《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 39

IDK there might be more tonight, but I'm taking a break for now....................
-----
As Owen entered the room, he was bombarded by the fresh new smell of eggs, of sizzling bacon and numerous other foods. He didn’t eat at the banquet because he felt something was off but now, he felt nothing was amiss as he slowly walked, holding himself back from speeding, after Alesia. After walking by a few more tables Owen’s mouth was starting to water as he could taste the food from his smell alone. When Alesia finally stopped at a certain table there was one other person there.
When that person looked up, he spat out all of his food and jumped at Owen.
“You bastard! You devil incarnate! You… You.. Waaaaaaaaaah!”
Owen at first was confused, this high pitched boy's voice wasn’t someone he knew. But as he started remember a certain friend who got younger after healing he couldn’t help but feeling sorry for Rauf. Partially because Rauf was holding onto Owen by his robes but Rauf was already half the size of Owen and only looked like a child throwing a tantrum.
“I’m sorry… I didn’t know any other way to solve the problem…”
“You couldn’t warn me?!”
Rauf spat more food that stained Owen’s robe.
‘Actually, I could have done that.’
Owen thought but didn’t dare to reply he was after all guilty of causing Rauf to turn even younger, but before. But the the flip side he suddenly remembered a question he wanted to ask and face towards Alesia.
“What happened to all the Sinners?”
Alesia slightly smirked while looking down muttering to herself softly.
“I knew you did it to help them…”
Maybe it was because Alesia didn’t know that Owen’s hearing was already way above anyone he already knew, or that she was just happy that Owen didn’t do it for selfish reasons, but Owen didn’t make a comment about and waited for her to speak on her own. A split second afterwards she lifted her head and nodded.

“The Ferals aren’t able to be changed back because it is known as the Sin of no return. All of the other sins will eventually be punished by the Lightning of Sloth, however luckily because their desires were stimulated, and that it was only for a short time, their tattoos disappeared for the others.”
Owen sighed in relief. He did it cause he could. Not because he was righteous not because he felt he would get rewarded, but because it was something could do. If something was possible with one’s own power then they should do it. This was Owen’s belief and he only acted upon this belief. Luckily it ended up saving many people from becoming Sinners. As he was feeling relieved Alesia continued to speak. At this time Owen and Alesia were ignoring Rauf who was using Owen’s robe to wipe the snot from his running nose.
“They only slightly lost Essence that was gathered in their bodies, but the loss didn’t damage any of their Paths at all. You could say that your destruction caused a miracle.”
Alesia smiled as she started to walk away.
“Well anyways, rest well the tests will start back up tomorrow.”
Owen bowed still facing towards the departing Alesia he unconsciously started to pat the head of Rauf who was wiping his snot still. Feeling the sudden pat Rauf twitched and spoke with a slight hint of anger.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing..”
“Oh.. sorry I just did it on impulse.”
Owen immediately stopped but before Owen could back away Rauf spoke again.
“You idiot, I happen to like my scalp scratched you can be forgiven if you scratch it for a bit.”
‘Huh?’
Owen stood there shocked, as he didn’t know how to react. But then suddenly Rauf started to burst into laughter as he spoke.

“Haha! So you can be shocked to this degree as well.”
Owen shrugged and didn’t bother with more words as he sat down and grabbed onto the food chewing it perfectly 20 times them swallowing.
“Excuse me.”
A elderly man walked up towards Owen’s table and called out while bowing slightly. Seeing someone greet him, Owen swallowed the food that was in his mouth, even it if wasn’t chewed 20 times he was being greeted, he didn’t want to seem rude and make the man wait. As he swallowed he returned a bow towards the man.
“How may I help you?”
Owen asked calmly. He actually wasn’t sure what the man wanted so he could only curiously ask respectfully. The old man waved his hands frantically that didn’t match his age.
“Oh, you already helped me greatly. I’m actually here to thank you. If it wasn’t for you I would have become a Sinner.”
Hearing this Owen was surprised, he wasn’t expected anyone to know he was the one who threw the rock after all the entire situation was a disaster who would pay attention to him who was on the outside and only threw an object that most people wouldn’t have even seen? He had already felt that the Little Light Rock was returned to his pocket so never thought people would link him to the event. Apparently someone had leaked out the information but who could it be?
“Rauf.”
“Yeah I did it. I was angry okay? Can you blame me? Look at… I. can’t. Relieve. This. stess!”
Rauf started to stomp away as he realized that the person who turned him into an even younger form couldn’t even see the implications of his actions. There was nothing worse than that because he couldn’t get any sympathy from Owen! Just when Rauf thought he was feeling better, he was put straight back into a bad mood so he left the dining room right after. However the old man’s words caused a sudden commotion as it seemed until not everyone was hesitant to walk over. But seeing that Owen was much more approachable than they thought, they rushed over to give their thanks as well. Even a few of the Pathwalkers who didn’t change over thanked them for saving their friend, or their family member. Owen was bombarded by gestures of appreciation and thanks for the remainder of the morning
