by Owen. It would not hurt him not matter how hard he struck it. Only the effects of the rock would harm Owen, but that was only if Owen chose to be within the Little Light Rock’s effective range. As Owen punched the rock inside of the sash at the same time, his arm entered inside of the lizard’s mouth. The lizard was already thinking that Owen would lose his arm. It saw the destructive ability of the sash but even if it died it was going to take Owen’s arm for its comrades.

The lizard prepared to chomp down onto Owen, but Owen was unfazed and continue to swing through. The rock was already launched through the and because as the lizard closed its mouth the area around the rock became inclosed, it erupted like never before. It felt like the rock was an excited little fish that had anywhere in the world to go but couldn’t pick a direction. All this pent up energy wasn’t able to be contained and finally the rock chose the original direction that Owen punched it towards. Flying straight in the back of the throat the rock continued to carry along without losing any force. The lizard was dragged back and just as it chomped down Owen’s arm was back outside. Although the lizard failed, the rock forced itself through the throat of the lizard. Effectively severing the spine from the brain of the lizard killing it instantly.

As the lizard collapsed, Owen quickly kicked the mouth of the lizard open and retrieved the rest of the sash. It was covered the sash in red blood, although for Owen he was only able to see the green Essence of the blood. But the blood didn’t stain the sash in the slightest and only dripped off showing its beautiful light blue once again. Naturally Owen didn’t time to worry about the lizard, as the next monster had already arrived, and at the same time so did the Ferals. Now that both forces arrived Owen had to somehow get out of the middle. The Ferals themselves weren’t exactly targeting Owen, but at the moment he was the closest.

--------------------

“What is he doing?”

A tender voice came out of the thin air. Although for Owen he would think it was someone standing there. But for anyone else they would feel that the wind was talking to them and that they were going crazy. This was the invisible girl that was chasing Owen this whole time. Although Owen wasn’t sure of the sex of the person following him. After all, he relied more heavily on hearing for that type of thing. When he looked at the impure colours of the person following him, he wasn’t checking the curvature of the body. Why would he? To him everyone was walking the Path, whether they be female or male, such things weren’t important. This wasn’t say that Owen wasn’t interested in the opposite sex. It was just that he wouldn’t go out of his way to find one either.

As for the girl who was chasing Owen, she had lost him for a good portion of time. But when she heard the sounds of roaring Devourer’s and the screams of Ferals, she decided to check it out. She was someone who was led by her curiosity. She was like a cat who had to find out about everything. But she herself knew that this might lead to her death, but luckily she met her master. If she didn’t, she would probably already been caught by Owen and potentially killed by him. Little did she know he already knew about her existence, but simply didn’t care. It was a misunderstanding from both sides. The girl thought Owen knew nothing of her, even though she knew he had heightened hearing and smell, she already blended herself with dirt. For a woman to dirty herself willingly, was already enough to show how far her curiosity led her. As for Owen, he knew someone was there but couldn’t figure out what they wanted. Because they didn’t harm him so he just left them alone.

And now the girl was staring at the scene in front of her. The person she once lost was in the middle fighting a group of Devourers and Ferals. She looked at Owen, looked at the head Devourer, back to the Ferals, and finally back to Owen. Although only herself would know she was nodding many times as she understood the situation she mumbled at the same time.

“Hmmm.. I knew it, this guy is an idiot. Finally after chasing him so long I know why I couldn’t let him go! An idiot is always the most interesting to meet.”

She slightly bit her lip in excitement. Playing with it back and forth as if she found a new ball of yarn to play with. Then she skipped off towards the battlefield without any worry of being caught.

---------------------------------

As the fight was becoming more destructive, as Owen had already ran into the group of Ferals for cover. Although this would cause the Ferals to target him, they were unorganized and easy to dodge. Their high pitched screams rushed into the ears of Owen as it slightly caused him a headache. Luckily the figures of green would only attack one at a time as they felt it was enough. As for the Devourers, their rage was increasing without bounds. Time and time again Owen was getting the best of them and causing their blood to drank by the land. All of this fight was for a simple little Cinder.

“ROOOOOOOAR!”

A loud noise erupted throughout the area. Owen, the Ferals looked towards the source of the sound. As for the Devourers they bent their heads down in fear and back away, opening up a path of the leader of the Devourers to come through. When one of the Devourers didn’t step back in time the beast with its crocodile like snout instantly tore its neck apart. The beast crunched on the Essence crystal that was lodged into the neck of the beast. Owen frowned as he saw this. The Ferals, instead felt instinctive fear and rushed towards the beast without a care for their lives.

‘This isn’t good. I was hoping to dwindle down their numbers a bit more.’

Owen was unsatisfied by the the Devourer’s move. Because he figured it was a tyrant like beast, it wouldn’t move until the end of the fight. As a tyrant wouldn’t care about its subjects it could just get more. Although it was obvious it still didn’t care from that fact that ripped apart on of the Devourers in front of all of them. It was probably only because Owen pissed it off so much that it wanted to rip Owen more than it wanted to stay back and act like a king. As Owen watched the least impure beast jump into the pile of Ferals ferociously biting and clawing at their bodies. At first it was only light wounds and caused slight injuries, and the Ferlas roared in returned. But as the Ferals were continuously stumbled from its actions, the crocodile snouted Devourer chomped onto their necks snapping them. The helpless Feral’s screamed in their last moments. As the Ferals were killed off one by one, Owen was soon left by himself against 15 or so Devourer’s.

‘Hopefully this leader is impulsive and wants to attack me.’

At this point Owen’s only hope was to fight one on one with leader of the Devourers. So he did what anyone would do in such a situation, he taunted it. As Owen swung his sash into the ground and for the first time in his life, he rose his voice and yelled at the top of his lungs.

“Let’s fight!”

It might have been a bit awkward, but Owen wasn’t sure what else to do in order to taunt the beast in front of him. Luckily for him, his tiny attempt worked as the beast stared viciously at Owen, steadily moving closer to him.
