《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 34

‘This voice is that lady envoy’s sister I met outside the temple. She’s also the one releasing this essence…’
Owen sighed as he could only patiently watch as the Essence spread throughout the entire room. He calmly looked at every Pathwalker with his Blind Motion technique seeing the fluctuations of their inner Essence. Soon over half the room had been infected, and until now no side effects could be physically seen.
From the manner that no one was causing a commotion Owen came to the conclusion that it wasn’t a fast acting skill that Iohanne used. It was slowly spreading and only caused slight black dots to appear within their bodies. Owen had hoped to see other people causing a commotion cause he wanted to see if there were any other people who were worth paying attention too, however maybe it was because no one reacted or that some were intentional told not to like Owen that the room was still roaring with laughter and excitement.
This lasted some time and Owen hadn’t touched his dish nor had bothered to fantasize about the woman. That didn’t mean that Owen himself didn’t get attention, maybe it's because the female Keepers were attracted to his calm appearance or his slightly above average looks. Or even that cute wavy brown hair that was cut just short of his ears. But even still Owen didn’t pay attention and calmly watched the Essence infect all the Pathwalkers including himself.
For Owen, breathing in Essence was the equivalent of it being harmless. He already had the breathing technique he would breathe Essence all the time everyday for the rest of his life. Filling the air with Essence, even if it was a skill, shouldn’t harm him and he was curious as to what the black spots that were appearing in the Pathwalker’s bodies were doing. The moment he saw the light pinkish Essence invade his nostrils he suddenly felt desire. It wasn’t a particular desire for Owen, but at the moment he clearly knew what the purpose of this banquet was.

It was to test whether the Pathwalkers could resist the Sins! Although he assumed that was the case when they brought out enormous amounts of food and seductive woman and man, it wasn’t until he realized that this Essence would cause their desires to explode. But for someone like Owen his heart was still calm, his mind was steeled and even with this sudden spike in desire it was only to the amount of slightly enjoying it. As such Owen let it course through him to see if any black spots appeared within his colourful Essence.
‘As I thought, Sins only appear when it's in extremes. Simply having desire was never a bad thing to begin with. But what about Rauf?’
As Owen faced towards Rauf he was surprised to see that no black spots to be seen. Owen couldn’t help but ask Rauf a question.
“Do you not want to eat more?”
“Why? I eat till i’m full. What kind of idiot would eat more than that? Do I look like I want to be fat… wait you can’t see what the actual you know what I know you’re doing this to piss me off.”
Owen turned his head to ignore him. But he thought about another question and asked another.
“What about the women? Don’t you want to go have some fun?”
“Well until I get tired. Although I’m fit and have some good endurance it gets boring after I sweat a bit.”
Rauf completely forgot about the previous question and answered the next. He was truly someone who flipped moods quite frequently. Owen again turned his head as he thought about another thing.
“What about the other guys. Aren’t you jealous they are more attractive than you?”
“Ha! I’m think I’m positively stunning. How could I care about their appearances.”

“You surprisingly believe in yourself to the point that it’s pure and can’t even be seen as a Sin…. I’m speechless.”
Owen finally came to a certain conclusion. Rauf was someone who wholeheartedly did things the way he wanted without letting anyone influence his decisions. Maybe this was why he was so angry about that god for taking him in. Because he didn’t like the idea of being forced into anything. Now Owen truly could see the personality of Rauf and he was honestly quite speechless by such a personality.
“Oi. I don’t want to hear that from the guy who even with all this desire floating around hasn’t even been slightly moved. I’m not stupid I know what they are doing here. Although I am better off than others, compared to you? Not likely.”

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
