《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 58: Rushing to Acquire One's Effort

Owen didn’t want to waste anymore time than necessary. Time wasn’t something Owen rushed ever. However he knew the importance of time as well. If the situation called for it he would rush. If it didn’t his steps would be perfectly distanced apart from one another. He was a person who could easily adapted to the environment. As for right now, was also the time needed for him to change. The reasoning being was that moment he Owen had scouted out the forces below the Devourer leader had got the fight started. It was apparent that both sides wanted the Cinder. But only one side would be able to get it.
This was also a reason why Owen rushed in towards the fight. If he didn’t join now while the Devourer’s forces were focused on the Ferals he would never get a chance to join. Even though it can be said that both sides have their advantages and disadvantages making it hard to kill one another. When a leader appears on one side that changes everything. As such the Devourer’s will win and quite fast as well. Owen could only take this chance to quickly jump in and grab the Awakening Cinder. If he didn’t in only a few moments the Devourer leader would be able to acquire it.
“I have no doubts that it will take no time at all for that Devourer to get the cinder. The only problem is how I should jump in.”
As Owen was rushing down he was contemplating when he should join in. He had already lost the person stalking him. But Owen still felt that that person could find him easily. If they had followed him to this point, they were definitely skilled in tracking. So it was only a matter of time before they came back. Although he didn’t know why they were following him, Owen wasn’t sure how to tell the person following him to stop.

Wouldn’t it be awkward to walk up to your stalker and ask them to stop? This was a strong reason why Owen left it alone. He was blunt, but that was only when people spoke out to him first.
Finally as Owen rushed down he untied the bluish silk sash around his waist. He took out the harmless looking Little Light Rock and put it inside the sash. As he did he had the thoughts of using the rock to create a crater.
‘If I do that, while the damage is great, I can’t control it. The Cinder may be destroyed if I use it. Not to mention it might not even hurt the Ferals and Devourers. Instead it might just make them fight me instead.’
With these thoughts Owen decided to used the Tiny Thin Sash instead. He was no expert but with the Blind Motion technique, he could utilize it barely enough to defend himself without being harmed. Although it was incredibly difficult style, it was indeed an amazing weapon for medium distance and hand-to-hand combat. He could attack over 10 feet and launch enemies afar. He could also sweep all around him. It was simple to get surrounded in this type of world. Both Osena and Kovinth didn’t wish to see Owen die and gave him items that would be more helpful towards saving his life and not killing others. Although Owen can be said to be well off from others he still had a general disability. Him receiving these objects was due to his lifestyle of 17 years. Every single day of his life he would meticulously complete every duty he was given. Whether fighting, or learning about the medicinal herbs brought from the monks. Owen would put all his effort into learning. He would play with the children when he could. All the fights between villagers were generally solved by Owen. He was this type of person and during all of this he didn’t ask for a single thing in return. To his name Owen owned a small shack of a house and used shortsword.

For one to say things were handed to him without any effort didn’t realize how much time and effort Owen put into practice for all these years. While training with Kovinth, Owen would sleep less than 3 hours a day to make sure to absorb all the knowledge he could. And when Kovinth was cooking, instead of resting Owen was instead utilizing the Water Crater to perfect his breathing technique. And now all of his life’s work, all of the time and effort he had worked for. To Owen who had nothing, it was time for him to get something. On his own with his own effort. This was his Path. The Path that he could walk endlessly on. The Path of an immortal.

Overseer (Dwarf Fortress x Worm)
A young woman gains the power to make elements of a saved game real. She must then survive the assault of a coordinated attack by some of the deadliest parahumans on the planet - he same group of murderhobos that caused her the mental trauma that resulted in her gaining her powers to begin with. This is a crossover fiction between the most complicated game ever created, 'Dwarf Fortress' by Toady One, and an extensive grimdark superpower genre serial fiction called 'Worm' by Wildbow. It is violent and there are some references to sex in it, so it's probably not fit for young children to read, and persons not familiar with Dwarf Fortress or Worm might be confused by some elements, but I feel confident that it stands reasonably well on it's own. This crossover is complete. I posted it here in it's entirety all at once. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
