《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 51: Meeting The Four Gods

Later that night Owen and Rauf had already ate their fill. This included them getting slightly intoxicated. Even though this was a strange sight with Rauf getting intoxicated in his younger boy form. The funny part for Owen was that when Rauf broke past his limit and tried to hit on all the ladies all they ended up doing was thinking he was cute, patting his head and force feeding him some food. All attempts to flirt was obviously blocked by his physical looks.
Rauf was left with no choice but to come back, but when he did he slammed his head hard into the table and started to make hiccup/crying noises. It was quite pitiful from Owen’s perspective. Owen on the other hand was fully enjoying himself. He had broken through, so there was no need from him to stay in the Pavilion any longer. As you either had to pass 3 tests or break through to the Intermediate level before leaving. This was the bare minimum for surviving within the Boundary. Although Owen got lucky with killing the cougar, that was mainly because it was a weak Devourer. It had broken through to the Peak Omega stage but it was relying on eating regular beasts to absorb their energy. As such it was difficult to call that a very strong beast.
However for the beasts within the Boundaries, they were all beasts who were surviving day by day. They would kill the other Devourers, and now they would start to dig their fangs into humans as well. But before he could continue to enjoy the banquet any longer, he was called over by a soft voice. It wasn’t loud enough for others to hear, but it wasn’t quiet enough to call it a whisper. Yet when Owen heard it felt like it was right beside his ear.

‘Oh looks like I’m not the only one who was called.’
As Owen looked over to a few other Pathwalkers and Rauf. They too got up after the message and walked towards the back entrance. At the back entrance was Alesia who called them, and when everyone arrived she wore a beautiful smile to greet them.
“Welcome fellow, Pathwalkers, the Lords shall see you now.”
‘Lord White Tiger? Who else is here?’
Owen thought. As he was already unconscious when Kovinth jumped down, Owen had no idea his master was watching him this whole time. So when he entered with the few others, he was momentarily surprised to see four people lined up together. On the far left was an old woman who Owen had never met before. But because of a certain someone's gasp Owen soon realized that this was the master of Rauf. Rauf’s face contorted as it looked like he wanted to run away. The Rebirth Snake on the other hand, smiled mysterious. Who knows why, but Rauf straightened up after that and looked like a perfect little student. To the left of her there was the White Tiger Lord. He was already holding his chin with this arm as if saying ‘Let’s get this over with’.
Next was Osena, and clearly she had no interest in any of the Pathwalkers here and was only staring at the man beside her. It was Kovinth smiling happily. He had been watching Owen this whole time was more than happy with his results. Actually as long as Owen stayed alive that was really all Kovinth cared about. Kovinth already knew how diligent and hardworking Owen was. But he also knew that was Owen’s weakness. Even if Owen wasn’t required to get something, as long as it helped it on his Path Owen would strive to accomplish it. Owen noticing the faint smell of his master grinned and bowed slightly towards his direction. Kovinth responded with a nod waiting for the main topic to be brought up.

When Owen was looking through his Blind Motion technique, he had already learned from Kovinth, that gods would only show up as the colour white for him. He didn’t explain exactly why, however he made clear that some Keepers themselves were gods as well. But when Owen wished to know about the ranks of gods and what was after the body refinement stage Kovinth shook his head and replied ‘it is way too early for that’. Without any other choice Owen could only nod unwillingly.
“Well then, because of circumstances the two tests seemed to have failed both times.”
The White Tiger Lord sighed as he blurted out the words unwillingly. However it was still his job, and with his leader here right beside him, albeit she was entirely focused on something else, she was still here.
“The top five of you will get a Essence crystal of your choice. With that, you may leave.”
The three other Pathwalkers, Owen and Rauf were momentarily surprised and one couldn’t help but speak his mind.
“That’s all you wanted us for?”
“Yes. So leave.”
But when he said that a voice appeared within Owen’s mind ‘except you little boy I have to talk to you.’ Osena looked towards Owen and said calmly within his mind. Owen nodded and didn’t move. As for Rauf he also didn’t move apparently he was also told not to move. But Rauf only felt this was troublesome as he clearly wanted to get away from the Rebirth Snake. With the other three Pathwalkers leaving, they naturally saw that Owen and Rauf had remained and couldn’t help but feel it was slightly unfair. But that didn’t voice their thoughts in front of the gods.
“Hmm, Owen how have you been?”
“I have been doing well, thank you for asking Lady Osena.”
Owen replied to Osena’s caring voice with a bow. Osena nodded with a happy smile and then spoke which surprised everyone here.
“You can open your eyes, I will hold back the Essence.”

Hinterland
Simon sincerely believed he was saving Morgan's life when he pushed her off the second-story roof of her family farmhouse. To be fair, his mother was burning it to the ground at the time. But Morgan Mumford, a lonely outcast with a chip on her shoulder and a full skeleton of remarkably unbroken bones, is not particularly convinced of his good intentions. Because the instant he pushed her over Simon also whisked Morgan into the realm of Hinterland: a shadowy world that is a perfect replica of their home town of Coching. But Hinterland is a hungry and dangerous place, where ordinary objects have taken on a life of their own. In Hinterland you might be ambushed by a gang of motorcycles or eaten alive by a duplex. And by god, you run from scissors. Morgan is now trapped in this hostile realm, unable to find a way home. Hunted relentlessly by Aqualung, an evil-minded Buick Skylark with a love for Jethro Tull and hatred for all things on two legs, she is forced to join a ragtag band of fellow castaways to ensure her survival. But the embittered leader of these children has plans of his own, and before long Morgan finds herself swept into his vendetta against Hinterland's imperious ruler: Simon's mother, who commands the living, breathing town to do her bidding and schemes to transform it into something worse than it is now. Something ravenous. It's time for Morgan to decide whether to ditch her new allies and find her own way out of the belly of the beast, or stay and help her fellow outcasts weather the violent feud that brews on the horizon.

My Good Friend Murphy
***Disclaimer*** I wrote and am writing this purely for my own amusement. That means that this could have major revisions done to it sporadically, it has more grammar errors than even the most mentally stable grammar nazi could withstand, and will not update at all regularly. This is an ad-hoc fun experimental work with forced motives, plotholes, and static characters. Don't expect too much. That said, this mutated mistake of a short novella follows a ditzy MC who has been transported to a new world with the dubiously useful skills origin and enigma and the obnoxiously imbalanced skill, traveler. If you'd like more incentive to give it a shot, you will never get spoilers about the plot because there isn't one (Actual synopsis coming soon, relative to eternity)
